Sometimes places can be so judgey about taste preferences, but the folks working here held space for each other... it was endearing. (Also, I can't wait to read the dragon smut one of them is writing!) Other pros: 1. Lots of free parking 2. While it's smaller than other Barnes & Nobles, the selection is still impressive 3. It's a very clean and tidy store Obviously, support local first. But if you're looking for a slow-paced, welcoming spot to spend a little bit of time (without feeling rushed or forced to purchase something) finding your next favorite read, I'd suggest visiting here!

Oh my goodness what a wonderful time we had here! A local business mentioned the Alpaca tours as…read moresomething fun to do with our grandson while we were in town, and I'm so glad she did. I began knitting two years ago and love alpaca yarn, and the thought of being able to meet the alpaca that I am knitting from just seemed so cute. Mike was super friendly and very informative. There were 8 total people in our group (our 5 plus a family of 3) and he was engaging with everyone. Our 5 year old grandson started out a bit unsure but Mike was very encouraging and our grandson was able to really open up. What a great experience for kids. The shop is filled with yarn from the alpacas, and they make sure that you have the name of the alpaca as well in case you need more at a later date. I mentioned we would be back later in the year and would love to take the rug making class and they let us know we can schedule that through them for a date that works for us, so if you don't see an experience listed for your dates, call them or send them an email because they will work with you!

We had considered replacing the chairs, but for less than half that expense we were able to keep the chairs we've enjoyed for almost fifty years. What a fun little discovery on my way into town. I have passed this place a zillion times and had…read moresaid I would stop eventually. Well, stop I did, to see if they had a gift for a friend's birthday. First, I love any store that smells like balsam as you walk through the door. The scent makes me feel like a kid again. I'm not from Maine (have been here long enough to feel at home), but as a kid we used to drive here from Ohio and spend a few weeks going up and down the coast. The smell of balsam reminds me of these trips. Second, I was shocked by the variety they had. Maple syrup, Maine souvenirs, crafting supplies, wooden figurines, and antiques. The have a sign stating that they "glue chairs". I didn't know that was a thing, but apparently, it is... They also sell wreaths and Christmas trees during the appropriate season. And finally, the owners were as nice as could be. They had out hot chocolate for the kids, and they wrapped my little gift up neatly. This little shop is well worth the drive into town because of how darn cute it is!

I have ordered multiple pieces through here over the years and always had wonderful and straight up fun interactions with the other two people it is the only jewelry place my friends and I go to and was just a bummer all around.

She is mostly non-verbal but has plenty of smiles and high fives for her friends & staff at the center. Loves going out for snacks (who wouldn't?) & even shopping for them, which is NOT a favorite most of the time @ home. Interesting activities and field trips which are usually in the local community but some are further. She LOVES to ride and gets plenty of that daily! Great community resource for our adults with special needs. The staff are WONDERFUL and most appear to love their jobs. Very important in this field.

December 5th was the last Gardiner Art Walk for this year. It was a balmy 8° outside, the coldest…read morenight so far. But the smell of homemade meatballs lured me into the gallery! Yes. Meatballs. Alan Claude studio always has fabulous food for art walk night, tonight was meatballs and tiramisu. Delish!!!! I looked through the 8x10 prints to find some winter scenes to bring home. But did get a little overwhelmed by the amount people sharing the gallery and shop space and had to duck out. But! He always runs a really good sale for the 8x10s, where you can pick three for one set price. So I've made my list, I'm checking it twice and I'm sending my Santa back to pick them up. Nobody how busy the gallery is, Alan himself ALWAYS makes a point to greet every single person that steps in the door. He's also happy to take photos and sign art!
