I've been searching for a reliable hair salon for the longest since coming to Cal and have finally found the one! I came in today asking for round layers and Kaitlyn did an amazing job. I showed her a reference photo and she went above and beyond to execute it. She was super precise and took her time cutting my layers, checking in throughout the process to make sure I liked the length and how it looked as she cut it. I got my hair washed which was so relaxing and Kaitlyn applied a hair mask after noticing my dry ends which was very thoughtful too! She also used various products after washing and before blowdrying that left my hair feeling soft and shiny. If you're getting layers, I'd definitely recommend adding on a blowdry as well. It's so worth it because she takes the extra step to blend the layers together and perfect them after. Overall, it was such a great experience and I'm so so happy with the results. The salon is very clean, modern, and uses high quality hair products and tools. The staff are all very kind and talented in all aspects of cutting and dying both women's and men's hair. The price was also pretty fair for the care and attention to detail that was dedicated during the appointment, too. I'm glad to say she's my new go-to hair stylist, and I definitely recommend this place to those looking for a good salon near UCB campus with affordable prices :) read more

I asked Kaitlyn for a haircut that would help make my hair "look full" and specifically not a V cut but more of a straight/"U". I also wanted a combination of curtain bangs and see through bangs. I went to a different salon in South Bay that cut my bangs unevenly and too short. Kaitlyn was transparent and let me know that because some sections were short it would be difficult to achieve a type of curtain bangs I wanted from a photo I showed her. (Spoiler, she did absolutely amazing and saved my bangs!) Kaitlyn took my ambiguous words and wonky bangs and delivered exactly what I wanted! Saying that I am in LOVE is an understatement. Every penny was worth it. The price was more than fair, especially considering the time, transparency, and attention to detail Kaitlyn put into fixing my previous haircut. I went in to get a haircut, bleach, and color yesterday and am extremely happy with the results. Gigi is amazing! She was able to look at my reference photos and execute perfectly! My hair is very dark and she did a great job with the bleach so that there was minimal damage to my hair. Prices are reasonable. Made an appointment for 10 AM haircut. Arrived at 10 AM at the same time as a family with two children. The stylist said very curtly that they don't take reservations and my reservation had not been confirmed. But the website never said it had to be confirmed. She took the other two people before us. She was quite rude about it and never apologized for having an inaccurate website. Won't go back. read more

Gigi, Kaitlyn, and John are all so talented (just today, John made my damaged, fine/slightly thinning, hair look as good as it possibly could). Kaitlyn did really nice bleaching for me, very careful since my hair is pretty fragile (bleach and dye to black multiple times), no hair break, and the product she suggested is pretty useful. I've try bleaching my hair as light as possible in US, Japan, and China, but for this level damaged hair history, would really recommend Kaitlyn for the result and its price. The first time I visit we bleach for 12 hours straight to remove the black dye and make it bleach clean. Thanks to Kaitlyn and Gigi I really appreciate that. Afterward Kaitlyn also helps me get a really ugly brownish dye off from a careless hairdresser, and gives me back the even light blonde just like the first time, she saves my life. read more

This is my go to spot for a haircut. It's a block away from where I work and I just pop in to see if they have time for me real fast. My girl Kaitlynne is always consistent no matter what kind of haircut I want. (I've been experimenting with different hairstyles. All I have to do is show her a picture and she'll cut it in a way that also fits my face shape, looking sharp every time. She's incredibly attentive as to what I'm looking for and what I like. She's also really good at telling me if she's too busy and to either come back later or a different day. I'm a pretty regular customer here and stop by about once a month, on a few occasions, Kaitlynne gave me a call to let me know that she's free for a haircut when she saw I stopped by earlier that day. She is incredibly sweet and the prices here are low compare to other places. Highly recommend. read more

Disappointing experience. I tried to get a haircut with Katelyn and was told she couldn't take me 3 separate times. The first time I went in on a slow Monday around 2:00pm, she tells me she has to do a color and is booked the rest of the day. Ok so I decide to come another day. So this time I make and appointment, she tells me she has someone booked at the same time as me and can't take me. How would system allow me to make an appointment then?! Made no sense and their calendar didn't show she was booked. She claims this is a personal appointment and is only on her phone. Then she said she has to spend 4 hours doing color with this person. How unprofessional and a waste of time. Didn't even apologize for the mix up. Be prepared for a long wait to be seen. Do not recommend Katelyn but the other people there are nice and professional. read more

We have come here a few times and booked an appointment on the website. Every time we come they are "running behind" and we wait 45 minutes to an hour. There is always availability on the website so this appears simply to be a way to lure you into the shop so you wait. Today, the wait was nearly 70 minutes. read more

This salon has been wonderful. I can speak for Kaitlyn's work - and as for someone who had previously never dyed and/or bleached their hair (I have thick Asian hair), I was put at ease enough to go through with the whim, having answered all my many questions clearly. I'm really happy that I did. I was able to go from virgin black to silver blonde with a small man bun in one session. She used gentle levels of chemicals and was extremely patient, detail oriented. It was clear she enjoyed the quality and process of her work as well as connection with her clients! Kaitlyn is great :) highly recommend her for any coloring needs. read more

Great, super affordable haircuts (~$25)! I have super thick hair, which they spent a whole hour cutting, layering and thinning, really paying attention to the quality of the cut. They asked me a few times for input during the haircut and would make adjustments I expressed happily. Really appreciate them, would come back any time! They are nice, they do a great job, they work fast and the price is cheap. You can go for a walk-in and probably have to wait 20 min or book an appointment. There's a salon a few stores down, and nothing against that salon, I havn't used it myself, but purely based on what I've seen, the quality of haircut I see leaving GreatKuts vs the high end salon next door looks about the same. read more

I had made an appointment online for a haircut with a stylist, but when I got there, it turned out that the stylist was not working that day. I waited a short while and was able to get my hair cut by another person, who then told me they don't actually take appointments for haircuts, just for things like color and perms. That is contrary to their website, which allowed me to make an appointment for a haircut (with a stylist who wasn't actually going to be there). All that said, the stylist who did my hair (John) did a fine job. I'm not in love with my haircut but my hair is difficult and he worked with what he had. I really appreciated that John saw that I came in a mask and put on a mask himself without a word - that was very respectful and kind. read more

Sweet staff but left my hair uneven. John even admitted that he cut my hair too short on one side and said that there was nothing he could do because he had already cut it. I asked the other lady to please help fix my hair and she sent me back to the guy who messed it up. Didn't ask for a refund or made a scene, but couldn't help but cry leaving the salon. read more

She's the only hairstylist I've been to where she really knows how to work with naturally curly hair--other stylists leave my hair looking bushy and unkempt. I highly recommend booking her if you have curly hair and you don't really know what kind of haircut you are looking for. She will guide you through the process on what would look good on you and how certain styles affect the shape of your hair. I have been going to this salon for over 4 years. The cut is always good. They only take appointments for color. I had an 11 am appointment and waited 25 minutes for Kaitlin to show up or let us know she was running late. I finally left. I will not return as this wasn't the first time. It is rude to keep customers waiting and not even know if your hairdresser is showing up. read more

Great Kuts - Great Services I went here twice, once for haircut and just got my hair colored done yesterday by Kaitlyn. Super satisfied! Both Kailyn and Gigi are very nice and experienced. My hair was dry and dead but Kaitlyn gently took good care of my hair and actually saved it. Highly recommended!! Another bonus point is the salon always neat and clean. I sat there 5 and a half hours doing my hair and saw they always wear masks and require customers wearing mask + use disinfectant spray after every customer left. read more

Been meaning to write a review for this place (but kept forgetting), as I have been getting my hair cut here once a month since they first opened last year. When I walk in here, I usually have had my hair cut by either Kaitlyn or Gigi, and they have both done a fantastic job each time. They're communicative and cut my hair to the length I ask for. There's also another hair stylist that's cut my hair recently (not sure if she's newer), but she's also done a great job. As for the place, it's clean and spacious. They follow Covid guidelines, with all of the staff and customers wearing masks, and all the hair stylists are friendly and great hair cutters. The convenient location with it just a short walk from me and their soft opening promo is what first got me in the door. But The consistently great and even hair cuts are what's kept me coming back. read more

Best haircut place in the Bay Area, guaranteed! Even during this COVID-19, they are very safe and follow the right safety protocols to follow the health guidelines to help cut hair. Support local haircut businesses! I made an appointment a few days before and called ahead. They scheduled me for a 1:00PM haircut for women's hair and did a fantastic job! I walked in with my mask and everyone was socially distanced and cleaned the area for haircut before I sat down. They were very kind to sit me down and cut my hair!
