They also have a picnic table and a grill under the shade so you can cool off during hot sunny days. They also have a little trail that leads to a sandy area. You're not allowed to swim there, but we just dipped our feet in the water to cool off a little. The people working at the park didn't seem to mind us in the water. We did try crabbing but didn't have much luck. Since the pier is really high, you need a lot of string and a long crabbing net. We had a lot of fun!

The Fallen Outdoors Team Virginia scheduled a charter for 8 military veterans. Captain Billy and…read morehis Deck Hand Tommy are a top-notch crew. They shuttled us into the Chesapeake Bay and got us on fish very quickly. Each veteran took turns reeling in Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel. We could not have asked for better weather or seas. The fishing was so good we limited on bluefish by 1045 and missed our limit on mackerels by one. We cannot wait to work with Captain Billy and his team again.

Parking is just beyond and plentiful. The park offers trails, fishing and boating as well as the separate dog park. Restrooms are located at the trail head by the water. They were extremely dated and no soap in the men's room. There is a water refilling station which is a bonus. I came to hike and there are options on length. There is a 2.9 mile trail, Lookout Tower. You can add two + which is did for a total hike of 5.75. The trail was overall easy with some elevation changes. The challenges were the tree roots. Some of path is nice along the water. Other parts are paved along the road.

A bunch of years back Walmart super store had Employees picnic type of food bunch at the park. I…read moremissed when management of Williamsburg super store did this for the employee's. The wooden area is very beautiful and the day was sunny to partly cloudy with a light wind blowing.

It is difficult to avoid contact with poison ivy. Probably only if you stay on the main road. I reserved 2 campsite: one for 6 people, another was claimed as for 12 people. They are of the same size and advertisement still did not change. Comfortably you can set just one tent on the gravel surface.
