They stopped selling to the public, went in yesterday and they told me I wasn't allowed to purchase.

Plenty of parking but the plaza can get quite busy because all of the businesses and eateries located within. Market itself is well lit and I think just a smidge more organized than Island Pacific though it is a bit smaller. All of the uncs post outside and hang outside this market though. Chowking has an entrance into the market and of course it has it's hot deli section, seafood and butcher section, good amount of fresh produce and lots of imported Filipino foods, cooking goods, cosmetics, and other items. Cashiers are pretty friendly even with a slight language barrier and I've never had to wait too long every time I've shopped here. Funny instance of my boyfriend cosplaying Astolfo, buying Red Horse beer here and someone recognizing his cosplay and asking for a picture immediately.

So, this Filipino supermarket sits right at the crazy intersection of a super busy street. you…read moremight need a map and a small prayer just to find parking. It's a bustling shopping center, so parking can be a real headache. think musical chairs, but with cars. Once inside, you'll notice the aisles are about as wide as a handshake! seriously, it's like playing bumper carts with your shopping cart. But, the star of the show is their fresh produce. So many tropical fruit-galore! You can get papaya, all sorts of bananas, jackfruit, basically a mini vacation for your taste buds. They've also got a fresh meat section, plus an Asian snacks corner that's like a treasure chest of goodies, perfect if you're hunting for that unique bite. And let me tell you, some of their offerings are downright wild; like chicken heads and legs you won't see anywhere else, plus packaged beef and pork blood!!! yep, blood in a grocery store! I'm not exactly sure what to do with it, but it sure is a conversation starter. And speaking of interesting finds, they've got all kinds of liver; beef, chicken, pork. I grabbed a few things, including some fresh fish, which they'll clean for you, though, if you want a full fillet, forget it. They'll just chop off the head and tail, maybe scale it, but no fancy filleting here. All in all, I'd give this place a three stars. It's not the cleanest spot, let's just say the whole store smells like a seafood market at low tide. And with only two cashiers, you might feel like you're aging in line. But if you're on the hunt for those rare ingredients and don't mind a little chaos, it's worth a visit!

I was in the mood for seafood, when my buddy said, "Hey I got a place we can go in La Puente." I…read moresaid, "La Puente?!? (With a frown and clear doubt) He replied, "Bro, trust me, I used to come here with so and so and it was good.!" I said, "Really?, ok let's try this out." I was still full of speculation and hesitant. I then asked, "Where is this at? What street?" He replied "off Amar." I said "Amar?!" (That made it even worse...) LOL!!! For those of you who haven't ventured off into "No Man's land" of La Puente, Amar Rd., I will just say this ... you better know your street smarts. To my surprise we arrived and I said, "dude I have driven past this location many times" (I was still not impressed.) He said, "Bro, let me order, I got this!" I said ok. Since he knows I am a true die hard Yelper, I stood by and observed everything. To my surprise, the service was great. The fellas cooking definitely knew what they were doing and the food was very delicious and fresh. If you ever want to experience a fish market and restaurant that has a feel, sound and taste of Mexico. Then there is no need to drive 3 hours to the border. Just drive East, past the 605 Freeway or North 605 or wherever you're coming from... Just put it on your Navigation App. LOL!!! Just come with someone who knows true Mexican Costal Style Sea Food. You won't regret it. Just make sure your head is on a swivel in La Puente! LOL!!!
