I cannot thank his team enough for saving Suzy's life. Suzy had a tumor that was growing so fast, it was taking over all the space in her little body. Dr. Infernuso, who was so kind and straightforward, gave me all the info I needed in a very honest way to make hard decisions. Suzy is 10 years old, but otherwise healthy. The surgery was going to be costly and risky but given Suzy's happy demeanor and otherwise health, the Dr. decided to take a chance on Suzy. Dr. Infernuso was more than fair with cost and fees. He is not about breaking banks, he is about saving lives... Dr Infernuso pulled a huge mass out of Suzy. The removal off this mass also included removing a damaged ureter and kidney along with reconstructing her colon. This Dr. is so gifted at what he does. Amazing. I just cannot thank Dr. Infernuso enough. The care Suzy received was absolutely top notch. Suzy was hospitalized for three days being taken care of so skillfully after surgery by the Dr. and Nurse. He is an arrogant vet who twice gave advice that could have killed my dog. After having CCL surgery my dog had numerous suture issues because they didn't dissolve....during one recheck I asked for antibiotics and was told he didn't need any....my own vet put my dog on antibiotics immediately. 7 months later the incision site was red and swollen....he told me again it was a suture and not to do anything...I knew it wasn't a suture 7 months after surgery and went back to my own vet who again prescribed high dose antibiotics...my poor dog eventually needed plate removal surgery from a severe infection which I had done in Riverhead....they were amazing...in addition my dog needed a 30 day regimen of antibiotics after surgery...9 pills a day...and Infernuso told me I I didn't have to worry....run to a different surgeon....i reported him to BBB and the state... read more

I spent the night in a hotel, so my dog could be on time for her surgery with Dr. Infernuso promptly at 8:00 am. My pug has a large fluid-filled mass on her abdomen that continues to grow. Based on what I saw online and from the reviews I thought he would do a brilliant job. I had a surgery scheduled and called his office twice the week before to confirm my appointment, then when I got to the hospital the lady said to me: "What are you doing here Dr. Infernuso does not have any surgeries scheduled today." Whoever does the scheduling at Dr. Infernuso's office Never Called the Hospital or scheduled the surgery at the hospital in Minneola to say we were coming** I took a car from Manhattan to a hospital in Minneola and spent the night at La Quinta so we could be there promptly at 8:00am (which I was).. Then when I called his office the girl told me to 'drop the dog' off he'll be there anytime from 9-11am (3 hour window) ?? that was never the plan. With no consultation? With a doctor I've never met. ? None of it makes any sense to me nor did the way I was treated. The lady at the front desk at that particular hospital was awful, condescending, rude and was completely clueless as to the schedule- when you add it altogether the whole thing made me very uncomfortable and scared. I'm sure Dr. I is brilliant but I am so upset and heartbroken every time I look at my dog- no doctor in the city is really in favor of even doing it at this point, citing her age and breed as being too high risk. Dr. Infernuso is AMAZING. Honestly, if you've experienced his work and his empathy, you know what I mean. In December 2015, Chevy, my 1 1/2 year old pit bull/lab mix was having a hard time walking up the stairs in my house and even jumping onto the couch. I took him to our usual vet who quickly diagnosed him with a floating kneecap and wanted me to book surgery with her surgeon friend who I wouldn't be able to meet for a consult before the surgery...nope, not happening. I asked the rescue org that I got Chevy through and they emphatically recommended Dr. Infernuso, so I arranged a consult. He's a travelling surgeon and works out of various Long Island vet hospital locations- I met him at Garden City Veterinary Hospital in Mineola. The consult fee is $200, but if you then proceed with surgery, that $200 is deducted from the surgery price. Dr. Infernuso was so caring, patient, and kind, as I had a million questions regarding Chevy's diagnoses (yes, plural). Chevy needed an MPL and FHO on his left leg. I HIGHLY recommend getting pet insurance before getting any consults (if you can wait, obviously) because the insurance covered much of the price of the surgery Chevy had. Dr. Infernuso called me to let me know when he was going into surgery, when he was done and the result, and followed up the next day. He also gives you DETAILED medication and recovery instructions to follow. Chevy had both surgeries in one shot, and we're still in the process of recovery before we do surgery on the other leg this summer. We can't wait for Chevy to be a normal pup that can run around again! Dr. Infernuso has my highest recommendation- I would drive from anywhere to have him perform surgery on any of my pets. **There's a comment below about the scheduling and promptness of appointments, and I do understand the frustration, but you also have to remember that Dr. Infernuso does emergency surgeries on the fly, so, sometimes emergencies happen and he needs to be somewhere. His care and concern for the well being of my dog were second to none. My dog had a complicated case, she had been hit by a car years ago, before I rescued her, and already had pins in her hip that dislodged. This is the only place to take your dog. I took my beagle here for ear canal removal surgery. Dr Infernuso took his time explaining the procedure in simple terms where we felt confident leaving her. The staff was incredible, calling us after surgery with updates. After picking her up I received a call an hour later making sure we made it home ok, and the next two days checking on her. My own doctor does not check on me that much. The staff is probably the best I have every come across. Two weeks later I took her back for a follow up. My dog had IVDD and needed to have major back surgery. I traveled to Queens where Dr. Infernuso worked at the time. The location wasn't convenient for me but I heard he was the best and I wasn't going to have anyone other than the best perform back surgery on my baby. And I'm so glad I did because Dr. Infernuso performed this difficult surgery with amazing results. There was a risk of my dog becoming paralyzed from the surgery and I was so so scared. Not only did he not become paralyzed but after a few months of recovery he was running around again like a puppy. Post surgery Dr. Infernuso was with me along every step of the way during his long recovery. He always took my calls (and there were many) and was just so gracious. I work for a rescue and shelter and Dr Infernuso is the first we call for any major surgical cases. He has helped at least 20 of our animals and all have had successful outcomes. The most amazing case was a 3 month old puppy we saved from the NYC kill shelter after he was found tied up with a fractured elbow. The fracture was over a week old when he came to us and the shelter vet suggested amputation as the only option. I met Dr Infernuso in 2013 through a recommendation from a friend. My dog Sammy at the time was dragging her foot a bit. I thought neurological. Dr Infernuso came to my house took a 5 minute look at Sammy's walking and gave me the terrible news that she would be fully paralyzed within a year from degenerative myelopathy. My 5 y/o Female Spayed Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix has a condition called luxating patellas where the kneecap does not stay in place and shifts (usually to the medial aspect, or inside of the leg) rubbing up against the cartilage covering the bones of the femur and tibia / fibula, causing inflammation in the joints if left unchecked. I waited and waited until I noticed Lady La'Lique limping and reluctant to bear weight on the leg. This is when I knew it was time for action and the first person on my list was Dr. Infernuso. He was prompt, very serious about all aspects of the surgery from sterility to pain management. Dr. Infernuso was spot on when it came to the prognosis and recovery time. I followed his instructions to the tee and I am glad to say that Lady La'Lique is bearing weight and running around like nothing happened to her. Unfortunately, I have to get the other leg fixed but the one person that I'm going to turn to is Dr. Infernuso! The worst experience I ever had with a vet. My Persian kitten has brachycephalic syndrome. As a result, her respirations were very harsh, and she always sounded like her nose was stuffed. The vet at East Meadow, part of the South Bellmore Vet Group, suggested a consult with Dr Infernuso. My kitten was to have repair of stenotic nares by Dr Infernuso. After the xrays were sent to Dr Infernuso, Dr Infernuso stated he wanted more xrays of the sinuses. He refused to do the surgery without them done. Then I brought the cat to the North Shore Animal Hospital,also part of the South Bellmore Vet Group. Dr Rosen stated that his own dog needed surgery and he would talk to Dr Infernuso. Dr Rosen said Infernuso doesn't like to come for one surgery. The cat was brought in a few days later for the surgery. A few hours later, I got a call from Dr Infernuso, He said the cat had laryngeal collapse grade 2, suspicion for laryngeal paralysis, and epiglottis adhesions , and other issues. He suggested a more expensive surgery...a tracheal tieback. A risky procedure, where the cat can aspirate. He also suggested I get another opinion from vets he knew in Manhattan. After that he would perform the surgery. Enough....I went to a medical internist in Farmingdale, and the surgery was performed there..The internal medicine vet in Farmingdale said, there wasn't any laryngeal collapse and trachea was not in need of a tie back. There wasn't any laryngeal paralysis. The cat had a small nose and couldn't get enough air in. The small nose was causing the problems, and only a simple procedure was needed. The vet in Farmingdale charged me $400. Meanwhile, Dr Infernuso wanted $1500 just for the surgery. The total bill if I did the surgery with Dr Infernuso at the South Bellmore Group was $2400. At Farmingdale it was $1100. Also, if I agreed to have the tie back procedure, as Dr Infernuso suggested, it would be even more expensive...at least another $1000 in addition to the $2400 bill. The kitten is now fine. The surgery Dr Infernuso suggested and the consult in Manhattan weren't necessary. Fortunately I went to the specialist in Farmingdale. We recently met/worked with Dr. Tomas Infernuso at the Animal Hospital in East Meadow. We were referred to Dr. Tomas by a good friend but were hesitant to take the trip to East Meadow from Northport. Our small Yorkie was bleeding from the rectum and in what seemed to be an extreme amount of pain. We were hesitant to take the trip which turned out to be super easy. We made it there in under 30 minutes because the hospital is literally right off the parkway. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the center. Each and every person we came into contact with (receptionists, medical assistants, etc) were super professional, friendly and definitely put our minds at ease. We were also impressed by how quickly we met/saw Dr. Infernuso. His attention to detail and compassion for our sick Yorkie exceeded our expectations. He was just finishing up with an operation and took the time to come and introduce himself and to start helping our dog who was in severe distress. Dr. Infernuso gave my dog a new life. My dog is an olde English bulldog who was only 2 years old when he started to limp. I took him to a local vet, who diagnosed him with a torn ACL and recommended surgery to implant an artificial ligament. The night before his surgery, I decided to cancel it because I felt the need to get a second opinion. My online search brought me to Dr. Terry Eylers at North Shore Animal Hospital, who recommended Dr. Tomas Infernuso, a board certified orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Infernuso's exam and X-rays showed a torn ACL on one side and partial tear on the other, as well as arthritis in both hips. He recommended TPLO and FHO for the right knee and hip, rest for several months before he performs the same surgery on the other side. He advised against implanting an artificial ligament, which would likely require additional surgeries. Dr. Infernuso's expertise and dedication to his work was apparent from my first meeting with him. I decided to put my dog's life in his hands. My dog had his first surgery in Nov 2014 and his second and final surgery in May 2015. He is now running and walking without limping! The past 24 months have been very tough for my dog and my family. We had been duped by a previous Vet for a surgery with a very poor success rate. The outcome of this surgery was a disaster. When we started looking for another Vet we came across Dr Infernuso's yelp page. I was blown away by his feed back from previous clients. You could feel how grateful they were in their responses about their experience. We knew we had to reach out to him. We emailed him at 10:30pm on a Friday night detailing what we had been through. You know what he did? He called us that night on a Friday after working all week. It is difficult to find your calling in life. I can tell you Dr. Infernuso has found his. My Italian Greyhound, Shadow, broke her left leg which required surgery. I initially took her elsewhere and was literally being charged a leg. Eventually, I had to discharge her because it was too expensive. Dr. Infernuso was referred to me by one of his wonderful colleagues. When I spoke with him over the phone I immediately felt at ease. He confirmed this injury is very typical for IGs and explained the science behind the break. He also laid out the recovery plan for her. Upon visiting the office, I knew I was at the right place. The office support team always reveals many things about its happiness and functionality. It was approximately 6:30pm, I found a happily bustling office; not one where people were clock watching. Everyone I interacted with was beyond professional, extremely helpful and very eager to keep me at ease. I observed their enthusiasm for other clients and patients. They are there because they enjoy what they do. I found the waiting area to be spacious, very clean and comfortable. I enjoyed looking at the hand painted pictures of the dogs in the field. The private rooms were also maintained in the same fashion. They were tastefully decorated with calming color schemes. When Dr. Infernuso came in, I knew he was the surgeon Shadow needed. He explained the procedure and showed me where the plates would go. He also provided realistic insights into the recovery time line. He laid out the restrictions Shadow had to adhere to while her leg healed. Although, he had just returned from doing an emergency tracheotomy on another patient, he stated the surgery would be done that evening. He assured me she would be fine and enlisted one of his nurses to stay the night with her. He called me at 10:00pm and very excitedly revealed the surgery was a success! He advised me to keep my phone on just in case they needed to reach me during the evening. The next day he called me to let me know Shadow did well during the night and was ready to go home. He provided follow-up instructions and assured me she was on the path to recovery. It has been six months since Shadow had her surgery. She has been able to return to being a normal high speed IG! Anyone who knows Shadow can't believe she suffered a double fracture. She runs, jumps and plays as if nothing out of the ordinary occurred. I will always be grateful to Dr. Infernuso for his skill and compassion. I am so glad the universe connected me to his colleague, without him, none of this would have been possible. Dr. Infernuso was there for the sweetest pup I walk. He suddenly couldn't walk and it was late in the day. Dr. Infernuso welcomed him in, was incredibly attentive and even performed emergency surgery that evening. He calmed my friend and reassured her her pup would be ok and walked her through the process. It's wonderful to know there are still some Dr's out there who put the pups first, above all else and take the time to care for their very frightened parents. Had this specialist come in to perform surgery on my pet at my vet office/hospital. Was told not very risky. He never spoke to me before the surgery, only after the surgery while driving in his car. Two days later my pet is in critical condition and dying. Not one phone call from this "specialist" - Three days after surgery my beloved, best friend, love of my life passes away and never a phone call to even offer the slightest condolences. Dr. Infernuso is an amazing surgeon. He has worked on all of my pets. I have 2 Central Asian Shepherd dogs and the cutest cat in the world! He did surgery on my dog Marcus about 5 years ago for bloat and torsion. Then my dog Jasmine tore her ACL which he also reparied flawlessly. Unfortunately she tore the ACL in her other leg 7 weeks later, which is common. He repaired that as well. Then comes the cat with his urinary blockage that was so bad his urethra was damaged and Dr. infernuso had to perform a perineal urethrostomy. All surgeries he performed were perfect, recovery time was quick and my fur babies were all happy and healthy after! I recommend Dr. Infernuso over and over again.
