We go here a few times each summer to enjoy the weather, tranquility and scenic sights.. it's a very family-oriented gathering spot, perfect for picnics, biking, hiking, jogging, relaxing, and photo opps. I really enjoy it - it's off the beaten path, nestled in a wooded area, very clean and tranquil... it's quiet and beautiful- we have taken many gorgeous photos here. There's plenty of parking, public restrooms and nice trails.. however, bring the insect repellent/ you'll want it!!

Where we parked there was a path to get to the falls. They are not really falls, just a man made dam with concrete steps on several levels to check out the water. I could see people were able to have canoes on the lake and there was a beach and playground off to the distance on the other side. Another part of the park maybe? A lot of people were walking around with their kids or come go fishing. So it was a nice family area. I realize I am more of a resort pool with a lazy river girly, so I am not in love with the many swarms of gnats but that is me. If you are outdoorsy, this is a nice place to visit. Paired with Huckleberry railroad would be perfect.

The park does a great job organizing time slots so the hill doesn't get too busy. Multiple lanes to sled from and the conveyer belt saves so much time and energy of exhausting yourself just on the trip up. The track is fun for racing and group tubing for all ages. Please note - if you think you get tired often, please know there's not really a lot of benches here. Maybe you can use a rock for seating. Happy hiking!

There are also a couple of nice ball fields here so tournaments are a go. Playground equipment, ample parking, etc. Everything you would expect. Quiet, serene setting truly transports one away from the hustle and bustle. We needed the break from tourist-filled Frankenmuth and we're surprised refuge was just a 20-minute drive away. Ahhhhh...great respite. Would have appreciated a few more benches to be able to sit and soak in the ambience. Plus a handout map....digital was great but cell service can be spotty. Add a list with pics of some wildlife to view would be helpful as well. Appreciate the park rangers hard work in keeping such a safe haven for wildlife. Expect to need a car wash afterwards...dirt road. But we'll worth it! Free admission (thanks). Donor box? We'd gladly support your cause

I see fish in the water but due to the advisories I think most people would prefer not to fish here. There are also a few grills and large gazebos that can be reserved for local residents in case you want to have a cookout. If you have a dog or child they can play in their designated playgrounds. Admission is free to local residents as well, as long as you display the sticker provided.
