So I went here for my very first wedding dress experience. I would never recommend this place to…read moreanyone. I walked in and they had suits laying all over the dirty floor. I don't care if you are spraying them for dry cleaning or just hitting them with fabreeze before hanging them back up again, it was gross and no one should have to step over clothes on the floor to go try on dresses. The girl I had was nice enough but very new so I heard more about her wedding then I told her about mine. Next the heat in there was outrageous! They wouldn't turn it down and couldn't offer a fan due to no plugs.... Anywhere. It's fun trying on dresses while sweating. . Also what's this no water while in a dress and you have to drink it in the front lobby? ITS WATER!! And half the dresses and stained and ripped anyway. My friends were the biggest help fluffing the dress and doing all the things I thought the employee was supposed to do. After I tried on all my dresses I wanted to go thru a few of my faves and even a few I didn't like because one of my bridesmaids showed up late. The girl told me she put them back because she didn't like them on me.... Not her decision it's mine, give me the dress. The only good thing here is the selection. Tons of dresses. I'd recommend Lady Js in Hollowell! AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! The whole 9 yards. Fan, nipple covers, sweat shields, wipes, deodorant, perfume, lotion, and a mimosa that you can drink in the dress and have it with you in the dressing room! You wanna feel like a princess? Talk to Lady J!

After having such an amazing initial visit at Henry's, I feel like an update is needed now that the…read moredust has settled on the wedding. I had my dress altered with Lai, their in-house alterations person. Though Lai is clearly very knowledgable and talented, she had a large task having to take in my dress that was initially 1-2 sizes too large and then had to be taken in even more after I lost 30 lbs. During the first fitting, we had the dress pinned and discussed our options. As I mentioned, I live in Boston so getting a fitting done takes me 8 hours of travel time round trip. Our second fitting came a month before the wedding and i thought would be the last fitting thanks to a busy schedule heading in to the last month. Unfortunately there were a few issues that still needed to be resolved so Lai asked me to come back a third time. Given the timing, there was just no way to do that so I had my mother pick up the dress and bring it down the weekend of my shower, two weeks before the wedding. When I tried it on the third time I realized not only was the top so tight I could not take in a full breath, but one of the front seams had been cut crooked. The dress was satin and paneled, so there was no way for this to be fixed. A gap in the attached belt was also left hanging and only one hook held the too-stressed zipper together, which made the buttons running down the back flap open instead of laying flat. Given the fact that the dress had to be taken in 6 inches, I had no idea how it had gotten to be so tight across my chest and ribs. It was a disappointment to say the least, and I ended up having to take it to my local tailor to have hooks added to the top and front of the zipper so the buttons would lay flat in the back and the dress wouldn't burst open with how stressed the zipper was. While I admit that some of these issues could have been resolved with a third fitting (and that is totally my fault I couldn't swing it) the tightness and cooked seam could not have been fixed. My mom ended up writing a letter to Henry's to let them know that perhaps Lai is a little busy and the response was to ask me to come in the weekend of my wedding for them to fix it. Why even bother responding at all? No one in their right mind would ask someone to travel another 4 hours for a repair the weekend of their wedding, so I was a little disappointed in the response in general. Overall, a great place to get a dress, but after dropping that kind of money on a dress, perhaps paying $350 for alterations which ultimately made me hate a dress I loved is not worth it and brides should go else-where.

Everyone is super helpful, smiles and greets you with a smile and a hello. They have national brands and local stuff too like local raw honey, Coca Cola products and Moxie a local Maine soda. Upstairs there is a gun store, fishing tackle, Men's and womenswear including wedding dresses and downstairs there are guns and, tools, hardware supplies (we got a drill bit to drill into concrete) and everything else. There is parking in front of the store but if the lot is full there is more space across the street. I think this is the only store.within 20 miles but the prices seem decent and not your typical up charges for convince. There is a customer service department that handles lotto winners and licenses. Truly one of the nicest people ever works there. The wine selection was not great but wines snobs can't always get what they want. The butcher shop was solid. Super nice guys there with big smiles and hellos. Just courteous people there from the staff to the shoppers. I like this store! Oh and I got a homemade blueberry pie!

THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY REVIEW 4th May 2023…read more I doubt you could get the worst service from gold star cleaners in old town, Maine than I received today. I dropped off my academic robes earlier in the week with a promise they would be ready today. Instead, when I called the outlet tonight, I was told there was no sign of them, and they did not know where they were. A bit of a worry, to say the least. So their poorly trained but delightfully polite member of staff called their manager, who told them he was going to call all the shops to try and find it. Luckily they did find it still at the depot shortly afterward. When. I spoke to the manager they were not prepared to do anything to help me. I was told that they could get it to the old town outlet by 6 pm, giving the impression this would be a massive problem for them and for them to be offering such an amazing service, I should really be thankful for this "compromise" (remember I been told it would be available first thing in the morning today) and he would not change his timing to held a distressed customer. By this time, I had already been at the shop for 40 minutes, and the manager suggested I simply wait another hour and 15 minutes until they could be bothered to drive the 15 minutes from Brewer to old town to fix their mistake was simply ludicrous. Talk about a lack of customer service. During our conversation, I offered several compromises to get my robes to me only to be told they, "We're not The post office or UPS," which is clearly true as they have things like tracking numbers and helpful employees to help customers find out about the service they have bought. I can only hope my robes are there tomorrow, but sadly I fear the worst. So here are my rankings Customer service 0 Helpfulness of management 0 Problem resolution 0 Concern 0 Courtesy of shop staff is very good, the management 0 Do not use, go anywhere else but Gold Star Dry cleaning Up date, when I wore my robes on Friday I have to say the quality of the cleaning was very poor (see photo) that stain looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all. They also lacked the fresh dry cleaned smell you except. This led me to propose a scenario of events. Thursday my items were misplaced" aka lost, and not cleaned. The delay involved the depot doing a rush job on them, effectively a quick press and race to the shop to save place and no dry cleaning, or cleaning at all for that matter. So I can now add to my scores: standard of cleaning, very poor. This led me to do more research on the company, all I can say is I wish I'd looked at their reviews on the Better Buisness Beureau as they seem to be reflective of the service than the 3.8 average they have here and in Yelp, where clearly they are using friends to get a higher review. What is us laughable is this quote from their website. " We take pride in being the best and we back it up 100%. If you're not 100% satisfied in any way we'll clean your garment again at no cost. If we can't make it right, I'll give you your money back! Quality, service and your complete satisfaction are our main goals." talk about misleading advertising. Not that I'm asking for my money back that bird has flow, as I'll never set foot in one of their hovels ever again. All I want to do is prevent any reader of this review from receiving the same horrific service & bad treatment, because as customers receiving this "service", we deserve better, and you can get that better service just about anywhere else. I was Told the tuxes for the wedding were gonna be there on a Tuesday the latest a Thursday. The men and i were there waiting for several hours for the tuxs that never showed. Everything but the "dog ate my homework" was given for an excuse. They had to be over nighted to the location of the wedding. (2 hours away from House of Boneheads) no one got to try on their tuxes before the wedding, which was super convenient. One of the guys didn't get shoes. SHOES PPL.....Really, no shoes. This was not a beach wedding!2 guys didn't receive cufflinks, When we called house of Boneheads we were told we could use bread ties if we Had to have them. Freaking bread ties, like we were getting married in a bakery or something. We ordered ivory colored Shirts For The Tuxes BC idk,Everything In The Wedding Was Ivory Colored. The shirts we got were bright white, white as men who can't jump. One of the men's pants were so short in length you would have thought there was a flood warning. One of the guys was late returning their tux, they were charged 40 dollars each day for a tux they didn't even receive shoes with. I would go to you local bingo hall and recruit grandmother's to knit your wedding party's tuxes before you consider these people to have anything to do with your special day. They are located close to the local homeless shelter. Their could be some seamstress their who would appreciate your money more than house of boneheads.
