I was going to get 2 adjustments, an X-ray, massage, and therapy. First we had our consultation. This went fine however I could already tell his opinion was much different than both doctors I went to and the physical therapist I went to. (I was slammed on my shoulder in grappling). I now have issues with my AC joint due to swelling on the short head of my bicep. This chiro wanted to only look at my neck because he was certain the issue was due to my neck. So, we did some xrays. Not on my shoulder and not on my lower back (the two issues I went in about) only did xrays on my neck. he spent about 10 seconds looking at them and said I needed continual adjustments on my neck to fix my issues. The "therapy" was sitting on an estim unit for 12 minutes... No actual therapy. I have estim at my house I can do that whenever. We then get to the adjustments and he does my entire body which was neat. However, it ended up hurting my shoulder even more by the time I got to my car. He asked if I had sciatica and I said yes. BOOM now my sciatica is flared up still lol! My second appointment is supposed to be included in the groupon deal since we didn't do the massage or the other adjustment. Upon pulling in the parking lot I saw that the practice is in a newer strip mall and looks great walking in. The front is modern looking with a country twist or style to it. It's honesty kind of relaxing which I'm sure is the point right!! There are several small rooms inside to be seen by a chiropractor or massage therapist. Fairly boilerplate but I enjoyed the size of the room as it was small but ample size. This made it easy for me to relax. It was very easy to schedule my initial appointment, I simply called and there was a lot of availability to choose from. I had only been to one chiropractor before so I was curious to see how different it would be. My experience was amazing. The place itself was easy to find and the office was very quiet. I was shocked at how patient the doctor was. He took his time to do an assessment and get to know my needs. He thoroughly explained a lot of complicated things about how our body works in simple terms. After that intake conversation, he took me into another room that has an adjustment bed. I like how you don't have to immediately lay on it, the bed comes up so you can just stand at first (this is hard to explain but it feels cool!). He also has a massage bed in that room that he used in our other appointments before the adjustment. It is super relaxing! I appreciated the attention to detail and not feeling rushed through my appointment. I shared my struggle with plantar fasciitis because of my running and he even adjusted my feet! I didn't even know that was possible. Even after the first appointment, I could feel the difference in my step and pain level. I immediately felt so much better! He also suggested in-soles for my feet. I use them everyday now and they make such a huge difference. The soles he has are different from the ones you can find at stores or online. I live about 45 miles from Tulsa and wasn't looking for someone so far away but after that first visit and the expert treatment done on my neck, I was hooked. I no longer have headache, my range of movement is great and he took time to explain everything in great detail. l felt like he genuinely cared about easing my pain. During one visit he asked how I was doing and I told him that my neck was doing great but I was having trouble lifting a gallon of milk with my left arm. It hurt around my elbow and forearm so much that I had to use both arms to get the milk back in the refrigerator. He immediately started work on my arm, which surprised me because I thought it was an age related thing. After two treatments on my arm I can now lift a gallon of milk using just the one arm with no pain at all. I also want to say what a great office assistant he has in Brennan. They expanded the business to surrounding Tulsa communities, like Jenks and Owasso, to reach their patient base. I've always felt I got the best adjustments from Dr Matt but did get adjusts by the other doctors when he was out or it was more convenient to go to the closer clinic to my home. They appear to have invested heavily to train and support the new chiropractors before they placed them in the expanded facilities. They gained experience and training and used 918Chiropractic as a stepping stone (such is life). I'm sure Dr Matt will have other well trained doctors to fill the shoes of Dr John and Dr Hunter that moved own to blaze their own trail.
