I asked him for the Scottish ice cream experience as today was my last day in Scotland. He told me about flavors that he had from different regions of Scotland, and the ice creams that have won prizes in Scotland. I went with his recommendation of lemon honey and it did not disappoint! I also ordered vanilla. It was a perfect combo. The ice cream tastes so good! I wish I had this shop close to my house! This place is awesome because it is owned and operated by Scottish locals. The shop also offers smaller Scottish treats. We purchased Scottish butter cookies to take home with us. This was the best ice cream shop. The ice cream was so fresh! As has been said previously, they have only two flavours at a time with the option to mix. When I was in the options were plain (which I think is a standard) and banana. I opted for the plain and splurged on an oreo topping. The yoghurt was very tasty without being overly sugary - big plus. The small serving was ENORMOUS as well as being pricey (£2.75, I think?). I would have much preferred a smaller portion with a smaller price. All in all it was ok but I probably won't find myself itching to return - my recommendation would be to advertise their flavour of the day on their website or Facebook page, and to create a smaller and more wallet friendly serving size.

I learned that Affogato means drowning, so clearly the idea behind ice cream drowning in coffee :-) Also beware! This was my experience with the ice cream flavours. The S. Luca ones were great, but definitely more light compared to the fuller flavour of DiRollo. I had a double cone with Peanut Butter Crunch (a smooth Peanut Butter Ice Cream with crunchy chocolate covered nut pieces) as well as the absolute standout Turkish Delight ice cream which was gorgeous. I'd never have thought Turkish Delight would go sooooo well with ice cream, but it was a winner. No matter which flag you fly in the ice cream war, Musselburgh can count itself very lucky to have two such fantastic parlours.
