She has always been very helpful and understanding. The place is always kept clean and secure. I live in Roseburg and when i needed a unit there wasn't one to be had in town. I put myself on waiting lists for quite a few as it seemed silly to keep stuff long term in Sutherlin. By the time I started getting calls from closer units I decided to just stay at American. Yes it's a drive when I need to put something in or take something out, but Lisa has been amazing. And great customer service like that in any industry in this day and age is hard to come by.

The manager was very nice at first until the day we had to evacuate our home due to the fires. We had no where to go, so we hung out at our storage unit. She showed up the next morning and started yelling and accusing us of LIVING in the unit,not even asking about our situation. Other people that had to evacuate also had stayed at the facility. Another time she would not let me out the gate until we did exactly what she wanted. I think that's called kidnapping, holding me against my will! Now we are trying to clean out our unit, my boyfriend worked all night loading our things. This morning I get a text from her accusing the boyfriend of living in the unit and shaving in HER bathroom. You can look at him and know that's not true! And telling me he needs to get off the property and not come back, remember he's on the contract and we have access 24/7. I called her to discuss the issue with her and she hung up on me. How professional! It's a very nice clean facility but the owner needs to put their manager in check. Get the facts before accusing someone. We have taken pictures of the unit before returning our keys, there was a $50 deposit and rent is prorated for the last few days of the month that we had paid. 8 days to be exact. So my kid who attends UO needed a storage unit for the summer months and I advised her to do her…read moreresearch months ago, knowing that students out for the summer are all going to be reserving storage lockers for this time period. After researching and calling around, my kid found Bertelsen Self Storage and discovered they had an available unit for the months she needed, the size of unit needed, and their price per month was less than other storage places around. She paid $40 to reserve the unit - and it's a good thing she did, as we discovered that all units here were rented out by June, when she needed her rental period to begin! When we arrived here in our U-Haul, loaded with furniture and belongings, we were on a tight schedule, and we were dismayed that the place was closed for lunch until 2pm (it was 1:30pm at the time, and their outgoing phone message did not mention their lunch hours - only their general hours of operation). We weren't pleased, but when the young lady arrived at 2pm, she was so pleasant and friendly, that made up for our scheduling issues caused by the lost half hour. I wish I could remember this woman's name, but she was super accommodating in allowing us to pay for the locker rental in the way we wanted, as well as prorate payment until the date in September we wanted. She really worked with us, and we appreciated it a lot. (They can let you pay month by month, or in full, or add on "x" amount of days - whatever works best for you). Of course we forgot to bring a lock, so they sold us a sturdy one for $10 and my kid liked the option of having the office hold on to the extra key, just in case she misplaced or lost her key. She also liked the fact that she could set her own code, needed for the keypad to access and exit the facility. The facility itself was not new or shiny or modern in any way. But it was clean and it was functional. It reminded me of every storage locker I've ever seen in every CSI tv show (minus the creepy findings in those tv lockers. LOL!). Older, dimly lit, metal pull-down doors, etc. But it was exactly what we needed for all the items we had, and everything fit and it was secure and the price was right. Who needs fancy? Perhaps if we had priceless Oriental rugs and Van Gogh paintings, I'd think twice about storing them here. But for a college student's dorm room fridge and bedding and some hand-me-down furniture and dishes, this is a perfect place to store stuff for the summer months.
