They shuttled us into the Chesapeake Bay and got us on fish very quickly. Each veteran took turns reeling in Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel. We could not have asked for better weather or seas. The fishing was so good we limited on bluefish by 1045 and missed our limit on mackerels by one. We cannot wait to work with Captain Billy and his team again.

This little hidden gem of a park is perfect when you want to enjoy the outdoors without the crowds, playgrounds, or screaming kids. Even on a busy holiday weekend, I was able to sit outside, soak up the sun, and do some painting in total tranquility. A few people were fishing off the nearby pier, and others were strolling by, but overall, it was wonderfully quiet. It's the kind of spot you'd easily drive past without noticing--and honestly, I hope it stays that way. There's nothing quite like a peaceful, quiet park to clear your head.

Unfortunately a few bad storms came through and made some damage to some of the walking bridges but there's still enough space for one to explore. There's several local businesses close by to Grab a snack. The park has ample seating for everyone and even benches close to the pier. If you plan to fish...bring a license. The area is stocked several times a year but that doesn't mean it's any easier...on this particular occasion I did well but there have been some other times where well my son did better. Whatever you do....don't allow your kid to bring an iPad lol...I've seen one of ours fall in the water...and although we got it back...it was never the same

Parking is just beyond and plentiful. The park offers trails, fishing and boating as well as the separate dog park. Restrooms are located at the trail head by the water. They were extremely dated and no soap in the men's room. There is a water refilling station which is a bonus. I came to hike and there are options on length. There is a 2.9 mile trail, Lookout Tower. You can add two + which is did for a total hike of 5.75. The trail was overall easy with some elevation changes. The challenges were the tree roots. Some of path is nice along the water. Other parts are paved along the road.

Excellent for an easy walk, the paved path stretches 1.5 miles, past some nice (and admittedly less than nice, but ostensibly safe) landscapes and locations. On the map, this was indistinguishable from nearby Dameron Marsh. Upon arriving, I was surprised by…read morewhat I found here. A short boardwalk leads to a genuine beach, one of the larger and nicer ones I've ever seen on the Chesapeake. Don't get me wrong, nobody's surfing on the little waves the bay generates, but it's still got a nice beach aesthetic and a good view. Several cautions are warranted, including the obvious risks of biting insects (not so much on the beach, but definitely on the inland track) and jellyfish. But I was surprised when a local told me that some of the marshy areas and the stream where a lagoon flows into the bay are prone to developing quicksand, to the point where people can get seriously stuck. (Unlike in movies, quicksand is not likely to drown you on its own but I still would not want to step in it). So watch out for that and bring some bug spray. Plant and animal life was abundant, and between the forest, the marsh, and the beach, there was a variety of scenery. So little of the bay is open to the public and preserved in this way. And this is not a park per se, and so unlike most state parks, this is free to enter. The parking area is small, and signage says they do not allow parking outside the lines, so visitation will be limited simply by space. But if you see a space open there, I'd take it.

This park is fantastic. There are only 11 parking spaces, so access is limited. The trail through…read morethe woods is beautiful. Some of the trail is raised wooden platforms. The beach is amazing. It is rustic and beautiful with marshlands and wildlife. There are two hiking options. One is interior and goes in the woods. The other is beachfront. Both trails are great. There is one point where there is a small inland marshy lake. It is usually connected to the bay. The water here is usually flowing in or out depending on the tide. Be very careful trying to cross because the sand is soft and you could get stuck. It is remote, so you might not easily get help. The wildlife in this area is great. Sometimes I have seen hundreds of flapping rays just off shore. Birds, fish you never know. Fo and enjoy this special treasure.
