I previously left a positive review for Grayson Academy because at the time I was happy with the space. However, after discovering that staff had slapped my child on the hand and bringing this to their attention, everything changed. Instead of taking accountability, they chose to remove my son from the program. I removed my original review and am posting this updated one because parents deserve to know the truth. It is beyond unacceptable that any form of abuse is tolerated in a daycare setting. And instead of making things right, they also kept my full week's payment without issuing a refund -- which is nothing short of theft. As a Black mother and an educated woman, I will not be silenced, intimidated, or "talked down" to with empty words. If necessary, I will take legal action. Parents need to understand what kind of environment this is, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this daycare to anyone. Thankfully, by the grace of God, I have since found a 24-hour daycare in the area with fair rates, professional staff, and a nurturing atmosphere where both children and parents are treated with genuine respect. It's truly sad and unfortunate to see negative reviews about Grayson Academy, because our experience has been nothing short of amazing. My younger brother attended Grayson Academy, and now my very own daughter goes there as well. That alone speaks volumes about the trust I have in them. I wholeheartedly trust Grayson Academy with my daughter. The staff is caring, attentive, and genuinely invested in the children. They offer a variety of activities that keep the kids engaged, learning, and having fun. They are always planning cute, creative, and exciting things for the children to participate in. My daughter has been attending Grayson Academy for 4 years now and the entire staff has been nothing but amazing. She started in the newborn class and all her teachers over the years have been attentive, caring, kind and awesome. The owner, the director and assistant director are all awesome. They are always friendly and supportive. My daughter is learning SO much and she will be more than ready for Kindergarten when that time comes. There are not enough stars in the world that I can give to this school. Grayson Academy has TRULY been a God-send. The people here are one of the very FEW people that I can trust with my child. My daughter was at a different school already [and had been for the past year and a half] when we toured this school. When I came, the person who gave us the tour was Ms. Syterra [who was so sweet, answered all of my bajillion questions, and gave me such peace]. I was very quickly impressed with what I saw, the level of organization, and what stood out the most was just how clean everything was [and I came in the middle of aftercare which is usually a very messy/chaotic time for most schools]. The menu options were very impressive! Food options listed were foods that I would eat myself, and they serve breakfast, lunch, and snack. I also love that they have cameras; definitely great for extra piece of mind [we only have one child so we're very over-protective of her and all that goes on with her]! My daughter was in the Advanced Pre-K program which you had to be tested for. The advanced Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Della Dickerson has the heart of gold!!! That woman truly has a gift! She is such a blessing to all of the children and their parents and is such an asset to Grayson Academy. My daughter came into the school knowing only how to write her name and she left writing paragraphs. The curriculum in the advanced Pre-K class is unbelievable and with all that Mrs. Della instilled in our daughter, she was able to skip Kindergarten all together. And it's not just academics, the children learned life lessons, how to properly conduct themselves, proper hygiene habits, interpersonal skills and so much more. The level of quality education far surpassed anything that I could have every fathomed. Imagine your 4/5-year-old reading complete books on their own, writing paragraphs, conducting science experiments, creating AND presenting their own class projects, doing math, telling time, spelling sight words, exploring nature, going on enriching field trips, and so much more [and at an affordable price, might I add]. Mrs. Della went above and beyond in every single aspect and it showed in every single one of the children. Never have I met a teacher so invested in the success of their students. We all became one big community, the children and the parents that supported Mrs. Della every step of the way helped to ensure that this was a COLLABORATIVE effort in ensuring our children's achievement. This has been the best school year yet! Everyone here played a pivotal role in our child's success. Special shout outs to Ms. Jennifer for the lovely meals that she provided daily to the children, Mr. Melvin for always transporting the children safely to and from their field trips, Ms. Takisha, Ms. Farah, and Mrs. Marin for making aftercare such a delight for all of the children. Ms. Syterra for always being the smiling face at the front desk in the morning, Ms. Tashida for being the owner of this amazing facility, and last but certainly not least , to Mrs. Della Dickerson for being the absolute best teacher in the whole wide world and for being an outstanding role model to all of the students. You're not going to find anywhere else that takes the children on as many field trips and does as much fun and enriching activities with them like Grayson Academy did ESPECIALLY at the price point that they're charging [which was VERY reasonable]! My son has attended since he was 2 years old and is now 9. The teaching staff is amazing. They potty trained my son, and taught him to read and write. When he was attending private pre-k he was learning Spanish. My son has always been an honor roll student and I have to thank Grayson Academy for that. So after I wrote a review on my toddler who I took out after she was bite on two different incidents, YOU DECIDED TO GIVE MY HUSBAND AN EVELOPE WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING AND AS HE GOT HOME WE READ THE LETTER THAT STATED OUR THREE YEAR OLD WAS KICKED OUT BECAUSE OF OUR NEGATIVE REVIEW. Your handbook states you would talk to the parents before doing so, which did not happen. My 3 year old had no issues so you shouldn't have taken it out on her. She loved going to school and the morning teachers are great. Even the toddler room the MORNING teachers are great and I stand by that. The morning toddler room teachers are really great and pay attention to the kids. Now afternoon and evening when Mrs. Nikki arrives is a different story. Three different incidents were always with Mrs. Nikki, and she was not the one who wrote the incident report which she should have been. The director will always provide an excuse for everything and does not hold herself accountable for anything. I did ask if I could call 911 because I was highly upset and in the moment but you did not decline because you weren't even there, another teacher was, but I was speaking to my mother. Another teacher who was at the front called you up to the day-care which you kept stating you were on the way to school. (I could careless where you were going, you should have been focused on why my child was bit and why there was not an incident report done until the next day. In the handbook it states the parent would be called and I was not called. I received one report from Ms. G and a different report two days later from the director. I was not able to review the camera that recorded the incident after I received the second report that was completely different from the first. So let me clarify the morning teachers are great, I truly loved them, but Mrs. Nikki comes in at 1pm and I would not recommend anyone bring their child here. The three year old room (morning teachers) are also great. The director who is rude, disrespectful to parents/grandparents, has no idea what actual occurs in the toddler room and the ratio was 2/13 toddlers per the director report to me. It was very unprofessional to kick out my three year old when she did nothing wrong, you didn't even have the courage to speak with me or my husband, so because we didn't know until my husband came home with my three year old, we had all her stuff still in her cubby. THERE IS A POST A MONTH AGO FROM AN EX EXPLOYEE WHO WORKED THERE AND EVERYTHING SHE SAID ABOUT THE OWNER AND DIRECTOR IS SO TRUE. I wasn't going to post anything about my daughter getting kicked out or what occurred last week when her class n a few parents, myself included attend a field trip but since you want to respond by lying I will speak about it. They took the three year old room to legoland in Atlanta. I'm so happy I went because it was crazy once we got there. They let the children in a play area and there were older kids who were knocking the younger kids down. A little boy in my daughter's class fell on his head and I ran to pick him up which the director was on her phone laughing. I went up to her to advise what just happened to the little boy and thankfully his mother was there to tend to him which she was very thankful for my help but I would have helped any child who was hurt. The director should have picked a place that was age appropriate for three year olds or reserved the place for a few hours so the students could enjoy the play area. I would definitely advise the parents to attend the field trips if their children are younger because they didn't provide enough teachers on the trip to help watch students who didn't have a parent with them. In the handbook it stated your child must be there by 9am because if not he/she could not go to day-care without a Dr note until I 2:00pm-3:00pm. This was the first time I was told what time I had to bring my child. So don't be late or they will turn your child away until 2pm. The director claim it was so they didn't disturb the children or their head count but they don't take into consideration if a parent has a flat tire, traffic, etc. Overall the director made the situation much worse!!!! Any working parents looking to enroll their child into a safe competent learning environment DO NOT enroll your child into Grayson Academy. The staff is highly incompetent when it comes to handling simple behaviors and lack skills such as redirection when dealing with children's behavior. They will call and blow up your phone everyday while you're at work for any and everything your child does that they should be capable to handle themselves. They also think fist bumping your child in the forehead as a form of "affection" and appropriate way to touch a child. My child just turned 4 years old and today I was called yet again and asked to come pick him up because he swiped finger toys off the table and was trying to lift a table (he couldn't the table was too heavy). When asked how it lead to that they couldn't answer, when asked what they did to redirect his behavior they stated they have 14 kids in the class and can't give him one on one attention, they just asked him to stop or offered him to play with something else. That is NOT redirection. Then they proceeded to show me a video of them just recording him trying to lift the table with other kids around it, they say he could have flipped the table (my four year old is Incredible Hulk apparently) yet didn't try to remove the other children from the table just stood there silent stupidly recording him being "dangerous." This has been a continual rollercoaster of my son being suspended for simple things such as not coming to circle time or being labeled as aggressive because he threw a toy. I've had meetings with staff to try to understand their method of doing things and gave them suggestions on ways to handle simple behaviors. All these things kids do and though not ideal behavior should be met by adults who are supposedly professionals that know how to handle situations like these. The teacher made rude comments to my child saying he looked like a clown when he wore his favorite overalls thinking he wouldn't come home and tell me, when I addressed the staff of possible BULLYING from his teacher they tried to coach him into saying it was a child that said it, it's a wonder they expelled him the next day. In another instance I was called because he didn't want to stop playing in center and was told he hit a teacher, when I asked to see footage that led up to the incident because the teacher tends to stretch the truth their system somehow was down on that day and they couldn't show me footage. That is a RED FLAG! There are several parents I've talked to with these same issues. Today I asked staff what training my child's teacher has been offered to help her deal with a child who may need a little more redirection than others. My grand children went here for a few months. I did find the owner very unfriendly for someone thats runs a daycare. I wanted to talk to her about a situation and thought she should know about it and she acted like she didn't care and to refer to the Assistant Director. Just so you know, there 5 stars are from the staff member that work there. I saw children with runny nose's all the time, that at times I would personally give the child a tissue. Love love love this center... My daughter started here when she was a couple of months old in the infant room and she will be 4 tomorrow and she is current in the Private Prek class. The teachers are awesome and well educated. The staff is very welcoming and always smiling. I was scared about putting my baby into daycare due to not knowing anyone here in Georgia. I have to agree with the post below do not enroll your child in the toddler room. I have observe Grayson Academy personally and the room was full and they wanted to put my child on the waiting list and I decline. I am thankful I did. The children there in that class seem out of control, and it was apparent the Toddler room need additional help. Just walk in and ask to see the Toddle class. Ask to speak to the owner, who seems to have an attitude. I can believe the post below. If you read the post. She said don't put your child in the Toddler Room, maybe that's why she brought her other child to your other class, even though I can understand the conflict. When I walked in their in had a stinking smell and to see a bit of a picture like that and to see you as a owner take that lightly, I hope other parents realize just from that not to enroll their child in your daycare. My son has been going here for 4 months and it has been the easiest transition between daycare for me. I tried to go to a few other daycares in the area and they were horrible. This daycare was more affordable and the teachers are very attentive and always have activities organized for the children instead of having them run around crazy. The hours are great and so is the staff. My kids walk in and greet the teachers/staff, which makes it an easy transition in the morning!

My daughter has been at Grayson Academy for a little over a year now and we have been very pleased. Her teachers have been loving and really care about the children's well being. Not only that, but they TEACH not just babysit. When we ask her about what she's learned, she always has an answer and sometimes surprises us with what she knows! I'm always greeted with smiles from everyone and the classrooms are clean. There have been many times I logged into the camera and see the teachers mopping & wiping down tables. I honestly tried with this facility, especially since they are so close to my home. But They are too busy trying to cut corners and save money to think about the best interest of their customers. I was told that my infant son needs to be there by 9:30am because they start sending workers home based on how many kids show up by 9:30 (which is ridiculous! I'm paying $200 A WEEK, I should be able to bring my child whenever I want!) OR you can bring the child after 2pm IF you call by 11am. Well Monday was supposed to be my child's first day. We called before 11am to let them know my son would be there at 2pm and we were told that a worker called out so we couldn't bring him. You want to be paid but think its okay to tell me I cant bring my child because one of your workers called out? unacceptable! The next day when he is being dropped off at 2, they tell us that they are giving 30 day notice that there will be no more 2 pm drop offs. The child has to be there by 9:30 or they cant come. Crazy because during orientation just a week before I let them know that I didn't plan on my child being there all day because his dad doesn't work until late so he can stay home with him in the morning and was told that they do 2pm drop offs for that reason. So I immediately found a new day care that would fit my Childs needs but we paid for this week so we figured he could finish the week off. I was done because their rules just don't work for our family but the 3rd day really showed their true colors. We called at 9:20 to let them know we would be a few minutes late and were told that he could not come a few minutes late. ARE YOU SERIOUS? WE PAY YOU!!! How can you not try to accommodate your customers being a few minutes late to drop a baby off after they've already paid you? Again, ridiculous! Not to mention the condescending attitude and tone from whoever answers the phone. I called many other daycares and none have a silly rule that you have to drop a baby off by a certain time because they pay their people to be there all day as they should! They also let you come tour the facilities after hours, unlike these people who want you to have no idea how they look on the inside before placing your child in their care. I love this center. Every single classroom from the infant class up has an actual age appropriate schedule that is followed. I have had children in this center since 2010. My children are older now and my grandchildren (ages 3 months and 2 years) both attend. I have visited many centers and even the more costly ones were not up to standards. My daughter was reading by 3 years thanks to this center. I am sad to see the recent slander I'm the reviews here because a parent who reads it may miss out on a true blessing because of someone's bitterness. I couldnt help but notice that this Yvette person has written slanderous reports for multiple daycares. I firmly believe that if you are so unhappy with every center you should keep your child home where apparently only you can care for them correctly. No human is perfect and no center is perfect but with Grayson Academy I found something close to that. I have two children that attend Grayson Academy. One in the Two's and one in the PreK class. They are both learning a tremendous amount. They have teachers that extend themselves and pay great detail to each student. Both of my children clean and smell fresh every time my Husband an I pick them up. I can always expect a news letter and a new song/learning lesson each day. The teachers are very hands on and the Director/Owner has an open door policy. She is very personable and genuine. I would recommend Grayson a thousand times over. read more
