I have been doing business with Green Knight since 2021, when we decided to switch from asphalt shingles to a metal roof. Best decision ever. This year we decided to screen in our existing patio and I wanted my contractor to tie into the existing roof. So Steven Smith who is with Green Knight came to my home and removed the panels so that my contractor could do just that. With his expertise he coordinated the removal and reinstallation of the new roof . After that was done I had some extra panels left over. I was able to have my shed covered as well. Green Knight Roofing (and Michael) did a very nice and professional job for me when they reroofed my entire house. I am preparing for solar panels, and got rid of 6 skylights (the solar panels will cover up the sun from reaching those anyway), which left 6 holes in my roof. As long as I was putting on a whole new roof as part of repairing those 6 holes, Green Knight added 4 inches of insulation (this raising the roof 4 inches). They also installed all new gutters, the end result looks really nice. As part of this, Green Knight did some custom new changed routing of my gutters. One of the old gutters had a really ugly downspout right in the center of my back patio, so Green Knight figured out how to route it away in a different direction to get rid of the down spout blocking the view. Opportunistically, I needed to run ethernet cables from end to end of my house and trenching through drywall would have been absolutely brutal. So I had Green Knight "pause work" after they ripped off the old roof and let me string a bunch of network cables on the underlayment of the roof, then Green Knight put down the extra 4 inches of insulation, then Green Knight put the metal roof on top. It worked beautifully well and was "free" and took about 20 minutes for me to string networking all over my house. I'd use Green Knight again. read more

After a recent hail storm, I needed a new roof and wanted to replace my asphalt shingles with metal. I got several quotes and found Green Knight to be competitive. I also really appreciated their sales guy, Luis, who was informative but not high pressure/ pushy. Based on their quote, good reputation, and the sales experience, I decided to go with them. I also wanted a roofer who specialized in metal roofs. They, along with every other roofer, were backed up and informed me it would be several months before they could do the install. They were super about communicating during the wait and leading up to the install. I would say communication was their greatest strength. The install went well overall, but there were a couple of issues. First, their dumpster contractor accidentally pushed some mulch bags we had stacked in the driveway into the garage door, denting it. When I pointed this out to Green Knight they had the contractor call me and make it right, which I really appreciated. The second thing was that they did not pick up the nails, trash, etc. very well after pulling up the old roof. For months afterward, I was still finding nails. The previous contractor that installed the shingle roof several years ago did a significantly better job cleaning up - I couldn't find any nails after they were done. One thing that I want to call out on the positive side is that the workers were super good to my blind daughter when she left and came home from school each day. They made sure she had a clear path to walk and told her when there were obstacles. This made an impression on her since the whole job took several days, and we didn't ask for special accommodations. One other note is that I had expected to have some energy savings from the switch to a metal roof, but I have not seen this savings in my kWh usage. This was not part of Green Knight's sales pitch, so I don't fault them but wanted to note for others thinking about the switch. It did, however, lower my home owners insurance premiums about $360 per year. Overall, I would recommend Green Knight if you're doing a metal roof. read more

I requested an estimate for a new stone coated steel roof. I expected the estimate to be expensive for a 2700 square foot roof. The representatives gave a comparative estimate for an asphalt shingle roof that was more than twice the estimates that I received from reputable contractors in Austin. The bid for the stone coated steel roof was 20k higher than a standing seam bid from a very reputable contractor. They exaggerated issues with my current roof. It is end of life. They made it sound like some of the 2x10 rafters were structurally unstable. I have vaulted ceilings with no cracks or leaks. The agents put their analysis and initial estimate on a preprinted form but would not allow me to keep the form. Some decking on the roof needs to be replaced. They suggested a zero percent finance for 12 months program. The plan reverts to a 29% interest rate if a payment is late. (Stay away). Update: I am under contract with a well known firm for 24 gauge standing seam. The roof in nearing end of life. HOA approval is expected soon, but they actually missed their deadline. A lot of pricing depends on materials. Telling me it would cost 34K for a 18-22K job was a turn off. Perhaps the most expensive architectural shingles would lead to 34K. I was not sold on the stone coated steal. I thought the HOA would be happier. Other maintenance issues such as future tree trimming or house painting will require people to have access to the roof. That killed my enthusiasm. Some decking may need to be replaced. Cracking issues with roof rafters due to moisture and danger of failure is not likely. I have cathedral ceilings without any signs of trouble. The insulation is not going to absorb the kind of water that would cause rafters to rot. There are 2x10's and 2x8's running through the attic. I am sure decking will get replaced. It is time to retire the roof for age reasons, but not threats of imminent failure. Two other houses on the culdesac have roofs of similar age. We live in a one-story 3,300 sq ft home, which we built 26 years ago. We had an aluminum shingle roof that we loved. Recently, a neighbor's tree fell on our roof during a bad storm. The tree damaged about a 15-foot stretch of the roof. When we called out the insurance company, we discovered that the color/pattern of our shingles was no longer available--anywhere. After some deliberation, the insurance company decided to replace the entire roof. We selected Green Knight and a standing seam metal roof with a similar color/pattern to our original roof--faux oxidized copper (green with random gold mixed in). We first met with Bret Smith, Green Knight's production manager, and then Joel Kenty, chief strategist. Once we agreed on the product, pricing, and schedule, it was "off to the races". Bret told us that once the material was received (in 3-4 weeks), the job would take about 10 days, weather permitting. It actually took a bit longer--7 weeks--in part due to weather delays, shortage of material, and a much more complex roof pattern than anybody suspected. As the job progressed, I was most impressed by the skill and artistry of the crew (we had 6 crew working on the roof that entire time). They were not satisfied with anything less than absolute perfection. Every single day when they stopped work, they would tidy the place up. They picked up every bit of scrap and garbage, they tucked their tools, ladders, and material off to the side, and made sure everything was to our liking. Every day. In addition to the on-site crew, we were in regular contact with Bret and Andres Tirado, the off-site project manager, who frequently called or stopped by to see how things were going. Andres was always available to solve whatever immediate problem might have occurred. Despite the time the project took and the constant banging (our three cats may need professional help to get over the "shell-shock"!), we could not be happier. We just had a new roof put in by Advantage Metal Roofs. We were very impressed with their service, installation, materials, and workmanship. Putting on a good metal roof in the correct way with the right materials isn't cheap. It was a huge investment for us. But in the end, it was the right (and only) decision, and Graeme (the owner) and the rest of the Advantage Metal Roof crew made it work. We bought a house complete with the exact opposite of what Grame and AMR do - a cheap roof put on by inept people with low-end materials. There was caulk and tape everywhere. It leaked all the time. And I'm sure the previous owners who paid for that piece of cr$p didn't pay a lot. But it was a terrible roof. We knew it from the time we bought the house, and we were able to negotiate down the price of the house based on how terrible the roof was, even though it was "new". We knew we'd need to replace it. Finally, we'd had enough of a "new" metal roof leaking all over our house. So we called AMR. We had called several other roofers, but we weren't impressed. Graeme came out and proceeded to lay out exactly what they could do. He showed examples of all the materials and talked in detail about why AMR was suggesting to use the materials. He showed pictures of how they'd install it. And he offered us financing, which in the end is what made the deal possible for us. Lastly, Graeme and the AMR crew went to great lengths to schedule us in at the last minute. They worked with our tight schedule, made it happen, and now we have the right roof on our house. And we sleep much better. If you need a new metal roof for your home, really, these people know what they are doing and do a good job. Communication started out good with once a month updates as to our expected install date as it was months out. We were told by the sales guy that we would receive a call by the owner and that never happened and We really don't care about that but it was a foreshadowing of what to expect. Then the install came and they showed up. Yeah! The problem is we do not speak Spanish and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge or anyone we could communicate with. Some days there were 6 or 7 workers and others there were 3 and they were dropped off without a truck or anything and had to ask to use our restroom which was fine but super unprofessional. When spending over $70K I would like some kind of timeline or daily communication. We were also told that they would pick up nails everyday. . . not until we texted the only number we had to a person we had no idea it was did they do that the next day. The bottom line is they have no onsite supervisor and if you are fine with that . . . We were not. read more

Stop here if you've been looking to buy a reasonably priced, quality metal roof, from a local, family-owned business run by some incredibly decent folks. Having had to spend all of our rainy day fund on, literally, a rainy day (and a leaky roof), I was very reluctant to let go of such a large chunk of cash on any company less than deserving. I contacted two other roofers - one who never called me back and the other never showed up for the appointment. I called Advantage Metal Roofs and received a call back within minutes. Graeme, the owner of the company, showed up for our appointment right on time and spent hours discussing with us our needs, our concerns, and answering endless questions. He wasn't pushy at all and did a great job explaining the cost-benefit analyses for repairing our old roof vs. getting a new one. We ended up going with a new one, and Graeme worked with us on payment options without nickeling-and-diming us. The AMR crew showed up in professional company shirts, accompanied by Graeme and his Dad. They used top of the line equipment. They didn't ask to use our bathrooms and we saw Graeme give his guys a full lunch break. That's just really nice, because I want happy employees up on my roof who are not resentful or bitter and in a rush to do a crappy job. Although the crew broke a gutter of ours, they are giving us a new one without additional charges. What company out to bleed customers dry would have done that? This isn't a monster company out to gobble up consumer dollars without a conscience. Not is it your average salesy, fly-by-night, do-it-yourself roofer looking for quick money without putting in the hard work. This seems to be a loving family who has invested their hearts into a company they love doing work that they love, and this shows in how honestly they treat their customers. And as a customer forking over a lot of hard-earned money, you better bet I like to be treated cordially, like I am getting a good deal, and like I got more than what I paid for. I can highly recommend this company if you want to install a superior quality metal roof on your house. The salesman was actually the president of the company and took several hours to help me understand everything that was involved in the construction, materials, and process of the work to be done. He took the measurements himself and checked the attic as well. I had been planning a Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) system for several months prior. Getting the metal roof in place was Step One. AMR worked with the company I'm using for my storage tanks and irrigation system to plan how the gutters and downspouts would be configured. I was pleased that the work started ahead of schedule. The project manager was outstanding as was his crew. I was treated with the utmost respect at all times and kept current on all phases of the project. Each day the crew appeared on time and the property was cleaned and sharp materials removed before they left. Additionally I had a Direct TV dish that had to be re-mounted with a newly crafted bracket. The project manager took care of getting it constructed, delivered, and mounted it himself. He worked with me to get the signal back as well. Very impressive. This is a family run business and they work hard to make sure of customer satisfaction. I looked on Angie's list for a metal roof company. They promptly called and showed up to measure and quote the roof. They measured the roof and quoted it. We decided that we should get a second quote, with the cost. The competitor came in 2k lower, but with all the reviews and the meeting with Green knight, we decided the additional cost was worth using them. They came back a 2nd time to pick colors and do an "exact" measurement so they could order materials and collect a deposit. We picked a color and told them to put us on the schedule. About 30 minutes later, Mark our salesperson, came back and said he could not honor the price he quoted. He said his first measurements (he measured it the first time too) were incorrect, so my price would jump from 25k to around 40k. Very disappointed. read more

We just had a new roof installed by Advantage Metal Roofing. What a great company. The sales staff was knowledgeable and informative. The installers were very competent and meticulous. Our old roof was also a metal roof but after 18 years and numerous problems we decided to replace it. The new roof is light years ahead of that old junk. The roofers monitored the weather and when it looked like bad weather might be approaching they went out of their way to ccompete the job.
