I learnt through play and fun the basics of English, and I enjoyed those extra activities school organized to discover nearby Stanford, Palo Alto, and San Francisco area from different angles. How I missed my friends and the good times we had during those festivals, museum visits, tours... miss my host family, and the neighborhood, it was great and convenient. The attention to details and the effort put forth by teachers and the staff as a whole was also remarkable. As a person who came from a different country and culture background I was welcomed and respected with the utter most loving people. I want to thank them for helping me learn the language as a living breathing entity. I want to thank them for teaching me everything I now know about the language, and thank them for the best experience as school can give. For me this is a school hard to leave, and I can't imagine a more invigorating place to learn English. Thanks everybody from Language Pacifia, and I'll always miss you guys! PS: Sophia, Ruth... You guys rock!

A few years back we were searching different after school programs especially those with Chinese…read morelearning, and we are so happy that we found D&T for the kids. Now they still really enjoy the curriculum and have much progress in Chinese and also other enhanced programs. They enjoy so much that they would like to go to D&T for summer programs as well. Ms Kelly and her staffs have spent much effort in the educational programs both in the Chinese speech and writing aspect but also the cultural activities. The curriculum is versatile and thoughtfully planned, and there is a good balance with outdoor activities as well. Not only the kids are very happy after school everyday sharing lessons they learn, but also they express that they would like to practice more at evening and weekend voluntarily. I am also very impressed by Ms Kelly's attention to details for each kid, reflected by how she communicate with the parents on each child's personality, behavior, and learning. We always have good communications on how we can help the kids improve their academic and behavioral performance, and she makes great suggestion in those areas and always seeks for mutual agreement. The philosophy of the school and also the way they are doing it is outstanding. The location is very convenient and the facility equipped with so many different fun things for learning and for leisure purpose. I highly recommend D&T for any parents.

I decided to try this center for backup care after reading many positive reviews, but…read moreunfortunately, my experience was disappointing. About an hour after I dropped off my child, the principal called and urgently asked me to pick him up. I was told that my child and another child had argued over a toy and that the situation escalated into a fight. My concern is that if staff noticed the conflict developing, why wasn't it addressed and de-escalated at the time? Redirecting or separating the children would seem to be a basic responsibility of the caregivers. I also question how the situation was handled. My child has attended preschool and childcare programs for the past 2-3 years without any similar incidents being reported. While disagreements between young children can happen, I was surprised that a backup care provider would ask a parent to pick up a child so quickly rather than first attempting to manage the situation. The principal's communication came across as rude and unprofessional, which made the experience even more frustrating. Overall, I found the response lacking the level of care, judgment, and professionalism I would expect from a backup care provider serving children ages 4 and up. Based on my experience, I would not return.

Challenge School - Autumn-themed activities at our 2022 Fall Break Camp

Challenge School

Our son spent two years in the Butterfly class at Challenge School's San Mateo campus, and…read morehonestly, sending him here is one of the best decisions we've made as parents. When he first started, he was a quiet little boy. He'd come home from his old, all-English school and barely say a word about his day, and making friends never came easily to him. That slowly changed here. From his very first days, Challenge felt safe to him, and bit by bit he came out of his shell -- chatting about his friends, laughing more, growing into the outgoing, happy kid we'd always hoped to see. Watching that happen has meant more to us than we can put into words. So much of it comes down to the teachers. He adores Teacher Francis and greets him with a hug every single morning, and there's a genuine tenderness in the way the teachers treat the kids -- right down to the little nicknames they have for each of them. What really stayed with us, though, is how the school shows up when things get hard. Last year our son got bigger and full of energy, and his afternoon nap started keeping him up later and later at night. Bedtime turned into a nightly battle -- some nights we were still at it past midnight, and the whole family was exhausted. When we brought it up, they didn't just nod and move on; they sat down and worked through it with us. They offered to move him to the after-school class, and -- knowing how much his friends mean to him -- suggested he could still spend his mornings with his original class so he wouldn't lose them. His sleep eventually sorted itself out and we never needed to make the switch, but the fact that they were so willing to bend for one family told us everything. His Mandarin has blossomed here, and so has his confidence in English. He mostly speaks Mandarin, but Teacher Hanan gently coaxed him up for Show & Tell each week, and he went from not wanting to say a word to standing in front of the class and telling his story in English. The teachers keep a close, caring eye on the whole child, too -- they check in with us often about how he's doing with his learning, his play, his communication -- and they're always adjusting to help him along. And it's simply a joyful place to be a kid. He's forever bringing home crafts and drawings, he helps look after the classroom plants, and he counts down to every holiday they celebrate -- Easter, Halloween, Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day. We're deeply grateful to Francis, Hanan, Nicole, and everyone at Challenge School. If you're looking for a warm, bilingual preschool where your child will be truly seen and truly cared for, we couldn't recommend it more.

Then teacher Shanshan reached out to provide me with his surprising progress at school. They even refunded our potty training fee for the month that they thought he was ready although he was still having accidents. Without their honest feedback I wouldn't even know he "graduated" from the teachers' kind evaluation. I also love how talented the teachers are with photography and art. They document the kids' daily routines and learning projects beautifully. Getting those daily photos and artwork completely takes away my working-parent guilt.

The teachers were warm, steady, and really attentive, and that made a huge difference for us. Fast forward and now he's graduating for Kindergarten, which is honestly emotional. We'll miss Magic a lot. Magic helped our child become a real little reader. He started bringing home "level books," and now he grabs books on his own and asks for the same favorites over and over, especially Pete the Cat Goes Camping and Little Bear. It's become one of his favorite things to do. In the preschool program he loved the routine and the fun stuff, especially Thursday dance class and the monthly field trips. Around age two we hit separation anxiety and the "terrible twos," and the staff handled it so patiently and professionally. They helped him settle, regulate, and feel safe. We also really value that Magic offers English, Chinese, and Spanish. It's been a big plus for our child and for private school applications. We're truly grateful and would absolutely recommend Magic Education.

All the teachers are very nice. They not only teach the children with all different things (Chinese, English, Spanish, handcrafts, drawing, story telling, etc), but also take very good care of all the children. Teachers always update to parents with how the children did during the day when they are picked up. They know every kid very well. Facility is also very good. Bright classrooms, big yards with different toys. They keep everything clean. Hot lunches and snacks are also very good and healthy. A LOT of pictures and videos every day through APP. We really appreciate this, and it makes us feel very connected. We know what exactly happened in the daycare almost every hour through out the day. Ms. Coco also gives child growth report to every family with well organized one on one meetings twice a year. Very detail engaged. We feel very reassured to take our son to Magic Education, and definitely recommend
