Supremely friendly and knowledgeable staff, including owner Veronica. They are going to work with us to find food that will help Irving's sensitive skin and also help him stay slim. Irving gained 20+ Quarantine pounds and then lost them through diet and better treat choices. Mountain Dogs also managed to trim Texas Jack's nails. He was an abuse case who is terrified of many things and convinced that we were going to kill him every time we tried. We had resorted to having his nails trimmed when he was under anaesthetic for other reasons, but didn't want to sedate him just to have his nails trimmed--and they were getting long to an unhealthy extent. When we picked him up after boarding for a few days, Jack had a fresh mani-pedi and, most importantly, still loves Veronica and her staff. Mountain Dogs is a terrific place for your pup!

They have a fantastic program set up for residents and visitors to the Aspen area where you can go and take the dogs for a walk, or a hike or spend the day with them at the park or your favorite coffee shop. Each dog is equipped with a coat that lets everyone know that he's "ADOPTABLE". That's what brought us in to just "look at" the dogs... The cages for the animals are large and clean, there is a HUGE area in the back with giant boulders that the big dogs can run up on and overlook the Aspen airport as well as the whole valley. The area where you can meet your prospective adoptee is also huge with park benches, a tree, balls and doggie treat so you can really hang out with and check out how your dog is going to behave. To help with funding they also offer grooming and boarding on premises. I think this place should be the model for all other shelters everywhere.. Just an amazing process and facilities. We couldn't be happier with our mixed breed lab pup.

The shelter is completely kill-free, so animals come from all over the states to be sheltered here. Adopting is easy, and the pet comes neutered/spayed and with all its shots. You can go and help socialize pets, or take them out for the day, a simple walk, a hike, or even take one home for the night! All of these animals are great souls who just want someone to love and be loved by. The facilities are wonderful and have been completely revamped from what they used to be. I visited High Paw Pet Supplies in Fairplay, where Rachel--an incredibly kind and helpful associate--assisted me in selecting several items, including Honest Kitchen's Limited Edition food. She mentioned she feeds her own dog the same brand and kindly assured me I could return it if it didn't work out. Sadly, my sweet boy passed away less than a week later. We used maybe one cup of the food. I returned to the store today to see if I could either return the product or receive store credit. Unfortunately, Rachel wasn't there, and the person who did help me was extremely cold and dismissive. She stated they could not accept the return because my dog had passed--implying that a return would only be honored if something was wrong with the product or the dog didn't like it. I wasn't asking for much--just a little compassion. This experience wasn't about the money--it was about the cold, heartless attitude I received while still grieving the loss of my companion. That brief interaction was incredibly painful. I left feeling hurt and unseen. I will not return to this store again.

With limited time left before his appointment, we were near the Fairplay area ,and found High Paw, online and decided to take a chance.. I must say as a rescue transporter,I've been to many local pet shops all over the country ,but this place had absolutely everything in stock ! The young woman who was working, couldn't have been more knowledgeable and personable, although a bit out of the way for me, I try to support local businesses and will continue to us High Paw Pet Supplies in the future for everything Duke needs in the future!
