Mason is only about 20 miles from Brady so it's the closest place to catch a current release. They show one movie a week, typically one showing a day on Thurs-Mon. They also do some special shows and music acts when they can. You don't have to bring your own chairs anymore as there are comfortable sliding theater seats, and the AC works great on a warm Texas summer day. I saw that they want to raise money to get nice curtaining for it next, with greater ambitions leading to putting a balcony with more seating in later. Please consider giving them your support!

We took a peek in the dance hall - smaller than Gruene or Mercer but looks like a fun place for a night out with friends! Definitely check out their upcoming shows to see who is playing (so far most of the music lineups are just for the beer garden). The bathrooms are outside and were clean at first but got dirty quickly. They desperately need to refill the soap dispensers! This is definitely a spot for local and bikers - so expect some smoking and engine noise. But overall a great place to relax under the giant oak tree.

From the moment we arrived, the experience fell short. The live music should have added to the atmosphere, but the vocals were frequently off-key with an unpleasant, nasal quality that made the music more distracting than enjoyable. The beverage service was equally underwhelming. Water was served at room temperature without ice, and the beer arrived in a glass with a noticeable metallic, unclean odor that made me question whether the glass had been properly cleaned. We decided to order Cokes instead, only to find that soft drinks were available by the can rather than from a fountain. Unfortunately, the food did nothing to improve the experience. I ordered the Caribbean shrimp tacos, but the shrimp arrived barely warm and did not seem freshly prepared, so I sent the dish back rather than eat it. My wife's pasta was extremely bland and under-seasoned; she had to request salt and pepper just to give it some flavor. My friend ordered a burger, which appeared to be a basic frozen-style patty served on a plain white bun. Nothing about the meal reflected the level of quality we expected. Taken individually, some of these issues might have been easy to overlook. Taken together--the disappointing live entertainment, lackluster beverages, questionable glassware, and low-quality food--they made for an experience that simply wasn't worth the time or money. This was essentially our final dinner in Fredericksburg for the weekend, which made it particularly disappointing given how many enjoyable restaurants and wineries we experienced during our visit. I do want to give credit where it is deserved: despite everything else being well below expectations, the wait staff and manager were genuinely kind, professional, and apologetic about our experience. They listened to our concerns and ultimately comped the food because of the problems we encountered. I sincerely appreciated the way they handled the situation, and my criticism is not directed at the staff--the service and their response were easily the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, good service couldn't make up for the overall quality of the food and drinks. Based on our experience, I would not return and cannot recommend the restaurant.

The bartendar who helped me both times was Zane, and this guy knows what he's doing. He's the guy who will help you with any questions or recommendations.
