This was the highest rated Chinese restaurant in Ocala and we wanted to go for Chinese New Year. There are three tables when you go inside. It's definitely geared more for takeout. They say they're NY-style Chinese food, but I think it's really just American Chinese food. They have all the things you'd expect from a takeout Chinese place. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. Perfect restaurant, best in Ocala and we've probably eaten at almost all of them. First off, I hate crab Rangoon, but I will travel over an hour to get The Great Wall's crab Rangoon. And their shrimp eggrolls are out of this world. They are also excellent at cooking tofu. They braise it so it doesn't get hard. It's the perfect texture. On the hunt for good Chinese, we noted that the approval rate was one of the higher for strip mall Asian. Worth a try. First thing, it was clean. That's always the first assessment for any eating location. I also noted that the front cooler had a better selection of bottled water/ canned beverages. We ordered house fried rice. shrimp lomein, 2 won ton soup, 2 fried dumplings, 2 fried spring rolls, and were given an order of krab rangoon. The order was around $63. The only thing I would order again is the house fried rice. It had large shrimp and other proteins , was moist, and ate well. The lomein was SALTY!! And it contained chicken as well as shrimp- not what we ordered. I tried to add additional lomein noodles and water at home to reduce the salt proportion but it was minimally successful. The wonton soup had a generous amount of large wontons but the broth was too weak and flavorless. I added some of my home ingredients (homemade beef broth and pho seasoning) which made it acceptable. The fried dumpling were also a sizable order (8) but they were over fried and tough. The sauce was flavorful but WAY too concentrated. Thinning it with water and using it scantly helped. The spring rolls were too deeply fried for us. The insides were uniformly crisp. The duck sauce- "homemade" as they proudly note, was good. Finally the krab Rangoon was fair. It must be repeated that their portion size was surprisingly large throughout. That was very apparent. But it's too far to drive for a quick Chinese treat that doesn't meet far more of our tastes. read more

Had it many times, fast service, always hot, and prices are just right for these days. Have at least once a week. I've tried many, but I give it 4 out of 5 stars. I was so looking forward to this place. While waiting there for my food to be ready the place was nonstop people calling and coming in. I thought for sure it'd be the best Chinese food ever. My spring rolls were not good and I couldn't even get one down then threw the other one away. My wonton soup was delicious and I ate the entire bowl. Thank goodness because my Szechuan chicken was terrible. When ordering it I asked for it to be spicy and also asked and paid for shrimp but got chicken instead. The gentleman who took my order said that it's already spicy and I said then make it extra spicy. It was not spicy AT ALL! It tasted like sweet and sour sauce and I couldn't eat it. Caught my eye when we came to do the nearby escape room. Nice little seating area. Very clean inside. Large menu. The family that runs the shop were friendly and extremely helpful! After they could guess that we were there for the first time the gave us a free order of cheese rangoons! Everything was hot and fresh and yummy. My wife and I were in town back in November and had a craving for Chinese cuisine. Not knowing the area, I punched a quick search on my iPhone. This place came up. We were a put off by the location, it was in a strip mall. However we went in anyway and boy are we glad we did. At first we thought it was a takeout place, but there were two tables there and the nice young lady behind the counter set us up at one of them. When the food came it was fabulous!!!! The portions were huge, we had two more meals with what was leftover. I was back in town on a Sunday in January but unfortunately they were closed. We have been wanting to try this place after reading all of the great reviews, but it's 20 miles from home. So, we decided to visit Silver Springs State Park and pick up lunch on our way home. The good....the people were nice and the portions were generous. The crab rangoon was very good too. The bad....the place appeared not clean; tables were not wiped and the floor was dirty. The 2 dishes we ordered, Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken were EXACTLY the same, with the exception the of sesame seeds sprinkled on the one dish. There was mostly breading and very little chicken in both. The General Tso's Chicken was sweet, not spicy at all. We were very disappointed and will continue our search for decent Chinese food in Ocala. read more
