Beware Bad Covid Policies!!!! With Covid we are all unfortunate victims of last minute changes and unforeseen tragedies, losing business and money as a result is now a regular. In my commission based field, I've been taking a lot of financial hits due to Covid. I get it. But I suggest finding a salon with a better cancellation policy, and with enough tact and kindness to not punish a person for having two young children battling Covid. I was told by the manager that "I could have given them more than two hours notice" with what can only be described as the equivalent of an eye roll, this after explaining that I was up all night with a miserable baby and a worrying fever. My "excuses" of exposure and a DEATH were apparently not as important as Danielle's 3 hours without me in the chair. I found a salon with a far better policy, closer! They are out there. Actually traumatizing. I went for a simple trim and long layers with Danielle and after a very rushed and aggressive appointment, I left feeling frustrated. After getting home I realized that my hair is a different length on my left side than my right. Danielle was chopping my hair very fast, yanking my head with it. I reached out to the contact for the Avante on the Go services and got pricing and stylists for myself and wedding party for the day of the wedding. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Krystal for a cut and color. She is awesome!!! We chatted about the wedding party and what I was thinking for the wedding. I was able to go back a few times before the wedding including my trial. She was able to give me an updo for my bridal shower and Danielle did a mini makeover, so I felt my best on the day of the shower!! The wedding day was perfect. Krystal and Bella did a truly awesome job and every girl was VERY happy with their hair style. They drove into the city bright and early and had everyone finished with time to spare. Dottie the wedding coordinator was so helpful and accommodating with setting up a large number of appointments for my bridal party. I have been a client at Avante for at least 4 or 5 years. I started out with a stylist who ended up moving, and I have been getting my cuts and color done by Celeste ever since. It can be difficult to change stylists especially when you are happy with your look, but the transition couldn't have gone better. Celeste is a GREAT stylist. I trust her knowledge and skills and my hair always looks great afterwards. To be able to find a hair stylist that you can trust and always get consistent results with is PRICELESS! Avante has very flexible hours with weekends and evenings available for appointments. Plus, if you book your next three appointments in advance, you get a discount on your third appointment. Their prices for services are also very reasonable. And I am happy to say that unlike some Main Line salons, they do not charge you extra for a blow out after your hair cut! I've been going to Avante on Main since it opened about 5 years ago and it's a wonderful salon. Frank and Dottie are my primary stylists for hair cuts and color. They really listen to what you want and always deliver a fabulous look. Caitlin also curled my hair for a special event last week and did a wonderful job. The receptionists Amanda and Vienna are always helpful on the phone and in person. I don't have kids but I see children in the salon often and they seem to be well cared for. I got my eyebrows and lip waxed, and came home thinking the redness would go away. 12 hours later, my face is still red and my skin broke out like crazy. This is the first hair cut I've had in about a year so i really needed it. Corey did exactly what I asked for, made me feel at ease and was polite. There was no real consult other than her clear distaste when I said I was thinking about bangs again. When scheduling the appointment I specifically pointed out I had long hair. When she went to dry my hair she seemed annoyed and said next time I need to let them know my hair was long so they knew to allow more time. I sent a message to svante about my concerns and never got a response. Disappointed to say the least. Plz note in the picture, I asked her not to touch my long layers which she thankfully did not. He has been cutting my hair for more than a year now and has done an incredible job with my color and cuts ~ At my first appointment I was completely gray and looking for a big change - and I got it! A beautiful base color with incredible highlights. He was so supportive and creative in helping me this big decision - after creating my dimensional color design - I looked 10 years younger! Most important my stylist: CHISTIE B. - Christie is terrific. She is one of the best when it comes to color, cut, and styling ... She works quickly; however, never makes you feel you are being rushed so she can get to the next client. Most important, she listens to what I want done, and discusses what would look best. If I were reviewing Hans, there wouldn't be enough stars, he's that good. But I'm reviewing the salon. Every time I call I have at least a 5 minute hold time on the phone to simply make an appointment. I'm originally from NY and even the top salons aren't that busy that they keep a client waiting an absurd amount of time to make an appointment. To add insult to injury, the last time I called, on hold for over 6 minutes, I was disconnected. So Avante, if you want to be known and considered an upscale salon, you need to stop making clients jump through hoops to be connected to the location of the caller's choice and have enough staff to answer the clients call in a timely manner. That's customer service 101 that you need to implement. read more

I went there one time and my hair is literally ruined. I have fine, delicate hair and the color is nowhere near what I asked for (showed several pictures that I brought to avoid this). It is so over-processed that it looks like straw. I am telling everyone who asked what happened not to go to Avanté. Their "Redken certified" colorists may need a refresher class. read more

I just went in with a wedding party and thought the service was great but the outcome of the hair product was really bad. Kate C did my hair and took a long time and was great to work with but Celeste did my girls (ages 7 and 9) and their hair was falling out within one hour of leaving salon and $50 !!!! per kids that was a bit much. There were two other kids there ages 3 & 4 with almost no hair and they charge $50 for each. The hair should have been $10 or $15 at the very most. Another bridesmaids hair starting falling out on the car ride back to the hotel I am not sure who did her hair. My final thought is they are over priced read more

Really nice team here at Avante. It was my first time visiting the salon last month and I was given the red carpet treatment. The stylist asked lots of questions and cared about my hair and making sure she had all the correct information. Never stepping foot in here again! After a foil and cut, I got home and realized the back looked ridiculous and not at all even--major blonde/dark brown contrast. I reluctantly called the stylist to explain my concern ( first time ever calling with a "hair problem") and she was rude and told me its what I asked for and if I want it fixed, I have to make an appointment with the front desk and pay again. I then spoke to a manager who said I would not have to pay, but when I went in for the "fix" the stylist was cold, rude, and abrupt! She repeatedly explained to me why it was my fault that things went wrong with the initial appointment. I am not a dramatic person and never complain about customer service experiences, but I wanted to cry the entire time I was there. I will go to the Avante in West Chester again, but never to Exton again. read more

I moved to West Chester about 8 years ago and have tried EVERYWHERE to find a good hairstylist. I just got home from an appointment with Kate Curran at Avante on Main Street and I am OBSESSED with my hair. She understood what I was asking for (bleached out ends, some highlights around the face, haircut that wouldn't take off a lot of length and would grow out nicely). She did exactly what I asked for and I couldn't be happier. I just came home and my husband (who didn't want me to get a haircut bc he was worried I wouldn't look beachy anymore) couldn't stop staring at me. Kate knows hair. And she's cool, so she's up to date on the latest hair styles. She just got home from taking classes on hair in NYC and is taking more this weekend. The woman is a shear genius!!!! I started going to stylist Jamie who is so very good! I first went to her for color correction for a bayalage treatment gone bad. Jamie safely (which is key when doing highlights on fine hair) fixed my color, using multiple techniques to achieve the desired result. After such a good experience, I recently when back for another color treatment (looks fab!) and hair cut. She took the time to assess all aspects of my current 'do, from color dimension to thickness to styling habits in order to color and reshape my cut for the most optimal style for my hair type and personality (also taking into account what is trendy). This is the best haircut I've had in 30 years - no exaggeration. She is super knowledgeable and clearly takes great care in her approach. Cannot thank or recommend her enough! read more
