In the end, we waited about another 15 minutes until a group of four came in, and only then were we seated at the big table and shared it with them. Overall, we waited for more than half an hour. I felt the arrangement was not very thoughtful. It seemed like they didn't want extra work and were expecting larger groups, so even though there was a free table, they still didn't let us sit--only for us to end up sharing anyway after waiting so long. As for the food, each table gets a complimentary soup. We ordered the Beef with Bean Curd & Vegetable in Hot Pot and the Chinese Sausage and Chicken with Chinese Mushroom. Both dishes were decent and flavorful. The claypot rice was the highlight--you could scrape a good amount of crispy rice at the bottom, though I wish the amount of chicken in it was a bit more. They also gave us two small pieces of red bean pudding at the end, and we were pretty full by then. Overall, the food was good, but the service felt pretty average. I would recommend coming during off-peak hours if you want a better experience.

It was fine. Im not a huge fan of this dish but my relatives thought it was decent. I wont rate this as I almost never order it and dont think it would be fair. fried sweet milk - I did not like this. The milk was very subtle in flavour which is fine, but it tasted like they just fried it in the same oil they use to fry savoury foods and this made it taste weird and also very greasy. It did not taste like "old" oil gone rancid though. It was piping hot and very crispy on the outside though. 3/5. HK style coffee/milk tea mix (iced) - barely taste any coffee, mostly just tea, and very watered down. good mild sweetness level though. 3/5. The place is old and I was told its been around for decades. Clean enough inside the dining room but the bathroom left something to be desired. Big free parking lot out front in the plaza. Other than that service was quick and ambiance was typical HK cafe style, rambunctious. If you aren't bothered by that then it's fine.

The signature dish that jumped out at us was the $11.95 Chongqing Spicy Deep Fried Chicken. The dish came fast and furious out of the kitchen. This chicken was crisp & tender with decent seasoning under a mountain of dried chilli peppers, and had sugar to balance. It was still on the salty side as northern cuisine is heavy & bold. This time we tried the $13.99 Szechuan Sliced Fish with Pickled Vegetables, in a huge cauldron of heated broth. We should have ordered with the fresh fish instead of the sliced basa. $8.95 Pork Slices in Spicy Sauce was a classic which we didn't pass on. And surprisingly, a large bowl of $9.99 Minced Meat Thick Soup was a crowd pleaser to balance out the heat. The taste is authentic, the portion is good enough for two people I'd say. The service was great as the two waiters were attentive and taking care of all the customers very carefully. The best part other than the taste - the price! I ordered one Gongbao chicken, two rice and still it was just $16! And when I left the tip, they brought the change that I refused to take. They don't even expect tips! Note - they told me they take cash only. I had to go to the atm to get the cash. So, better be mindful and ask on phone in advance if they are accepting cards or not. No music, but still very peaceful. There's ample parking available outside. I will pay a visit again, and again, and again!

I liked all the little details and ornament-like items that they used for the eating utensils (e.g. golden-plated chopstick rest, fancy soup bowl akin to the bowls used by Chinese emperors, etc.). They had both English and Chinese menus for you to choose. Although the service and overall experience were above average, the food was just average. The stand-outs for me were the Crab Meat & Corn Soup and Seafood Garlic Fried Rice. The soup had actual chunks of crab and a lot of corn, which I liked. The Seafood Garlic Fried Rice was moist and contained a good amount of seafood (small scallops, pieces of shrimps, shredded imitation crab). It was delicious and flavourful.
