So far so good! Was recommended to come here, and had seen good reviews for wedding alterations already, so I decided to bring my wedding dress here. Before I went, I also called to ask them how much it would be for a cleaning, and they quoted me for $185. I don't remember how much it costs for the preservation box, but they do offer that, as well. Price was accurate when I came to the shop. I always wonder if I'm getting ripped off when I go to the dry cleaners because the prices aren't always clear, so I was glad it was the same. The shop just says "Cleaners" for their sign on the outside, but inside it does say Tailor John Cleaners. Large parking lot, it's near the CVS that closed, and the Big Lots that also closed. Shop is very clean. The woman helping me was very friendly. I was told the dress would be ready in 1 week. Payment is due when I pick up. I appreciate that because I can ensure that the cleaning is what I can reasonably expect before paying. A little over a week, I hadn't heard about my dress being ready for pickup, so I called and they confirmed it was ready. When I picked up my dress, it was an older gentleman helping me. He was also very friendly. I found the dress was cleaned to my satisfaction. Overall, it was a good experience getting my dress cleaned here and I would definitely recommend! read more

I've been to both locations in Elk Grove. I prefer the location at the corner of Waterman and Elk Grove Blvd as it's more convenient to me. The young lady who runs the counter at that one is SO incredibly polite, cheerful, and professional. I hope the owner appreciates her wonderful customer service skills! The pricing is, I guess, fairly on par with most other cleaners. I've brought in a wide variety of items and have been very happy with the quality of the cleaning and condition of my garments at pick up. They have been ready when promised. I won't return 11-28-2024 I dropped of 6 items (3 ties -3 shirts ) Asked if they could dry clean all 6 and remove stains from tie that were spilt sparking soda (clear in color ) after charging 1st full price before picking up and redoing my ties 3x I recieved All ties back with promise of stains removed and wrapped in plastic bag. My guess was they didn't want me to check , but I did both times and found no stains were removed. Although I dress semi-professional for my current job (dress shirt, tie, and slacks), I secretly envy those folks who work in positions where wearing a suit is appropriate. Outside of interviews and the occasional meeting, I could technically get away with wearing a t-shirt and jeans in the office. Therefore, I was secretly excited when I was invited to partake in a work-related conference that included a business mixer...time to breakout my suit! Unfortunately, I had a dilemma. The suit jacket and pants both had stains, were dry clean only (of course!), and my conference was three days away. After conducting a Yelp search for highly rated Cleaners in Elk Grove, I stumbled upon Tailor John Cleaners. When I walked in the owner was busy talking to another customer who was providing details about his recent vacation (yes I'm nosey). Unfortunately, who I assume to be the owner (an older Asian gentleman behind the counter); looked at me when I walked in but did not acknowledge me. After awkwardly standing during the entirety of their conversation, once their conversation concluded, the gentleman behind the counter nodded his head at me (which I assume was his way of saying "hello"). I explained to the gentleman that I needed both the jacket and pants cleaned by the upcoming Saturday (I was dropping the suit off on a Thursday evening). The gentleman confirmed that he could put a "rush" on the task, I thanked him (I try not to be that customer that thinks the world revolves around their self-imposed rushed deadlines), and he handed me a clothing claim ticket. Saturday afternoon I called the establishment and an employee confirmed that my suit was ready. Being that I love great customer service, I was a bit perturbed about this establishment's lack of customer service. However, I am very grateful that they were able to accommodate a short turnaround time. read more

I recently used Tailor John Cleaners to dry clean a cashmere sweater and two wool, mid-thigh length pea coats. They came back in good shape and were completed on time, although none of them were particularly soiled to begin with. The woman at the counter was friendly. However, when I called to make sure my dry cleaning was done before driving in, the man who answered me to only come after 3:00 p.m. today, which was a tad annoying because I was told it would be ready either yesterday or today. So if you're in a rush (I wasn't - who needs a pea coat in April?), make sure you're clear about timing. In any event, this establishment was much more affordable than others with respect to my items. Each coast was $17.50 and the cashmere sweater was around $8 or $9. I had called other cleaners in the area to get quotes (albeit, sight-unseen) and was quoted between $22 - $25 for each coat. read more

This has been my go to tailor and cleaner for quite a while. The workmanship and attention to detail is rarely found at this high a level. Service is always friendly and welcoming. They recycle my hangers which is a plus. I've even had them do some odd stuff like sewing up a tent that blew a seam.One word of caution is be sure to ask what something s going to cost if you have any reservation. Some garments and decorative items can get pricey. 99% of the time it's still worth the price to me given the quality of the work, Then again there have been a couple times where I opted out of a service. Hands-down professional alterations and cleaning. I took 3 dress shirts to get altered and cleaned. I had the sleeves and sides both taken in on each dress shirt. Although I paid around $80 and waited a week to get them altered and cleaned, I can say without a doubt, I didn't even notice it was altered but it felt great to be in clothes that fit. For my body size, it's hard to find clothes that are long in arm length while keeping the sides and sleeves short. Even though I paid a premium compared to other places, I'm confident that I can take my clothes here for alterations and cleaning...and it's worth every penny. I had these altered as my go to dress shirts for when I begin my professional interviews soon. Tailored clothing makes you feel like you're worth a million bucks. Long overdue update: I had them do the alterations on my wedding dress :) They did a great job, and it was such a fair price - so much less than what the bridal shop had tried to charge me! It was a big ask, but I also needed it done fast and they were able to make it work! I have a very old sweater that belonged to my grandfather and my dad likes to wear right now. The zipper broke and the way it's stitched (plus the "specialness" of the item) I didn't want to take on the repair myself. I brought it into Tailor John and met Tailor John (I don't know if that's his actual name but I think he was the owner). He looked over the sweater carefully and noted it's "well loved" look. I explained the sentimental value and he nodded in agreement. I turned the sweater over to him and picked it up a couple days later as promised. I am SO PLEASED with the work! The zipper has been replaced and the sweater cleaned. He even took care to reinforce a couple of the snags (holes) in the sweater. It looks 20 years younger ! By far the best cleaners I have ever used! As a regular customer here, owners have been as open as possible to making special arrangements for us when needed. For example, my father in law who is a minister arrived at 11:30 pm one night from a missionary trip to Mexico. He needed to have his suits dry cleaned the next morning to speak at a funeral. We called ahead and took them in at 6:40 am and got the call that they were ready at 9 am!! No extra charge. Oh and she got a stain out of my favorite tie purchased from London that no other dry cleaner could!! read more

New to area. Just needed my suit pressed/steamed. I walked in at noon and immediately the Asian lady said "too late sorry can't help" and walked away. Not sure if they were done pressing/steaming for the day but she did not even offer to help or take my suit in for next day. Very bizarre customer service for a "mom n pop" shop which you would expect otherwise. That was my first and probably last time I will visit them. After finding that out, i got all my old suits from Banana Republic and Mens Warehouse and got them all redone here. Wow do they do a good job. Very affordable. I will never take my suits to this cleaner again. The receptionist is not pleasant and never says hello or thank you. She appears to be miserable with working there. The cash register has an automated voice that's says thank you have a nice day so the girl doesn't have to say it I guess. Unfortunately, after being long-time customers, I will not be returning because of what I experienced on my last visit. I went in to get pant legs hemmed. The wife measured how I wanted them and I made sure to wear the exact shoes that I would wear with the outfit. After I picked my item up and brought it home, I tried it on and noticed that the pant legs were still much too long and were dragging on the floor as I tried to walk. It wasn't a problem at all and I wasn't bothered as I knew it wasn't an intentional oversight or mistake on their part and I would just bring them back in and let them know so they could correct their mistake. When I went back in, the wife starred me down after I explained how long the pant legs were and she told me to try it on again. I brought the correct shoes to show her that the hem was pooling at my feet. She looked at me and said,"What happened?". I was really shocked. I was just expecting her to say something like "sorry about that, I don't know what happened, but we'll get it fixed". Instead she asked me what I personally did to the garment to make it incorrect. She was the one who measured me in the first place. Again, I wasn't upset in the beginning but she showed a lot of disrespect and bad customer service. After she asked me what happened, I said something like , "the pants weren't shortened enough??". Just common sense info. But she continued to look at my garment for a long time like she was trying to see if I could have done something to it. She was not courteous or gracious and told me to come back to get the fixed item at a much longer-than-normal time frame. When I finally got to pick the item up, she offered no apology or any communication for that matter. She was not happy to fix their mistake and the whole experience left me very uncomfortable while in her presence. Won't be going back. read more

My costume's zipper broke and ripped really bad a few days before I needed to wear it. I took it to the Cleaners, along with a new zipper I bought at Joanne's. I was told it would cost 15 or 20 for them to take out the old zipper and sew in the new one. It was ready on time and the lady only charged me FIVE DOLLARS! Plus she gave me the zipper I bought back and used one she thought would be better, free of charge. My costume couldn't be more perfect, and I couldn't be any happier. read more
