This morning upon leaving Wal-Mart I observed a man standing beside my vehicle taunting my dog, as I approached unnoticed he got in his truck and continued taunting my dog. I got to the vehicles and asked him why he thought he needed to engage in his behavior. He said it was barking at him and I said "really! She's in a locked vehicle with all the windows closed (it's winter so don't worry) and that there was no reason to be taunting her. He told me, and I do quote "A dog like that ought to be shot!" Now, I will admit she's a big lab and does bark loudly but as I said she was in an enclosed vehicle. He went on to tell me that she was taunting him and I said that if a dog could taunt him he was pretty stupid and that she was just protecting her vehicle, her territory. He asked me at that point if I knew what he did for a living, which I did know because it was plastered all over his truck, and said " I kill animals and stuff them!" which was a threat to my dog. I told him once again you don't stand there and taunt an animal that is already agitated and that it was pretty childish behavior. I have nothing against taxidermist, they do wonderful work but as a hunter that relies on my dog I don't recommend someone that has this attitude towards dogs. read more
