If you are reading this review, I imagine you are in the similar and unfortunate position that I had found myself in, which was searching for a Divorce Attorney. My hopes were to find an Attorney that could reasonably and optimally navigate me through the anticipated trials and tribulations of both the expected and unexpected rough waters ahead through my Dissolution of Marriage. Denis was both professional, and personable when I first consulted with him about the nuances of my particular situation. He was extremely attentive to detail, and answered all of my questions confidently. I did not retain a lawyer immediately, until it became necessary, and at that time I reached back out to Denis. I was very impressed with his recount of all the particulars surrounding my case per my original consultation - meaning, I did not have to go over everything with him all over again. From this time forward, Denis dealt with and kept me aptly informed of all logistics concerning communications with the opposing Council, and required Court documents and dates. Denis is a straight to the point, matter of fact Attorney that does not waste time or linger on issues. In my experience both first and second hand, this is a rare quality in an Attorney - most do the opposite. He meaningfully educates, and then presents options in a fine tuned manner. I did call and leave a message. I was also never informed about how much child support could be and was continuing told that it is not going to be more the $150 which is grossly inaccurate. I was never given a reason as to why a seemingly easy calculation could be so far off and me not being made aware until the day of court. I also found out after the fact I could have gone to mediation but that Denis never set it up or asked if I would want to exercise this right. read more

Mr. Gravel was an absolute blessing in such a hard time. I can't speak for the other Lawyers in his firm, and I'm sad for the man who had the type of experience he did with this office, but finding Mr. Gravel after meeting with at least seven other lawyers was the best thing that happened to me. He was kind and compassionate, and he was very knowledgeable, but also respected some of my unconventional decisions on divorce. When I first began working with Lindsay J. Roalfs ( Now at Denis Gravel) she came across as an intelligent , if not spunky individual whom I thought would benefit me in court. In my last court date , she showed up, but neglected to tell me she was leaving her firm that day!! I found out because the old firm emailed me the following Monday to let me know she resigned! In spite of that I decided to continue with her at her new firm, even though I knew I had to pay a retainer again! I agreed to come all the way to the office in Gurnee from downtown to make a payment and sign paperwork. I had a question for the young "lady" who was behind the counter and proceeded to hand her my CC for payment. She then says we don't take credit cards. I responded that I had literally called the office 20 minutes ago and the person who answered assured me that they do take CC. She then walks off in a very unprofessional manor and states "he has a funky attitude" mind you there were clients and co-workers in the office all of whom could hear. Then my attorney Lindsay walks up and proceeds to berate me in public , in front of her staff, and clients ,like I am her 7 year old son. She screams (literally) at me to "get out of her office" that she "told me we don't take CC (what legitimate law firm doesn't take CC?) and I'm calmly trying to tell her fine I will go and make a cash withdraw. She then screams at me "Get out of MY office" and she is "no longer working on my case". This was all in plain view of both clients and coworkers. I have NEVER experienced such a blatant display of unprofessionalism in my life! None of this is made up, and almost brought me to tears, as I walked out of the office. To think a woman with a law degree would chastise a client of hers like a child in front of both clients and staff is appalling! This after me having already paid thousands of dollars. There are many lawyers out there who wont treat people like a piece of trash and I STRONGLY recommend anyone go elsewhere. I have retained a new firm and are in the process of contacting the ARDC, as no one regardless of circumstance should be humiliated , especially in front of clients and coworkers, completely and utterly unacceptable.
