One of my cats was acting funny a few months ago - they looked sleepy all the time and were off their food. I was concerned so I took him down to our Vet who immediately diagnosed an abcess on his face. Turns out he had he been fighting with other cats outside and a wound had got infected. The Vet treated the wound and gave him an injection of antibiotics - within about three days he was back to himself and we were all relieved. I can't speak for other vets as I have not dealt directly with them but this place is very reputable and the staff are very friendly. You can tell they are all passionate about animals when you arrive which is always a good sign.

I had previously this morning walked away from another nearby vet clinic…read morehaving made an 8.20am appointment online stating it was for a vaccine booster for my kitten, showing up at 7.50am, waiting for the clinic to open (it did at 8.10am despite in the booking system displaying appointments from 8am) to be informed the vet would be late...a 40 min wait and the nurse who was at the clinic wasn't able to conduct the procedure so I would have to wait. Stuff that. I don't drive (part blind), had caught the bus. On the return bus ride home, drove past this place so got off the bus, walked in without an appointment, explained what happened and these guys looked after me from the get-go. Vaccinated my kitten, asked all the right questions re: eating and toilet habits, gave great care advice and were highly professional. Unbelieveable. Guaranteed return customer here. Won't name-drop the other vet but will leave feedback on this forum for them.

I remember being super appreciative when one of their vets made a home call to put down our beloved 16 yr old black labby, Molly. Or, on a lighter note, when I took our Scottish Terrier cross, Lulu in for a clip and they didn't even bat an eyelid when she pooped on the floor. I was mortified. As well as having wonderful vets, Pet & Vet also have a good range of food including raw options for cats and dogs. There's toys, carry cages, leads etc as well. They even have a cattery for when you go on Holiday. Just make sure your cats vaccinations are up to date at least two weeks before you leave.

When they do need surgical intervention, we never feel as though we've been ripped off and always get the best service. Our Labrador may not concur as since the big snip she's not wanted to step through the surgery door. Oh yes, they do remember! However, she never has a choice and actually, she would probably agree that there are some incredibly good things to sniff in the waiting room including any other animals who might be waiting, or the dog chow and toys for sale. Sometimes, if she's really good, she gets a treat before she sees Steve. Always after the visit and this is what makes it worthwhile, in the eyes of a Labrador, to visit the vet.

From the very beginning they were wonderful and professional, giving us clear information and steps needed to follow. Even when I asked lots of questions via email, back and forth from overseas, Jon, Clare and the team never hesitated. They responded promptly and always with the most pleasant demeanour. As we were overseas we had moved our dog into a kennel and again another move to Airport pets 2 days before her flight. When we had her dropped at Airport Pets they had a lovely area for her to stay in for a few nights, with beautiful murals on the wall. The people who dropped her off for us said Airport Pets staff were lovely and even informed them that they would walk her over the next few days. I also need to mention Juliet Scarisbrick from Air New Zealand who was equally easy to deal with and exceptionally helpful. Even when I missed the 'please respond to confirm' of Juliet's email, Airport Pets quickly called me and asked me if I had responded. When I said 'no', they quickly asked me to do so explaining without a confirmation she wouldn't be able to be loaded onto the plane. I quickly responded to Juliet's email and Juliet kindly responded confirming all was now in order. Airport Pets were prompt at every step, sending us her health checks, MPI and all other necessary information. We received precise emails on flight details and where we would need to go to collect her in Perth and how long between flight landing and collecting we would need. We arrived at the Qantas cargo (who operate for Air NZ as well) and again wonderful staff. They were friendly and processed our dog quickly, told us where to park so she could be offloaded in the crate and walked with us to ensure our dog exited the locked crate with ease. When our dog came out they took such care and she was happily reunited with her 'Dad' and I. She looked so well and not what we expected after a stressful long flight. The crate she was in was fantastic and plenty of space with water and a blanket. It seemed she flew business class :-). I must point out that Airport Pets were substantially cheaper than any other pet transporter we contacted but this did not diminish the quality of care and professionalism that we received from Airport Pets. Not to mention that in this price we also purchased the crate which we use for her at the office and will use should we need to move her again. And if we have to move her again we would not hesitate to use Airport Pets. Airport Pets, Air New Zealand and Qantas cargo we can't thank you all enough for taking such good care of our dog and for the way you made the process so easy. While striking animals with vehicles isn't top on my humour list, there was certainly some black humour in watching the Petworld-clad man run around a park trying to find the poor animal. By the way, the cat was found in the end and Petworld man looked after it and found its home; it all ended up a very sweet story and a good show of how Petworld looks after animals... just what unfortunate circumstances for it to happen in. After seeing this, and seeing the duty of care these animal lovers have for the pets in store, I know heading to Petworld Pakuranga should be your first stop if you're looking for an already loved and cared for pet.

Also being a vet nurse myself, there are certain ways to hold cats depending on what needs to be assessed or medicated etc. As it was to do with the ears, you actually do have to put quite a bit of restraint to get medication in there. With cats, they may be fine with the owner but when it comes to a stranger, it's quite difficult to hold the animal in place AS WELL as medicate accordingly without causing any harm to ourselves or the patient. They are well known as exotic specialists. So best place to take your small animals, birds, reptiles, rodents etc. I go to mt albert pet doctors (which are now based at Lynfield Pet Doctors or the new exotic referral center in St Lukes) and trust them completely with my fur babies.

So, when the time was needed, my poor big boof of a cat needed some treatment for his ears I went on in on a weeknight. The reception staff were friendly and helpful but the Vet himself was not. He didn't introduce himself and was a bit rough handling of my boy, (defensive mother coming out). Since it was our first visit there, impressions were important. I had to push for information from the guy and the medicine I got was treatment that upon reading the label said "to be used as a last resort only", a highly dangerous anti-biotic. I tried to exercise compassion for the Vet doctor, thinking maybe he is just over worked and under paid, or has something going on in his private life, but none the less I am a bit cautious of going back there. Hence the reason I almost gave this rating two stars only. They have recently informed me that they have changed their name, it use to be called Mount Albert Vet Hospital, preferring to be listed as 'Pet Doctor's Mt Albert'.

When I popped in for a visit their waiting room was very comfortable and a welcoming place for customers and their animals.

Hes incredibly kind and loves/treats all the pets as his own. Dr Sharma has gone above and beyond for these furry critters and have saved countless lives by his determined and dedicated efforts. I have seen/witnessed Dr Sharma rescuing/saving a poor dog with broken bones from roadside after dog was hit by car and eventually nursing him back to health.
