To my surprise, I was later charged with an urgent care fee, which was never discussed or agreed upon prior to the visit. This unexpected charge felt unfair, especially given the circumstances of how the appointment came to be. While I understand that veterinary practices can be busy, the lack of empathy and communication has led me to reconsider my choice of veterinary care. Unfortunately, I cannot confidently recommend their services to others.

When I arrived early the office door sign said covid masks required and no more than one group in waiting room. This is what I wanted. I was masked and am a vulnerable senior. Inside, the receptionist was not masked and when I asked, she said the dr. refuses to wear one as well. The UPS guy came in with a load, also unmasked. I walked out upset and frustrated by the lack of concern, especially as I asked if they mask when I set the appt.

I can only hope this warning saves you from dealing with this place. Now, the history.. I started going to DR Norton while he was still dating his assistant (now wife) prior to 2013. At that time, they were expensive, but the care IMO was worth the extra money. (You get what you pay for) This was while they were located by the refinery/that side of town. Then, they moved to their current location.. It slowly became more difficult to get seen, and Dr Norton was always busy.. Over time, it was clear it's all about $.. Schedule as many patients and push them through as fast as possible.. I still decided to go there, as I figured they'd get things figured out eventually.. Fast forward to now... "Best friends" is now owned by a private equity group. While it's common that the previous owner/vet stays on staff, (Norton) he no longer has a vested interest in the business's success. It's a job.. To the private equity group that now owns Best Friends, it's a money machine. They don't care about your pet, only how much money can be sucked from ppls wallets. That said, I'm certain theres a few good ppl and veterinarians that are/have worked there.. They seem to go through veterinarians pretty fast though.. Usually someone different at every appointment. So I would be interested in talking to one thats cycled through to get the behind the scenes scoop on why the clinic turned into a failure. (By care standards) they probably make plenty of $ now. So, a success to the private equity group who gets it. Maybe? If you choose to ignore my warnings, read the other reviews. Plenty out there.. I'm just trying to save you the stress and your pet the discomfort. If you still choose them, give it time.. You'll see i was right and have your own regrets.

They confirmed someone was available to help. Yet when I got there, I stood outside ringing their doorbell for almost 20 minutes as my dog died in my arms. It broke my heart and I'll never forget that moment. Of course, they still charged me the $300 emergency fee on top of everything else. Ive had so many rough experiences with veterinarian offices in the past, so i've staggered cautiously and carefully. Two Rivers eases all my trust issues - They take the time to explain everything to you, and I mean the TIME. In the past with other clinics- i've left visits super confused almost like I didn't absorb any of the information. Here, they go over options, talk over multiple scenarios and sources. Doctors here are super knowledgeable and resourceful and really nice and respectful! Nurses are gentle and patient, i'm just so pleased. Costs are super efficient as well as procedures. We have about 4 barn cats, 2 dogs and we were coming here almost every other week in October / November because either one had ear mites or the next cut their dew claw (doc saved me a 400$ dollar bill just sticking it up that afternoon w / o anesthesia cause my pup was willing) ... Dr Petersen told me he had a heart murmur with only 1-3 months to live and to bring him back in January and he would put him down. I was devastated. Her dog became ill in early January so I thought "this is it" and took him in. Dr Petersen said "If you get the flu do you get out a gun and put it to your head?" "Death is permanent". He then wanted to run a bunch of diagnostics as to why the dog was ill. I declined the diagnostics and left in tears. HE told me to bring him in. I did not want to put him down! I called later to schedule my other dog and they told me I am no longer able to do any pet care there. I was shocked! Embarrassed! They totally judged me - and are out of line. Dr Petersen was heartless and rude. My mom's dog passed away last night from congestive heart failure with the kind support from Big Sky Animal Medical Center. GO THERE!
