My partner-in-crime's sister was getting married and the wedding day events were spread all over…read moreLake County. The bride and groom hadn't made provisions for a shuttle and the reception was a solid 20 minutes from the hotel along dark, windy two-lane roads. Problem. I started plotting a way we (me) could avoid driving that evening, looking into cabs, car services and anything else I could find. Knowing a number of other guests shared our transportation concerns - we all wanted to be safe, but no one wanted to be a designated driver - and there were limited transportation options in the immediate vicinity, I started looking into chartering a school bus. I requested quotes from a few places and found First Student the easiest to deal with. I plugged all of the event information into their website and got a quote in about 24 hours. Other quotes rolled in days later, if at all. The bride and groom enthusiastically accepted our offer to provide the shuttle as our wedding gift to them. My manfriend called and finalized the arrangements, receiving an email confirmation with all of the details. Since my partner-in-crime was in the wedding party, I was in charge of meeting the driver and making sure things went as planned. Our driver, I forget his name, made that job easy. He was awesome; he pulled into the hotel parking lot at 5 on the dot and left exactly when I asked him to for his first shuttle trip. I rode the second shuttle to the reception and he got us there quickly and efficiently, like he drove the route often. We agreed that he would leave on the hour to take people back to the hotel as needed, which again went off without a hitch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend First Student again. Arrangements were simple and our driver was prompt, friendly and flexible.

The Lake Bluff Metra station is generally pleasant and useful…read more Good: the building is attractive and comfortable, in a woodsy Craftsman style. Bad: there are no benches to sit on at the outbound platform, as there are on the inbound side. Good: a ticket seller is present in the morning weekdays, to early afternoon. Bad: they lock the bathroom by early afternoon. Are they afraid I'll steal the paper towels? Good: the station is in the center of town. Within walking distance: a Friday farmer's market, several restaurants, banks with ATMs, a brewpub, grocery/deli, bike shop, post office, city park and public library. A small coffee shop is in the southern part of the station early on weekday mornings. Bad: there isn't anyplace within walking distance to get breakfast on a weekend before 9:00 AM.

I like that it's very close to some restaurants, in case you come early or want to grab a bite before your trip. The only thing wrong with this station is that sometimes the lady who you purchase your ticket from isn't there when the signs say she will be, which can cause issues on the train later (it's a higher fee for purchasing the ticket on the train if the train station is open). For the most part this has never been an issue for me, but you should always try to plan ahead. Other than that, it's a great station, much better than Great Lakes.

Spent 20 minutes on the phone with David booking "the last room" and providing all my personal info plus credit card #, sailors name etc. I was told "congrats and you will get a confirmation email shortly" The following day I still had not received an email so called again. Spoke to someone who said no record of any reservation. I asked for a supervisor and spent another 30 minutes with Johana who after providing all my info again ended up telling me " I'm sorry but we cannot accommodate you". I kindly asked can you at least please provide me with another name of somewhere close by then and was told " I'm sorry we cannot provide any recommendations". Wow!! Good thing we did not show up from out of state as we would have had no place to stay! Huge disappointment- I caution any family to stay elsewhere!! Worse is what did David do with all my personal info & credit card number!!?? Now we are left scrambling to find somewhere else to stay.

The room had a television cabinet, easy chair, table, and chairs. Since we were in a kitchenette, we also had a big fridge with freezer, countertop stove, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. The bathroom and dressing area are spacious and well designed. The rate was $135 with no taxes or fees. staff: Front desk staff were great. Our key cards were ready when we arrived. Because of a snowstorm on the morning we left, the front desk offered ice scrapers to dig out our vehicles. common spaces: There are tables and chairs in the lobby for use at breakfast. Appears there is coffee round-the-clock. food and beverage: No bar or restaurant and only a handful of places in North Chicago, but Lake Bluff and Lake Forest are nearby with tons of options. The complimentary breakfast is just fine. Bonus points for the Navy's logo appearing in the center of the waffle press! other: The lodge has a large vending area with ice and filtered water. Plenty of surface parking right outside.

Check-in was quick and friendly; staff were warm and helpful from start to finish. They keep things professional without losing that personal touch. Big appreciation for the shuttle driver. I didn't catch his name. We booked the 7:00 AM shuttle and rolled up to the gate 8 at 7:09. By 7:13, we were seated inside the venue. Meanwhile, we passed a line of cars at least 100 plus deep--easily an hour + wait, maybe more. If you're attending graduation: don't drive. Seriously, you'll regret it. The shuttle is reliable, fast, and way less stressful. The rooms were neat and functional. Pillows were firm, which we appreciate. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and clean, with solid Wi-Fi. It's quiet, pet-friendly, and perfect if you're bringing a four-legged sidekick. Continental breakfast is basic. Boiled eggs, package slices of bread, bagels and fruit,. Basically, grab-and-go items to start your morning, but don't expect a full spread. Still, it's convenient for early starts.

The man was yelling and waving his hands aggressively talking about who was going to get off first. We were shocked, upset and at all loss of words. We said that we didn't know. I recorded the whole event. I had an issue with this same bus monitor about the same situation this past year. I was able to call the safety representative and I got an new driver without any problems. This guy is always rude and surly to children. I talked to the safety manager and she barely investigates at all. She comes back super fast and gaslits me by claiming that it never happened. The bus monitor was in the backseat so the cameras couldn't pick up on this guy movements! I tried to tell her this and she yells at me to go to the district. She hangs up the phone in my face and I didn't even get an chance to tell her any of my concerns or questions. I left her three voicemails which I recorded. I was as polite and respectful considering the situation. Then she goes and blatantly lies and says that I was harassing her. Mind you without any police report. Also even if she tried it would be thrown out as I was only asking her to do her job! Then she permanently takes away my children's services. Now because of her my youngest son doesn't have any reliable transportation considering the fact that he is special ed. This place has an horrible track record of ignoring their customers and not taking any accountability. Yall should go to any other place but this one I'm working on filling an potential lawsuit!! Also her name is Kimberly Guyman. If she has the audacity to lie and claim I was harassing her. Then she must have the audacity to be named!!! Her extension is 5 by the way!!!!
