My experience on this trail was pretty awesome. I went midday in the beginning of the off-season (it closes for raptor habitat Dec 1) on a Monday before Thanksgiving. I was weary of tons of bikers and tourists, but I passed just three other folks the entire way. Additionally, I decided to run the trail so I could squeeze in more local sights later in the day. The sandy/gravel nature of this trail and clear cuts made by the bicycle traffic made it extremely user friendly to the trail runner. The distance was just right, the fall setting beautiful with ice, sun, clear views, falling oak leaves. The views are interesting in all directions if filtered at times by large trees. I imagine this trail can get pretty crowded, but I had it all to myself on a perfect day.

Beautiful trail! It was a moderate hike with some incline. The hike is also dog friendly. The views at the top is also beautiful and you can see the lake! There are picnic areas and a restroom at the trailhead.

Awesome trail that took about an hour and a half to reach the top. Seen a deer on the way up so there is an opportunity to see wildlife. The parking is closed for the season so we had to park down the road and walk about a quarter mile to the trail. Well with it!

Went hiking on this trail this past Saturday. Left from Hanna Flats camping lot #49 around 11:30 a.m. and didn't get back till around 5 p.m. Yes we were slow pokes but all in all it was a great trail! Hardly came across any other hikers (just mostly bikers) and the views were spectacular! My phone says the total trail was 12 miles rather than 8 but who knows we might've went off trail a few times but still managed to find our way back to it. HA! It was a moderate type of hike and was definitely worth the trip! Happy hiking!

One of the best trails I've ever done! Perfect length/incline for a nice easy hike with fantastic views. It's amazing how little people we saw on the trail as well. Started about 9- had the trail to ourselves save for two other couples we passed.

Awesome hike and moderate. It is exactly 4 miles from the parking lot to the Peak. Total round hike is 8 miles. It is worthy !!!

This was one of the most unique and incredible experiences…read more I found Selena on AirBnB Experiences and after reading the reviews knew I had to participate in Forest Bathing. We met at a public parking lot and she drove us in her SUV up into the mountains, to her secret spot in the forest. She provided lots of interesting, educational info along the 15 minute drive. Once we arrived, the experience started. She guided a moderate hike into the forest, showing us all of her favorite things. Fresh water brooks, waterfalls, unique, bold, and beautiful trees. The hike was fairly moderate, Indian Jones-esq at times, nothing too crazy, but not easy. As a plus size/not very active girl, I was able to do it. My 62 year old mom kept up fairly well too! Selena took lots of short breaks for us to catch our breath (elevation for flatlanders is rough!), gave us lots of educational info about what we were seeing, smelling, and hearing. She even provided us with a few edible plants along the way. The hike up to the fresh water source was truly spectacular. Once there we emptied our water bottles and filled them with the ice cold fresh water and guzzled it down. So crisp and clean and YUM! The hike back was just as refreshing. We then spent some time wind bathing, cutting chords, and energy healing, followed by 35 minutes of quiet time meandering the forest on our own. Afterwards we drank a fresh brewed tea Selena had made using ingredients she collected along our hike, and some healthy snacks and more fresh water, which she provided. It was 3 hours of really amazing, energizing, active, relaxing, healing Forest Bathing and for $40pp it was well worth it!
