In the last year, some of the most involved parents at Eakin pulled up stakes in public education and opted to shell out 10K to escape the increasing physical tensions and gaps as Nashville fails to invest in public education. I digress....so, you'll be paying more for education than you thought you would!! And SBA is a good balance between the crazy expensive USN (20K) and your kid joining either the Bloods or the Crips in 4th grade (I jest....sort of). The school is Catholic, but truly more accepting of other religions than Catholic schools use to be. They have mass on Holy Days and religion class, but often religion class is writing notes to sick school mates or families. The high points of the school are location, curriculum and and administration. The math program is particularly strong and they have opportunities for kids to do advanced work in smaller classes. The school is small and mostly clean. The small footprint makes it hard to have too many large group meetings. Areas that could use attention IMO are gym/health, getting rid of some of the old school teachers and the aftercare program needs an overhaul with some actual activities. Parents are generally pretty involved and the school does a really good job of having a unique identity in spite of the fact that kids come in with Vandy parents from many neighborhoods. They offer buses for a fee and a summer program as well. All in all this is a great school for a fraction of the cost of many other local private schools. The teachers and administration have a real 'can do' attitude and the kids seem to flourish is almost all arenas.

We visited many, many schools before deciding on SBA and we have never regretted our decision to enroll our children. They have many wonderful extra-curricular activities such as art, lego club, boy and girl scouts, cross country, volleyball, swim team and the list goes on. The staff,teachers and curriculum are absolutely stellar. Our children are excited about learning again! Plus, every grade level gets TWO outdoor recesses during the day which my kids love! They have had great transitions to a new school and have made many friends. The parents and staff are welcoming and there is a general sense that they are glad we are there and want our children to excel. If you are in the market for a K-8 school in Nashville, it just doesn't get any better than SBA.

The people are so welcoming and friendly so that you feel right at home when you first visit. All ages, walks of life and all people are welcome. Woodmont's focus is first on the Lord. Through sermons, bible studies, Sunday school small groups, individual prayer and ministry opportunities Woodmont provides ways to deepen your relationship with Christ. They also have a fantastic college group as well as youth group. Ministry is a second focus of Woodmont. Individual groups within the church go around the world to minister in places like Greece, the Dominican Republic, Africa and various countries in South America as well as right here in Nashville, Tennessee. There are literally hundreds of ways to plug in. I love the size of the congregation: not too big, but not too little either. Sunday morning service starts at 10:30 a.m. and if you are unable to leave home you can view the service on T.V. If you are looking for a Church home I'd recommend putting Woodmont on the list.

**April 2025: Easter Sunday Visit**…read more My friend and I were in Nashville for the weekend and wanted to attend Easter service. I found Woodmont Christian Church online and decided to participate in their traditional service (11am) in their main chapel. It was very busy on the day of my visit. I believe 2nd service just finished so there were many people going in and out of the parking lot so I recommend coming at least 20 minutes beforehand to give yourself time for parking. The sanctuary is beautiful with lots of natural light and flowers and lilies at the alter. Guests were all dressed in their Sunday best with pastels and the choir and reverand all wore traditional ceremonial garb. All guests were given a beautiful program with There was special music that played in the beginning and Dr. Clay Stauffer delivered the message. While the service was more formal, Dr. Clay's sermon was funny, approachable and well delivered. There were a few other components to the service including the affirmation of faith and mission, hymn invitation, pastoral prayer and communion. I think the whole service was between an hour and an hour and a half. Overall I was satisfied with this church service and was glad to include it in my Nashville adventures.

I also really appreciate Pastor Mike's exegetical teaching style and how the church applies what they learn by serving locally in Nashville and sending people on mission around the world. I don't have kids, but the children's ministry has exploded in the past two years-- both in size and quality. I came to Ensworth last minute to attend high school my freshman year. They welcomed me in with open arms and did not brag at all about their success but let the school and there students speak for itself. Yes, this school is very exclusive Pre 1st - 12th but it isn't for no reason. I cannot even begin to explain how phenomenal the faculty and staff is at Ensworth. I can go back and visit many of my teachers and converse about my endeavors and the growth of the school. They truly care. Also the college counseling department is very helpful with the students college application process. In addition, academically I was more than prepared for college. Anyone to say any different probably comes from a rival school which is natural. As a student I use to hear it all the time. If you do not want to believe me look at where our graduating students are attending school and their accomplishments just in high school. For example, out of my graduating class of 105, 3 students where accepted to Harvard and that is just the beginning. The facts are indisputable.
