This is located in a strip mall located near Pennsylvania Ave in Downingtown, closer to Kimberton and Planet fitness. The parking is shared, and plenty. You can check in via their page to reduce your wait time. This place is not usually crowded and has fewer wait times than most nearby locations. There are closer to 4 stylists working at a time. They are friendly, I always had good experience with this location. They do honor coupons for services, including haircuts, and staff is okay with that and doesn'thesitate. I have been using this business for several years. Today I checked in online, arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled time. There were two employees (neither of which I had even seen more about that later) and each was taking care of a customer. One young man was sitting in the waiting area. When I walked in my name was at the top of the list and remained there. After the first customer was that employee motioned the young man to the chair and never looked at me or spoke to me. When the other employee finally began with my cut (30 minutes) after the appointed time I asked what was the deal with just happened. I was blown away by her response "He came in before I arrived (after I was on list and before I arrived) and we forgot to put his name on the list" totally casually as if that was fine and no apology. I have gone there many times es over the years and it's exceedingly rare that I see the same employee twice despite the fact that I go midweek in the afternoon to avoid a rush. I rarely even see customers. On occasion I have seen the owner there and watch consistent rude behavior towards customers and employees. Why do I even go there? It's close by and I don't have much hair which takes at most ten minutes to cut. read more

Son just received a terrible haircut at Great Clips in Downingtown. Thanks to the Caln team for fixing it. Stay away from the Downingtown great clips unless you want a crooked block. I have to say that I have actually liked a few of the Stylists who work at the Downingtown, PA Great Clips. However, the Owners of this Great Clips and the Great Clips in Pottstown, PA have implemented a business model that has their Pottstown, PA Stylists travel (an hour each way) to their other Great Clips in Downingtown, PA on a "rotating" basis. My point is that if you find a Stylist that you like that day, you probably will never see that Stylist again, as they are not stationed permanently out of that location, they are actually from Pottstown. They are made to travel. Kind of ridiculous when you think about it, as Stylists like to build a "book of business" with their skills and repeat customers. I like going back to the same Stylist, as it's much easier for them to pick up where they left off and they know what you want. I realize each Stylist leaves notes in the customer's record as to what blade they used, etc., however, it is not the same. As a customer, we feel we have to start over again with a different person to just do it again, with someone new, in the next few weeks. There would be no point in a customer continuing to go there as their choice of Hair Salon. read more

OMFG you just fu**ed my hair. You stupid hair specialist, I bet you can't even shave. I waited 11 months, grown my hair long and you just fu**ed in few minutes. How can you do that??? Are you licensed to mess up peoples hair??? Such a horrible experience. I asked you to cut half on the side and trim on top and front. Your answer was ok and turned my chair so I could not see in the mirror for what you are doing. You cut my hair short, gave me a deep scissor cut on the left side, my back hair is longer than the sides, my left side hair is shorter than the right side. When I asked you, you messed up my hair, you say I look good in this hair cut, WTF. And you tried to offer me a discount for ruining my hair. S'alright.... your typical chain, I guess. The guy there has been there for a while and my son has gotten good hair cuts. Coupons are good BUT here's some loopholes: Must have the coupon on you, can't just scan. Expired coupons no longer accepted. Coupon can only be used once, cannot be used for both kids. Not sure if it's new management, but just doesn't seem as customer service friendly, or that management trusts the stylists. read more

Not a terrible haircut-- it serves its purpose of trimming hair; but every time I go to a Great Clips that's literally all they do--cut and trim. They market themselves as "stylists" but in reality they just cut what is already there. They don't make sure that the hair will look nice if it's parted differently, or styled differently, they just leave it the way it is when you came in and cut the amount off you asked for. The only question they ask is "how much do you want off" and they do that. And 9 times out of 10 the "stylist" doesn't even make conversation with you. Prices are good, and coupons are good, but If you're looking for a place that will style your hair rather than just clean up the ends, I wouldn't recommend Great Clips. read more

Never heard of a company that turns away business when a person does everything right! Great clips in Downingtown doesn't know how to treat their customers. My son checked in online using the app but it said that he had to wait an hour, he left a half hour in advance of his appointment and received a text message to come in to get his haircut, upon arrival the receptionist then tells him that she took him off the list and she tried to call him twice but he didn't answer...but he was driving to the appointment so that's why he didn't answer his phone and as a 16-year-old new driver, he has been told he can't answer the phone when he's driving. He was on time, still had the text message saying that they were ready for him to get his haircut and then was told he was taken off the list because he didn't answer his phone?? Why they were calling in the first place, doesn't really matter because he still checked in and still arrived on time and did everything correctly. This is ridiculous and they should've still let him get his haircut, but she seriously told him that he would have to wait another 82 mins longer to get his haircut. What?? I didn't get an apology when I called the salon, nor option for the next day to come in to get his haircut or even a free coupon offer, nothing... Disappointing, I'm angry and they need to learn how to treat their customers! read more

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to get a hair cut. The stylist took personal calls before taking customers, the stylist also talked bad about her other coworkers in front of 5 clients waiting and myself. Very unprofessional, and very very slow. read more

Terrible experience, I was having difficulties with my son getting a haircut and was looking for guidance, all I got was attitude from Theresa. She was so unhelpful, no I didn't know what he wanted but it is her job to help me. So we left and on the way out she yelled"he didn't want a haircut anyway" totally unprofessional. I will never go there again and I will be sure to pass this along to everyone that will listen. read more
