I have walked and ridden this bike path hundreds of times. Fun fact: if you walk from Big Bear Shores resort to Stanfield and back you will have logged approximately 800 steps! Whether you stroll this path or ride it, you will witness nature at its pinnacle. From the gorgeous lake, towering pines, colorful wildflowers and snowcapped mountains, the Good Lord did not skimp when it comes to eye candy. Just this morning I caught a glimpse of three coyotes frolicking in the lake. I saw ducks, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and a variety of birds all enjoying the beautiful lake they call home. These peaceful surroundings beckon me every time I visit Big Bear. Be sure to visit this glorious path! read more

This is a nice path for novice riders, it is fairly flat however there are some side paths that lead towards the lake that have mild hills. There are signs that say no motorized bikes but that's all I saw on a Saturday afternoon. I'm sure they want to keep it slow so it's safer for all. Since it was full of lots of part time riders and many walkers bike educate could be improved. Overall, it's a very easy path and kids will do just fine but I suggest helmets and bike signals should be reminded and discussed before any ride. read more

This is a really cool popular spot up in big Bear. I highly recommend House really great views during the winter and summertime.

Really great area to walk in the morning. It's right by the lake. You can ride your bike too. I wouldn't consider this a hike as it's on a paved 2 lane path. It's flat and super easy stroll. I went around 8am and there was already a lot of people out already. I didn't walk the whole thing as I had just done a hike previously and I was tired but I did get some beautiful pictures of the lake :) For parking I parked on the dirt area on the side of the street across from the Woodland trail. There were spots open when I got there in the morning but I noticed they filled up fast. read more

Perfect PAVED walking/running/biking path. There is parking lots along the way and there is parking along side of the road. There are people socially distancing away from each other along the path , lake side , and day camping areas. The path starts up across the way by a school , goes for about 3 miles with smaller moderate hills. I took a beach cruiser on this path but mountain bikes are definitely easier on this two lane path. Benches are along the path , lots of scenery of the lake, and lots of shaded areas. If you go the entire length you will see a smaller general store along the path. Cell signal was just fine too but I brought my 2-way radios and just used those for our group. There are small reasonable dirt paths that lead you from the Alpine Pedal Path right to the lakeside. It took about 1 hour to ride the entire path. I can't wait to do it again. read more

Awesome little trail to walk, jog, or bike. This trail has a few inclines, but nothing too intense (which can be difficult to find in Big Bear). Great view of the lake almost the whole way through, a little over 2.5 miles round trip from the dock. There are a few free available parking spots at the entrance. read more

If you're looking for a family friendly, easy path, this is for you! We rode it on electric bikes and had a great time. We rented the bikes for two hours and rode the path twice in that time. The first time down the path, we stopped for lots of photos. Second time straight up and back just for fun. Even with the lake at low levels, the view was pretty. One of our favorite Big Bear paths for a nice lakeside walk, jog or bike ride. 2-1/ 2 miles, from near Stanfield Cutoff to Junipero Serra campground. You can continue on the road to Fawnskin, or you can go under the tunnel to connect to the Cougar Crest trail. All paved, so easy for kids, strollers, etc. Beautiful in every season. There's something new to see every time. Plus, a some geocaching along the way! read more

It's paved and it's by the lake! Bicycles, humans, dogs, cats, babies, your grandma, grandpa and your ex-wife are all welcomed! There are parts where it's by the lake and you can walk down the sandy shore to reach the water, maybe give yourself a dip or your thirsty dog a drink. I wouldn't recommend that for humans unless you want to see what cholera can do to you... It's easy to spot the paved path because a section of it is right next to the highway 38 N Shore Dr. It might be a bit hard to locate where to park though. There was one spot where we parked, which was on the dirt spot after turning into N Shore Lane from N Shore Drive, next to Serrano Campground (not inside the lot though). You'll walk through the woods (not dense) a little, cross a few small bridges, before you'll see the lake. On satellite images there's another small lot east of N Shore Lane that you might wanna check out too if you wanna park closer to the lake. It's a great leisurely way to spend the day. Adore! Such a nice stroll along the lake. The only thing I wish is that this path continued around more of the lake (e.g. from the village to where it ends...) I'm a big walker, and would love to keep on go-go-going. Perhaps there is a reason that it doesn't / can't that as a visitor, I'm not familiar with. Nevertheless, it's absolutely lovely. I didn't find that there was a problem with pedestrians and cyclists, so that was nice. read more

Excellent and simple trail. If you don't feel like dealing with dirt this is the path for you. The path is paved so it is bicycle friendly. The path covers a good distance so you will find parking and restrooms in multiple locations. read more

I love this path! You can walk it, run it, bike it, skate it, scoot it, whatever, as long as it's not motorized. We had our scooters, and we were able to get a decent way down the path before the sun started to set. It's pretty level, and what hills (I mean, not even hills, maybe slopes? Gentle inclines?) there are, are pretty mild. Great for a chill, relaxing jaunt with beautiful views of the lake and some shaded areas going through the trees. There are multiple parking areas near the trail, and people can also park on the street going parallel with it. We saw several people walking their dogs, and little kiddos practicing riding a bike, so very family/pet-friendly. read more

My husband and I were here last weekend with our dog and had a great time. The path runs along the lake and is paved so it is really easily accessible. There was snow along the way but the path was clear of any. It is a beautiful walk from one end to the other. Once you get to the end, you turn around and head back. We did the whole trail in about 2 hours, stopping to take pictures and play in the snow. It's definitely a place to bring your dog(s) and kids! read more

During our stay in Big Bear, we came to the Alpine Pedal path about 3 times for some Exercise, and so we could walk our dog we brought up. The park is beautiful, and the path is a nice 3 miles long. There are even hiking trails directly across the street from the park. Great place for a bike ride or even just a walk. You can take the bike path or even walk the shore line all the way. The park is very clean and well maintained, as it should be. Great place. One thing I found funny was that one of the park rangers was just staring me down as we pulled in, like I was some pesky tourist. Oh well. read more

This was such a fantastic ride. Our 7 year old absolutely loved it and did the entire ride. Gorgeous views, pretty easy. Just watch out for people standing in the middle of the trail talking 5 people across (WHY!). Can't wait to come back and ride down the path again . read more

This is a great path for a nice stroll or a quick bike ride! The path is only about 3 miles so it's perfect for me when I'm in the mood for a smooth run with a beautiful view. Be care around dusk/dawn cause the little flies come out and you don't want to choke on those while open mouthed on a run LOL I park down the main street right at the head of the trail. There's a little beach area too which is great for a view of the sunset or to have a nice little picnic. Definitely a great spot to hang out with family, friends, or a date! :] read more

This is my favorite walking path in Big Bear on Fawnskin side of the lake. I always park my car at the Discovery Center start with a short walk through the beautiful trees then go through the underpass to get to the Alpine pedal path. Altogether I do a 6-mile walk but you don't feel it when you're walking along the beauty of the lake. There are many spots along the way to stop and take a break and admire the beauty surrounding you. read more

My family and I love this trail! It's paved, about 5 miles, surrounded by trees and right by Serrano Campground. It's near the lake. We rented bikes and enjoyed the views! Weather was great around 50's in April. Our kids loved it, I would recommend this trail. read more

90% of it is in the sun. But when you do get shade, you learn to appreciate it. Went around 1pm on a summer day. This was when the fire was going on. Quite a nice paved road to go on. Met a lot of nice bikers, we walked. There was a Mormon caravan of bikers riding. An old couple we saw like four times. It says the trip is 3.2 miles one way, I think it's more like 5.2 miles round trip. Though, I was feeling it on the last stretch. Nice flat walk. Great for all ages. read more

Gorgeous paved path, perfect for bicycles, strollers, running, walking and even walking your dogs. I felt safe knowing I wouldn't have to watch out for any cars or trucks as we were biking down the path. Apparently it's about a 3 mile course that takes you along the lake, forest and various rest stops. There were many areas where we could stop and take beautiful postcard pictures. I like to hike and check out all the best that nature has to offer. I checked out hikes and walks around Big Bear and head straight here. The view was amazing. I loved how I could walk right up to the lake and see across from it. Be careful if you walk towards the water. There are some muddy spots and it can deceiving because there is a lot of dry brush covering it. And another thing, most of the bathrooms were closed when we visited. You may want to make a bathroom trip elsewhere before starting the path. Overall, I had a fantastic view of skiers going doing the mountainside and the endless landscape of pine trees. Great views of big bear lake and slopes. Brought scooters for my 3 and 6 yo. We parked at the school at the start of the path on one of the days. Another day we started at Juniper Point - note that the parking lot there requires recreational parking passes. We saw people parking on the street but didn't see that many spots. The path was easy for my 6yo but my 3 yo has some challenges using her scooter on the incline so she preferred the stroller. Not a lot of shade when we went so it could get pretty hot. read more

Fantastic 3.5 mile round trip hiking path that is paved! My wife and I took our son in his stroller and this hike was a pleasant, easy trek. If you start from the Stanfield Cutoff, the route looks like this: http://goo.gl/maps/41R6I Note that you can park along the side of the road on Stanfield Cutoff and start the hike. We, however, drove into the East Boat Launch, parked the car in the parking lot, and started our hike from there. Stop by the office when you enter the parking lot and ask for a yellow parking permit. You get a great view of the ski slopes and the lake. The breeze from the lake really cools you down. As the trail progresses, you start to climb a bit but it's not drastic. Shades from trees will come up every now and then so you can rest if you need to. Access to the lake is also possible from the trail at various points so if you want to go down to the lake, you can. I'd also recommend taking the extra 0.6 mile hike to the Big Bear Discovery Center. http://goo.gl/maps/Vos4R See where the "B" is and the path that goes north? Follow that trail under the Highway 18 and 0.6 miles later, you end up at the Discovery Center. If you hike from Standfield Cutoff to the Discovery Center and back, it will be a total of 4.2 miles total distance. Along the path are plenty of wildlife - mostly lizards and birds, actually. My dog had a GREAT time sniffing the bushes and trees. My wife and I both enjoy hiking in the mountain trails but we thoroughly enjoyed this trail because we could take the stroller. Great way to see the Big Bear Lake and the Discovery Center. Trail is dog friendly as well as the Discovery Center. :0) read more

This was a nice place to do a stroll around the lake. Like other reviewers said, you can find parking along the path. We were able to find parking next to the elementary school without any issues. The actual parking lot was closed. I think this is because it opens during spring and summer where the lot would be used for camping and boat docking? We pulled up to park in the lot by Stanfield Cutoff & North Shore Drive. The gate attendant gave us a free yellow parking permit and directed us where to park. Near the lot were a few picnic tables, people who ventured out for a swim, & a launch pad for boats. We only got to explore the trail about 1 mile in before we turned back around because it was about to rain. The views of the lake were beautiful.. So serene. It's a paved trial that wraps around the lake. Great trail to go walking, jogging, or biking to see the whole lake. read more
