I'm really glad we have such a beautiful trail to enjoy during the summer months. Great for running, walking, biking and roller skating. The neighbors of St. Charles were super friendly and gave us smiles and waves. I believe the Rail Trail goes 11+ miles and it is completely paved. There are horse trails. As for the park, the pavilion and gazebo were nice. I think the playground and the volleyball court could use some attention but we also saw it at the end of spring so maybe the parks department hadn't done their seasonal maintenance yet. It felt very peaceful and safe here. Great for a picnic, graduation party or birthday. We saw 2 kayakers and 2 fishermen on the river while there.

There are two entrances to the falls. I would suggest go to the Branch Road entrance is closer to the falls. The one located near Bray Road is more area for the fishing. A lot of people were walking around with their kids or come go fishing. So it was a nice family area. I realize I am more of a resort pool with a lazy river girly, so I am not in love with the many swarms of gnats but that is me. If you are outdoorsy, this is a nice place to visit. My friend and I just wanted some where to float and chat. She repeated like 15 times while we were on the lake.... "I really like this spot". Bathroom were clean and didn't smell any odor - definitely a plus in my book. Please note - recreation passport is required; it's a honor system if you don't have one. My restrictions say I am supposed to have a maintenance fee of $20. Somehow that is now a membership fee of $900. What is also strange is that people can transfer their membership to public outsiders for money. Seen them advertised for $400 or so. So, a person who lives here pays $900 but can sell to outsider for $400 so they can use the pool, lakes and other things. What kind of private community is that? Thinking of getting out if I can. If you're thinking of moving here, I'd recommend a lawyer and check into the properties documents. As I said, something appears to be 'off'.

It's pretty rare to see a three legged bridge, and even more rare to see one as well maintained and gorgeous as this one. We came from the side closest to downtown, and there was plenty of parking in the lot, with free three hour parking on the street as well. There's a watercraft access point for kayaks and the like, and a few people boating and people fishing at the shores of the lake. There were also people having a picnic at the picnic tables. It's a peaceful place to visit and the surrounding grounds are well maintained.
