WATCH OUT! Their is a revised review to.better clarify my position There is a response below to Dr. Markowitz's response which he totally left out 2 of my 3 complaints. Having moved from Hallandale 45 minutes from Boca I was looking for an easier way to get ONLY cleanings and made that emphatically clear to everyone at Great Boca Smiles that I had a dentist I was not leaving and if they found anything during a cleaning I was going back to Hallandale to have the work done. I told them I just finished dental work two months prior. They said they needed X-rays to check for bone loss to substantiate what they saw and then give me the treatments. I asked them to call to get them from Dr. Simon. They never told me or asked to do updated X-rays to confirm their diagnosis.My X-rays were 9 and 12 months prior to this visit but they did the Clindamycin treatment just the same. Clindamycin is used for abscesses and I had none. Charging to wash the Clindamycin on gums is absurd. $40.00 for 5 treated gums and $15.00 each to spray some water in my mouth to get it off. Then I was charged for their dental club which I asked them to return that fee since it was never going for future dental visits I was told no.. Instead they sent me an email with the plan description. They figure'd I'd walk away since they knew I'd never come back.I live on a fixed income and I can't throw $350.00 down the toilet so give it back.i hadn't used the plan and even if a small discount for whatever was applied it should have been pro-rated. I went to my regular dentist, Dr. Simon for a second opinion and he insinuated Dr. Markowitz was unscrupulous and my mouth was fine. He even took X-rays for free, probed every tooth where they used Clindamycin and there was no change with any of my gums or teeth. Also the 4 crowns he said I needed were unnecessary and that comes from a specialist in the field. When you live in Boca they think they have a license to steal. If he wants this review taken down give me my money back. $540.00 to be exact. I asked for a cleaning and I was taken to the cleaners and that doesn't mean dental cleaning. RESPONSE TO DR. MARKOWITZ FIRST I DID CALL AND NOBODY CALLED ME TO STRAIGHTEN ANYTHING OUT. If you think you deserve the money for treatments send me the literature about how Clindamycin oral treatments work and why you had to examine my teeth when your hygienist was told I did not want you to do any work or to touch my teeth. My dentist said he never heard of such a treatment. He also said my 4's were stable and needed no treatments. You had no dental history whatsoever. Waiting until the next visit would have been more prudent with fresh X-rays and a dental history from my dentist. FYI:You we're supposed to call Dr. Simon, whom you know to discuss my dental history and treatment plan. You did not! Deduct your Dental plan, ridiculous gum treatments and consult. If Your hygienist didn't scare the crap out of me I would never have agreed to the treatment since I take incredible care of my teeth. I waterpik literally after each meal or snack, floss even under my lower bridge, use the gum stimulator, regular Crest toothpaste for the gums, use TWO toothbrushes (Sonicare and Oral B electric toothbrushes) 3 times a day and Perodex RX toothpaste before I go to sleep. I had a cleaning 4 months prior to visiting your office because I couldn't get an appointment with my regular hygienist for another 2 months since I didn't book early enough to see her sooner. Since I usually have a cleaning every three months it would 6 months to get my next cleaning. That was too long between cleanings for me. Using 4's as a gauge for treatments is ridiculous especially if you saw my dental history and that they were 4's for years and stable.i did not know that when you said I needed treatments. Clindamycin didn't change any #s in my mouth so throw that my BS my gums healed. If you had my dental history you would have known because I had Sjogren's the gums will never improve. Dr. Simon watches for further deterioration before he would fix anything more. If he thought I needed anything you said he would have fixed it two months prior when he finished $22,000 of dental work. He knows my mouth. You never took the time or effort to check anything. You only mentioned the treatments in your response to my review. Funny how you left out all the unnecessary crowns you planned for me. Why's that Dr. Markowitz? read more

Dr. Markowitz has been my dentist since 1999, with the exception of 6 years, while living out of state. BEST dentist I've been to; contentious, honest, and more importantly a perfectionist. Not only did the wonderful staff squeeze me in, but I was able to see the get my X-rays, and see the dentist right away. My whole visit only took 30 minutes, sadly my tooth required a specialist but I was given the proper medication to tide me over till I could get in. A routine cleaning was paid through insurance , however it appears my teeth required an additional deep cleaning. This is no difference other then ( Ching ) another fee. $$$. My husband has been going to Dr. Markowitz before he became a big shot dentist. My husband started out with Dr. Markowitz when he was just in a strip mall.I started going to Dr. Markowitz, I had extensive amount of work done with Dr. Markowitz I knew I had some issues with my teeth and was very satisfied in the beginning with him and his staff. His old office manager was very accommodating and worked with us and our insurance company so we would be able to continue coming to Dr. Markowitz to keep our teeth up to par. I would trust Dr. Markowitz and his staff. Dr. Markowitz nickels and dimes you his staff does not make you aware of what your insurance company will include in teeth cleanings. However not paying attention and not reading my insurance policy it was my own fault for having to pay extra for things that my insurance company covered. In April I was having a lot of mouth pain in the top right of my mouth. Since Dr. Markowitz does not do root canal's anymore he subs you out to a different doctor I agreed to go to the different doctor, after three root canal's I was still in a lot pain and would complain to Dr. Markowitz that I was still having pain in the top right of my mouth I went in twice I had x-ray done I had scans done and was told that I had TMJ in the back top right of my mouth. In February 2021 I decided to go ahead and have a permanent crown, and I had cleaning done with Dr. Markowitz and dr. Markowitz did a exam and told me everything looked good. I went to the office he cut my gums I paid the $1500( cash) and had my temporary crown placed back in my mouth, two days later the temporary crown fell out and I was having throbbing pain, unfortunately I had to wait until Monday morning for the office to open to get an appointment. I called the office unfortunately I was not made a priority, considering my gums were bleeding and throbbing and was told to come in at the end of the day. I find that to be wrong considering I have been in his chair and have waited hours while he sees 3 to 4 patients while in the process of doing work on my mouth. I decided that I didn't want to go back to his office. I called the office and spoke to Maria the office manager who by the way is very nasty and will be little you on the phone and in person. I told Maria that I wanted my final product that I had paid $1500 for and then I will take my tooth to a different dentist. As nasty as she could be she told me no. I told her that she holding my tooth hostage and I didn't think that was fair. On March 1, 2021 I decided to go to a different dentist to get an estimate on how much it would be for a permanent crown and have my tooth bonded back in my head so I wouldn't have to walk around with the post sticking out of my gum. Upon the different dentist x-rays I was told that I had a cracked top right tooth with the cavity and the bottom right tooth also has a crack in it, I now will be losing my top right tooth because I can't put a filling over top of it I now need a crown. Dr. Markowitz dismissed me three times on the top right tooth. I also came in and paid emergency prices because the top right tooth was bothering me so badly. because of his negligence and his unwillingness to take extra time out for his patients I will be losing my top right tooth they can't save it. If you want to Dentist that's going to overcharge you and have his office manager treat you like garbage, Then great Boca smiles is a place for you. read more

Also, upon return I had to wait at the reception quite a long time without explanation. Years back I had some bonding done on my two front teeth and unfortunately over time the bonding discolored and made my front teeth appear yellow. I was very conscious and unhappy. The doctor is a very pleasant personality. Unfortunately, my experience was not great at all. He said that my filling is old and needs to be replaced. After that work was done my tooth is sensitive for over a year. Before it never bothered me. He also told me that I need one more filling but I could not do it at that time.
