I moved to Glen Cove right before the start of Covid in 2020. That spring, I took my 2 dogs to Green Forest to establish care with a new veterinarian, since I didn't want to go back and forth to Queens for vet visits. The staff was friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable. In April/May of 2020, one of my dogs had a distended belly, so I took her in. After some x-rays and an exam, i was told she ate a few hair ties, which was causing her tummy to bloat and she needed foreign body removal surgery. They booked her for the next day for removal surgery. i dropped her off for surgery that morning a nervous wreck. The office staff, techs, and Dr. Delajani kept me updated throughout the day, 3 years later, we still use Green Forest and adore them, even if Martini has a reputation as the hair tie bandit there, I will continue using Green Forest Vet, especially after they provided great care for my dog in an emergent situation. read more

Completely unprofessional. Don't take your dog or your business here. Let's start with The technician - comes into the room looking as if he had a horrible day comes in with an attitude, speaks to me with an attitude treats my dog with an attitude, ... ok my dog was obviously sniffing around the room and he said get your dog on the other side of the room and I said OK sure he's just gonna sniff for a few seconds to get comfortable and he said he yelled and said "no, now!" with a very stern voice. I'm sorry who did he think he was speaking to a new customer and new dog like that? I came to pay for service not your attitude. Anyway since I already waited an hour I told myself to just wait for the vet so I could see what issue my dog had on his skin. She walks in, doesn't introduce herself no nice to meet you, nothing. So I asked her "are you the vet?" She's like yea I'm like what's your name? Like clearly these people have zero professionalism? Okay then she starts asking me all the questions the tech did so clearly they didn't communicate and I had to repeat myself as now my dog and I are waiting 1.5 hours. I told her my primary concern about his skin and she kept saying she needs to do something else on him like a full exam and I explained that wasn't for today were here for this issue specifically and a full exam next time. Anyway the tech had a huge attitude while all this was going on. Clearly I'm trying to explain to you guys my primary concern aka emergency and that we'll do a regular routine another day bc my dogs already anxietal waiting so long and being forced angrily isn't going to work for him or anyone in my opinion but zero common sense is here sooooo The room had No AC in. 90 degree day so 3 adults and one big dog in a small room with no communication and heat... great convo. I really want to come back here (never) Can you please open the door for air? He hesitated. Honestly unreal. They need help and help YOURSELVES by not going here and don't spend a dime. Beyond rude. Oh and the medication is priced 4x up. So be prepared for that as well. Probably why they fill it themselves and don't give you a script or let you know they're adding a probiotic to it and why so. I like full explanation when it comes to my dog but that's too much for here you need to pull that out. I'm beyond annoyed and giving 1 star for the receptionists that actually have manners and professionalism. Don't. go. here! Oh I forgot to add they wanted my dog to stand on the lever that goes up and down and I told them not today his legs are weak and he isn't ready for it so next time. They saved my dog's life. My four pound Maltese had been injured at a local grooming salon. My dog was supposed to have surgery at green forest after this incident with an orthopedic specialist who independently travels to perform these special surgeries. The day before the scheduled hip surgery, Dr. Howard realized that something was not right with my dog and had an MRI requested of my dog's cervical spine. She and the surgeon, decided to postpone the hip, that the spinal cord was causing paralysis in the front limbs, and neurologists determined that she needed emergency surgery on her cervical spine. Once she is a bit stronger, we have to do her hip. I am confident in that surgery, obviously. Dr. Delijani has a warm, caring staff, that are always empathic with your situation, whatever it is. Not only did she have a genuine love of animals, and our dog, but she took time to discuss things with us in detail, and make some suggestions to help us out. What really got me was the pricing though We had been going to Brookville Animal Hospital, but the costs grew outrageous -- $350 for a simple blood test?! I would say this office is around 50% less expensive for a comparable level of general vet care. read more

I adopted a Stray cat last year and brought her to green forest. They seem like they're all about the animal but truly they are all about the money. I sent my daughter there with a blank check to have my cats nails clipped, her mats removed and get some drops. While in a meeting at work i'm being called by my daughter telling me they don't take checks. First of all what kind of business doesn't take checks! I then told my daughter to tell them I would call them in 15 minutes with a credit card to pay the $115.00 bill that they wouldn't accept a check for. I had no problem with that. My issue was they wouldn't let her leave until they were paid for the $24.00 bottle of drops. I paid them every time I visited in the past in full and in cash. I could understand this if i never paid my bill in the past. I did not know they didn't take checks. What happened to customer courtesy? $24.00 cost them a customer and a bad review This Vet is all about the money - don't let them fool you - take your pet elsewhere!!!!! read more

Dr. Delijani and vet techs were seemed knowledge and nice enough but they did act like they didn't have time for you. I was left to deal with the front desk staff. One person in particular who was always rude. Not only was I being reamed financially, I couldn't get the dr on the phone and the staff couldn't give me the courtesy of some patience and helpful information on the phone. Nice technicians, but some of the doctors are there to push selling more and more unnecessary tests. Two of my cats had hypothyroidism, which is common in cats. Initially the bill was around $600 for each cat, but they wanted ultra sounds and more tests to make sure it wasn't anything else. After foregoing $1200 I decided to look elsewhere and found a vet who ran me less than half that price and prescribed medication to my cats. It's been 2 years and my cats are in great condition without thousands of dollars wasted. Don't go to this vet. Complete squandering of time, breath, and money. read more

Dr. Delijani is always patient, caring and accommodating. I have been taking my pets to Green Forest since they opened for both of my German Shepherds. Whether for an emergency or a scheduled appointment, I am always greeted with open arms. Dr. Delijani did surgery to remove an anal sack tumor. To make my German Shepherd more comfortable, she did acupuncture and gave him medicine that drastically improved his quality of life in his last weeks. I recently took a mini vacation to visit a friend in Long Island and took my little Ben with me. Since I'm a little neurotic about my Maltese I called around a few animal hospitals in town in case I needed one if my Ben became sick. I called and set up an appointment to meet Dr. Sheila Delijani and I interviewed her for a few minutes. She was a pleasure to talk to and met all my expectations. She personally gave me a tour of the amazing hospital. It's very clean and doesn't have the typical animal odor that some animal hospitals can have. The staff is super friendly and courteous. When I first came in the doctor was finishing her last appointment and told me to wait a few minutes. During that time that I waited I heard the receptionist tell a new client that they would wait for them to bring in their sick dog after they were scheduled to close. I love their reception area with the large fish tank. Dr. Delijani answered all of my questions and I felt very comfortable that I would trust her with my Ben's care if I needed her during my vacation. I was ready to pay for an exam fee since I took some of her time, but she told me there was no charge. If this is the way she treats an almost client (since I don't live locally), I can only imagine how she treats her real clients. I would recommend her any day. read more

One of them was the rabies shot, which was recommended to be done at 5 months so I brought him in for the shot only to discover later that Petco across the street charges 20 dollars for the same exact shot while I was charged 90!! My review is a little overdue but very necessary. Nothing in life can be perfect but Green Forest is pretty close. Being in the pet care industry for well over 15 years has let us see more horrible things happen to animals than good. Finding a veterinarian that has a brain outside of what a book taught them is almost impossible. Dr. Delijani is by far the greatest veterinarian we have ever worked with. From the first phone call we knew we finally found what we were looking for. The staff is beyond friendly and EDUCATED. Everyone is capable of answering questions and whatever could not be answered they made sure to find out in a timely manner and get back to us. The first visit was unlike anything we've ever seen. Any vets office usually has 90 people waiting in the lobby, no one ever has any control over their dogs, energy is through the roof and its just a terrible experience. When we walked in, a client was being taken back and they were ready for us to fill out paper work and get the dogs weighed. By the time we were finished with that we went right into the exam room. The techs started immediately and the doctor came in shortly after. INTELLIGENT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. Dr. Delijani doesn't just do what she is required to do. She makes it a point to talk about animal behavior and give examples of her experiences to help give clients as much info as possible so they will be able to make the best decisions. Not once did we feel like we were being rushed out or like she was annoyed by our questions. She is not pushy and chooses to guide decisions instead of telling you what "needs" to be done. At the end of the day your pet is your responsibility and no one should force you into something you are comfortable doing which we've seen at literally every other veterinarians office. One of our dogs was born with heart disease and two of our previous vets mentioned nothing so we figured she grew out of it. Within seconds of being on the table Dr. Delijani caught the problem and gave multiple scenarios of what we can do moving forward. We have never had more respect for a veterinarian. I can not say enough good things about her or this facility. I will recommend her every single chance I get. If you are a smart and responsible pet owner who only wants the best for your animals then make sure you take them here. Should you be someone who can't get your act together, please stay away as to not take appointments away from the people who desire this level of care for their pets. We are visiting from California and haven't lived in Glen Cove for 8 years. Our 11 year old deaf and almost blind chihuahua woke up holding one paw up and not being able to walk. We called our old vet who couldn't see him until 6:45! We called Green Forest and they took us right away. Dr. Howard was kind, gentle and knowledgeable. The vet tech was sweet and caring. I started going to Green Forest after Dr Grove moved back to San Diego. I never thought I'd meet another vet who could compare. Dr Delijani took over and I can't say enough. She had to care for my Sammy who had Addison's disease, degenerative myelopathy and liver cancer. When Sammy passed she came to my house with one of her great tech's and Sammy was humanely put to sleep in the comfort of "her" backyard. Dr Delijani checked in often knowing how much Sammy meant to my wife and I. We ended up getting a rescue pit bull who Dr Delijani diagnosed with hip dysplasia and suggested surgery but didn't make me feel rushed knowing we had a child on the way. She kept us calm. She did her homework and the surgery was done. There are vets who rush procedures so they can get paid, Dr Delijani treats your animal as if it's her own. If she gives an opinion it's what's best for your animal. Highly recommended. read more

I had to leave one star to post my review but they don't even deserve that! RUN, RUN, RUN To another veterinary doctor without delay. Dr.s Delijani, Howard and Hirsch all irresponsible and negligible animal doctors. Within two weeks my KCCS who is 9 was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a softball. I have been gong to them for a year and a half. How could they miss a growth like that in a 19 lb dog for so long?? They also let an anal gland that they knew needed to be expressed go and my poor dog had a rupture the very next day..Bleeding all over the house and running around frantically because of the pain. They contacted me constantly for 2 days to see if I wanted to book the $1000 ultrasound for the tumor. Of course, more money for them. I left immediately to another vet and am so happy with the generous care I am now receiving from Dr. Park at Glen Head Animal Hospital. I hope he will be okay. But definitely needs surgery. No follow up phone call since then. I guess if you are not paying them they don't give a damn. read more

I had had a problem in the past finding a vet. that was open minded and was willing to listen to me about the well being of my two dogs. Dr. Delijani was fabulous!! She listened to all I had to share about my dogs and gave me the option of an eastern or western treatment for my pet today. The facility is spotless and it seemed to be all state of the art equipment. I am so glad to have found a great vet that is local. I was traveling all the way to exit 70 to see a vet. I am 100% confident that if I did not bring my dog here, he would not be alive. Dr. Delijani saved my dogs life. He suffered from the acute pancreatitis and at one point, his whole body was a unnatural tint of yellow. Enzymes leaked from the inflamed pancreas into his liver causing jaundice in his entire body. To see such a active dog dwindle down to a bedridden blob was heartbreaking. I read everything you possibly can online about canine pancreatitis and rest assure, everything that was done was exactly what needed to be done. Its been 10 days since the peak of his condition and my dog is back to normal and active again. If you read this, please make sure your dog does not get near any garbage or spoiled meats, you are putting their life at stake. my nieces dog mr pickles was sneezing alot and we decided to come to forest vet in glen cove on forest ave . a yelp deal of 60 bucks off first exam is a good deal and the vets here are friendly , patient and care about animals . the waiting area is clean and comfy , i have not been to many animal hospitals but this one is really nice with a giant fish tank with plenty of seating space to wait your turn , water cooler and free coffee ain't bad either . the very modern exam rooms for dogs, cats and other creatures . the lady vet doctor is a smart gal, explained everything in plain simple english and put mr pickles and my niece at ease . mr pickles is fine and the rates are reasonable and fair . the front desk lady is a pro and gets high marks as well. i highly recommend green forest vet. hospital for your pets well being. read more

I stopped going to green forest for my own dog shortly after starting there extremely over priced and would just add things all the time to stack up the bill. Then my father while walking his small poodle was attacked by a Great Dane my father's vet was not open so they ran her to green forest. It was an absolute horrific traumatizing experience . The dog was in very bad shape and green forest was not able to do anything but bandage her and give her and Iv so we could drive her to westbury vca hospital . As we are leaving I explain my father has no money and that the owner of the dog that attacked them would be paying for it. She said I'm sorry but you can not leave without paying us. During all of us hysterical crying in such a traumatic awful experience all they were worried about was there money. While going for a walk he had nothing on him besides his phone No wallet just phone and his dog. They also told me that vca hospital would want the exact same thing and wouldn't do anything without getting paid. After not having time to argue with these cold people I decided to pay my father's bills so we could rush and get her to the hospital. As soon as we got there the doctors took her to icu to evaluate her condition . My father told them his financial situation. The lady's response was do not worry right now our priority is taking care of her. And that's exactly what they did . After finding out how bad her injuries truly were thru X-rays and others tests we decided to put her to sleep . The people did not ask us for a penny said they would send us all the bills and were truly so kind and compassionate unlike green forest! I brought my dog in for a problem with very bad breath. He's 13 1/2 years old so I had some concerns that it could be a real problem. After giving him a thorough exam ( I had a coupon) the Dr. said he was in very good health for his age. He would not allow the Dr. to get a really good look in his mouth but she lifted his lips with a tounge depressor and could see he had some tartar buildup on his teeth. She suggested a cleaning may clear up the breath problem. He would have to have blood work done to see if he could withstand the anesthesia (mandatory) I permitted the bloodwork to be done considering his positive results of the physical exam. She gave me an estimate for the cleaning (expensive, but I don't pay her overhead) and I went home to think it over. The next day I got a call from the Dr. saying that she'd like to take a better look in his mouth because she didn't feel his teeth were dirty enough to cause such bad breath. She said she would take another look for no charge. Well, they had to get on their hands and knees and wait for him to pant to see in his mouth and found a large growth on his tounge which was the problem all along. They showed genuine concern and were very honest about what lies ahead. I appreciate their candor and the fact that they had the integrity to not try to take advantage of me. I've heard plenty of horror stories of people who have been taken advantage of by other vets in a similar situation. I would not hesitate to bring anjother pet to Dr. Dejiani. read more
