This used to be a happening hotel back in the early 1900s where celebrities and some Presidents…read morehave stayed. You can see the pictures on the walls and enjoy the historical elegance. The building was converted into condos and that explains the industrial style toilets that can flush anything. I would love living here for both location (nestled in Mt Vernon) and historical ties but the washer/dryers are limited (I think there are two per floor). There is The Owl Bar downstairs and the The 13th Floor lounge on the top floor with amazing city views.

They have a few rooms that can rented for meetings, fashion/ art shows, etc. If ever in the area, and you have time, stop in.

There's also many items of war memorabilia throughout. I'm not sure if it's open to the public at all, but it's pretty nice inside.

We stopped by Jericho Covered Bridge when visiting the Historic Jerusalem Mill Village last…read moreweekend. The bridge was constructed in 1865 and crosses Little Gunpowder Falls. It is open to traffic so be careful of passing cars if you walk over to take photos. It may be one of the six last remaining covered bridges in the state, but it's not so easy to get a great shot of due to the vegetation near it and the number of cars and cyclists that cross it. Still worth checking out if you're in the area!

Originally constructed in 1865, the Jericho Covered Bridge is the last remaining covered bridge in Baltimore and Harford counties, and one of only six remaining in Maryland. It has a Burr arch through truss design, developed and patented by Theodore Burr in the early 1800s. This design allowed timber bridges to span longer distances than the typical single king post design used since the middle ages. This bridge was built by Thomas Forsyth in 1865 to connect the cotton mills and ironworks of Baltimore County with the mills and blacksmith shops in Harford County. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Canton Viaduct in Baltimore is a sprawling steel structure that feels more like a logistical…read moresolution than a scenic experience. It carries I-895 over a dense tangle of rail lines, industrial yards, and city streets, connecting the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel to the northern reaches of the city. The original viaduct, built in the 1950s, was recently replaced with a modern span that's longer, sturdier, and designed to clear more than 20 active rail tracks. There is no grand view, no architectural flair, just a steady flow over the industrial heart of East Baltimore. It's a steel girder bridge that crosses a complex web of rail lines and industrial infrastructure. An impressive feat of engineering, quietly threading highway traffic through one of the most complex rail corridors in the region. If you're looking for charm, this isn't the place. But if you appreciate infrastructure that works hard behind the scenes, the Canton Viaduct earns respect. It's a bridge that does its job without asking for attention.
