This one is hard. My daughter had acquired a feral cat from a "friend". The kitten was said to be between 4 & 5 weeks old & was in the yard with a ton of other kittens & was found all by itself. It was a boy. We brought him home, put him on a heating pad and began feeding him formula & little protein packets & he was eating, drinking & generally doing well, but still petty frail. On the 3rd day, we came home to find him by the toilet & barely hanging on to life. This is when I reached out to Green Meadow. Now, I know it's isn't the fault of Green Meadow, but it just goes to show how emotional I was at the situation. I walk into a clean and well organized veterinary hospital. There is a couple behind me with two very well behaved dogs. I come in and stand at the horseshoe desk with the kitten wrapped in towels and my 8 year old granddaughter standing beside me, we are both crying, but not loudly as to cause a scene. On the other side of the desk, a woman is being checked out and she is one that has to comment or ask questions about everything, not paying attention to ANYTHING going on around her. I say this, because as she was making comments about the "psychedelic" bag the receptionist was putting her pet's medication in, there was a couple behind her who had just had their pet put to sleep and I'm directly in front of her with a, practically, dead kitten. Once she leaves, they usher me into a room and take the kitten into the back for oxygen. The vet comes in and tells me that the kitten will be fine, his sugar was low and his temperature were low. He sends me home with $184 vet bill I was happy to pay if it meant the little guy would be okay. In the meantime, I spotted a little black and white kitten in a cage in the back. I mentioned that I would gladly take that kitten home as well, thinking that it belonged to another client. The vet said, "That can be arranged!" before I could, "Wait, What" myself out of my big blunder, I was holding the sick kitten in one hand and the new kitten in the other and being ushered out the door, adoption fees waived and no questions asked. Within 4 hours, the little sick kitten passed and I was a little upset at how this vet could charge me $184, money I told them was hard to come by, but I was glad to pay if it meant saving his life when the little fella passes less than 4 hours later. Why not be honest and tell me, I can put him down now or I can save him, with no guarantees on how long he will live? Why hand him to me and say that he is okay, when he wasn't? I didn't even use the medication they charged me $51 for. My daughter took back the medication and explained what happened and they refunded the medication, but nothing else. Now our focus was on the new kitten, a 12 week old female. My daughter named her Zumi. After a few days, we noticed that Zumi had a bald patch on her foot and bumps all over her neck. I told my daughter to return to Green Meadow and tell them that she was like that when we brought her home. They took a look at Zumi and found out that she had ringworm. Now, for the 3 days that we had her she had been interacting with my 3 cats. They gave my daughter medication for Zumi, but wanted me to pay $33 for shampoo for my cats due to the highly contagious nature of her ailment. I asked if they would be willing to pay for my funeral as well (just trying to be funny-bathing cats is not a lighthearted event). After a week, my daughter took Zumi in for a checkup and they tried to charge her for the visit. She refused and walked out. Do I think everything should have been free? Absolutely not, but I think an apology, honesty or something could have been done to make all this a little more pleasant. With the first kitten, how about a full refund, minus the adoption cost and shot cost for the new kitten. For honesty sake on both our parts. Humanely euthanize him or give us an option, neither was done. I did not ask for the adoption fee to be waived they suggested it. I would gladly have paid it. With Zumi's ringworm, yes, they should cover all costs. It was my choice to let the cats interact, but I had no idea about the ringworm. How about you offer to let me bring the cats in (my 3) and YOU bathe them and we split that cost as a 50/50 fault, even though I believe they should have known about the ringworm and cautioned us. I cannot recommend this vet based on these interactions. It is my usual protocol to give an establishment 3 visits prior to rating, however in this case I cannot and will not risk the faulty care and lack of trust when it comes to my pets. I also normally break down my star ratings by category and come up with a score based on this method, however not being able to trust a doctor, whether for humans or animals, is an automatic 1 star in my opinion. read more

My brother's girlfriend took her cat in to this hospital on 10/8/2022 for possible worms. They didn't even test him for worms, get a sample of anything, or even check his temperature. They gave him medication for something they didn't even test for. During this visit, she also expressed a concern for her cat being aggressive to the other cats in the house. The vet's solution to this was to tell her that he can just be an outside cat. He has never been an outdoor cat his entire life. They then told her that if making him an outside cat doesn't work, then she can just give him away to solve the problem. I don't know who in their right mind would tell any pet parent that. This is a loveless place for animals because a similar, non-empathetic experience happened with my brother at this same hospital when he expressed concern to test his cat for leukemia. The vet tech did not care nor was assuring in the fact that my brother wanted a test to make sure his cat was okay. All the vet said was that, "If she has it, she has it. There's nothing you can do about it." The honest care they have for animals seems absent in this place. Both my brother and his girlfriend have expressed in two different instances that this place seems to mainly care about business. read more

Just called asking about setting up an appointment for my male kitten... The receptionist, Dawn, was literally so rude that I came to Google to leave this review. Its not as if I called using any kind of aggressive or hostile tone.. I'm trying to get my boy fixed.. and she was so ill mannered that I simply cannot let it go. If I worked with customers directly, and I spoke to a customer like that, I would expect to get fired soon after. She talked to me like I had poured sugar in her gas tank. Absolutely nothing professional whatsoever about her side of the conversation. She showed no empathy, didn't seem to care about anything, and honestly as if she didn't even want to be there today. If you don't like your job, especially when it comes to a profession involving the care of pets we love, maybe you should consider finding a new job, because your terrible personality is only going to drive customers away from seeing a vet who everyone has nothing but compliments about, and I think that's extremely unfortunate because I can only imagine how many clients Dr. Blanton loses any time you're working the phones, Dawn. In the interest of full disclosure on my review, she told me we had to wait another month before getting him fixed. I understand this, and I would have been perfectly fine with that answer, but I think everyone can agree that the smallest amount of customer service and communication skills make all the difference in the world in a situation like this, and you, have neither of these things, hence the purpose of this review. My apologies to Dr. Blanton for leaving a bad review that is in no way, shape, or form his fault. But I refuse to leave my boy in the hands of even an assistant with your attitude. Clean it up, sort yourself out, or find a job that doesn't require answering phones. Towards the end of the conversation I had paused briefly to think about what I'd like to do regarding finding a new vet or giving them a chance, at which point she went so far as to ask, "What else do you want me to say?!" in a VERY aggressive tone, at which point I had my decision and had immediately decided to post this review about her. First of all, I like Dr Blanton . I will continue to use him as our vet. The boarding experience was horrible . New to San Angelo , & I expressed that . I was not given a tour of the facility . It was a cacophony of barking & whining . I paid $30 a night for him to be kept in a "separate " room . Not! When I arrived to pick him up , I watched as she went towards the see thru cubicle to get him. When he saw her , he laid his ears flat , and backed up in fear. She kept trying to call him out, he kept backing up. I went and got him myself. I know my dog and judge how he was treated by his reaction, I have NEVER seen this reaction from him, & he was boarded several times at our vet n the town we moved from . Once we got home, he drank like he hadn't in a while, and won't let us out of his sight. We won't use this boarding facility again. read more

We recently boarded our cat with this establishment. We didn't hear about them through yelp. One of our family members has used them for many years. We were never offered a tour of the facility before boarding. Since the front area looked so clean we didn't think anything of it. The price was good for what we thought we were getting. When we arrived to collect our cat, the desk person kept referring to our female cat as a him. While waiting another cat walked up to the front and no one seemed to notice until we pointed it out. Then we were told NOT to touch 'that one'. Once we got our cat home, she smelled like she had been lying in her own waste. We put food and.water down..she headed straight to the water which she never does. Then she proceeded to hide in her pet taxi for many hours. Our cat is a very loving and affection seeking animal. We took in our 10 year old lab-mix for euthanasia and had our worst experience at a veterinary clinic by far. After sedating her he described the procedure as "perfunctory" and told us we didn't need to stay. We opted to stay with her for her final moments. After administering the injection, he repeatedly poked her in the eye until he was satisfied that she had passed, at which point he again told us it was all "perfunctory" and there was no reason to stay. The decision to euthanize her was extremely painful by itself and his words, attitude, and actions made it so much worse. Saying goodbye to dog you raised from a puppy and whose life was cut short by a medical condition shouldn't be treated as a routine inconvenience. We strongly recommend not going here and to instead find a veterinary clinic who actually cares about the pets they are seeing and who do not just see them as a paycheck. read more

Dr. Blanton and Dr. McCabe are both wonderful veterinarians and the staff is top notch. They have helped our elderly dog with everything from a damaged eye to a stroke. Our dog recently passed away and they just sent us a flower in memory of him, which to me meant the world. He was a huge part of our family. read more

If you are looking at reviews for the best veterinary hospital in San Angelo, this is it. I am shocked to read some of the poor reviews about this establishment. However, I am then not surprised as their have been a couple of times that I have witnessed numerous unruly and rude customers expect special consideration and exceptions for themselves. These people are greedy and shamelessly go out of their way to write a poor review from a place that would not give them everything they want at a lower price or even free. I have been going to Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital for 7 years now. I have been to plenty other veterinarians before this one and have not been pleased until I met the doctors and staff at GMVH. More than once have my animals' lives been saved and each time I walk out of there I find myself smiling thanks to caring and concern of the doctors and their accompanying staff. Dr. Blanton, the owner, is the best veterinarian in town. His attention to detail and overall concern for the animals is amazing. He treats each one like it was his own and is always cautious of risks. He is fun to talk to, whether it is about my animal, or even other stuff! He is so sociable and cheery! Dr. Kleman the other associate veterinarian at that location has seen my animals numerous times, as well. She seems so happy to walk into the room! She is always happy to listen to any of my concerns and addresses each one. If any of the doctors forget when they leave the room and come back in, REMIND THEM! They have a lot on their mind as they try to mentally diagnose other problems your pet may have that's not on the chart if you ask while you're there. One review mentioned her saying "ew" to a rat, I have heard her say that before when my pup had an ear infection. She was obviously kidding, I mean it's not like she sees plenty of nasty things and blood in surgery and emergencies, I'm sure she could handle looking at a rat. So let's stop being so serious. Dr. Schulze is one of the newer doctors and has seen my dogs plenty of times already. I love how informative he is! I will admit he can stumble around on words occasionally but that is expected from someone fresh out of Vet school! He will always be willing to explain any problems and how they go that way as well as any jargon (medical terms) that may be used to describe the animals ailment or condition. He is extremely thorough and considers every possibility when tackling a diagnosis. Very friendly and attentive. I have not seen Dr. Cooper since she moved to the second clinic on Main however when I have seen her she has been very friendly and happy. The only thing that can make me think of who would write a poor review directed at her is that she doesn't tolerate stupid questions. Granted no question is stupid when it comes towards your animals health, but when it comes towards questions that question her ability as a doctor, of course she might get upset, just as any other doctor anywhere would! The staff is a wonderful bunch of people. The secretaries are cheerful and greet me. Over the phone they are very helpful. It is expected for a slip up every now and then, we are all human. They work all day with people and there are plenty of impatient people that come in and take their misplaced anger out on them! (As I stated my experiences above). As long as patience and kindness is presented to them, they will return the patience and kindness to you. A couple that always seem to brighten my day and help are named Sonia and Shelby, I believe. The technicians at GMVH always seem happy to be there. They love on my dog when they get the chance and love seeing animals. They work very well with the doctors and do much of grunt and dirty work as one would expect. They are very friendly in rooms and when the doctor is not in they are social. They make sure I have what I need, and are sure to answer any questions I have. If they do not know, they will not hesitate to ask the doctor/bring them back in, rather than guessing at an answer that could be wrong. They paid extra attention to my cat when she had to stay a few nights with an IV and loved on her exceedingly. The atmosphere at Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital is far better than any others. I have not once heard arguing or any bad things whilst waiting. In fact, the technicians joke around a lot and even make me laugh! Even in the rooms the doctors and technicians seem so close that they have even kidded around with each other! It's such a happy atmosphere and everyone seems intent on seeing that my concerns are out to rest and that my pets' healths are put back in good condition and kept that way! read more

Today I was able to call at 11 am and secure a 3pm appt; pretty great! The vet is really easy to talk to and is very gentle with my pets. Prices are super affordable. I just moved to San Angelo and someone recommended Dr. Blanton. My dog has been having issues, so I took him to Green Meadow. Dr. Blanton was awesome! He was easy to talk to and gave us plenty of advice on vaccines, heart worm/flea medication, teeth cleanings. He didn't try to push anything on us, just gave us the all the information we needed to make our own decisions. In fact, he recommended we didn't do a teeth cleaning, which my previous corporate vet highly recommended. I can tell they care for the animals and aren't out to just make money. Green Meadow Vet clinic has been our vet for almost 9 years. We love the environment of the clinic. it's bright and cheerful, clean and organized. The staff is super friendly and caring. It's a wonderful vet clinic and the vets here truly enjoy their patients. Annual shots are very quickly handled, i'm usually in and out in about 20 mins. I've had cause for one emergency call and Dr. Blanton was there quickly and took care of one of our sweet dogs in a very caring and professional way. I am sorry to hear about your experience. But I want to share a totally different historical experience. And in light of my not having the context myself wherein this interaction occurred, I hope prospective users will not assume that this encounter is characteristic of Dawn, the other staff, or the clinic providers - Drs. Blanton and McCabe. This response comes with a 5-star recommendation. And from MY personal experience with Dawn - from our initial encounter, to our most recent, she has been nothing but professional and caring. Finch T., give the clinic a chance!!! My review is about the boarding facility. This was our first and last time going to the new separate boarding facility. My elderly dog had a raw, bloody nose when we picked her up (they said she was rubbing it on the fence to get out). At first, I figured that wasn't the kennel's fault, and then I realized that she was probably trying to get out because they weren't letting her go to the bathroom enough, because she was coated in urine and reeked. Then, I noticed her elbows were rubbed raw from laying on the concrete too much. Then we got home and she drank from her water bowl forever. There was never a problem before the boarding facility became its own building. We won't be going back. read more

I really like the owner, Dr.Blanton, and Dr.Tipton.......but did not care for the majority of their front desk staff. They made me feel like I was bothering them whenever I dropped off a pet that needed help. I even offered to pay for a ladies cat to be fixed and would come by after work to pay them and I was told I couldn't do that! When I would pick up my pet and ask a question at the front desk I would get the response,"I don't know, I just got here." I decided to use another vet center...sorry Dr. Blanton. This is THE WORST vet clinic I've ever been to. I moved to San Angelo from Houston around August with my dog. He had been a happy, healthy dog up until I got him fixed at Green Meadow. When I got the call they said he was actually up and excited rather than drowsy like most (if not all?) animals after they are fixed. They didn't seem alarmed, so I figured it was a weird reaction to the anesthesia. From the moment we got in the car, I could tell something was wrong. It was like my husband and I didn't exist, and as though he was chasing an invisible fly. We were already on the way home so I immediately called them back and explained what was happening. They reassured me it would stop in 24 hours. I waited a little longer, thinking it was once again just an anesthesia reaction. I called again and, in a very annoyed tone, told me to bring him back in to be checked out. All my proof of symptoms were right there. He was panicked, jumping around, and snapping at invisible flies. The vet actually had the nerve to tell me he was just stressed because of last nights thunderstorm. My dog has never been afraid of thunderstorms and I think that is the most unprofessional response ever. They gave him (and charged me) a pointless steroid shot in his paw. (He had been licking it raw during the episodes). My dog hadn't slept in possibly 48 hours, so they gave him sedatives to calm him down. Come to find out they gave my 60 lb dog sedatives for a 30 lb dog. They also never could figure out what cocktail of sedatives they used to put him under for the surgery. Way. To. Go. Anyways, After no concern or help from these people and 2 months of traveling between here, San Antonio, and Houston, (All of which were more helpful and concerned for my dogs safety) my dog was diagnosed with psychomotor seizures, that were exaggerated by the sedatives. Wish someone would've told me sooner. They never had my dogs best interest in mind. Just what they could screw out of my pocket. Go read the BBB website, plenty of reviews throwing these people under the bus. read more

I've been taking my pets to Dr. Blanton for years. I moved to Florida, and found another veterinary clinic for my animals. During a routine checkup, my dog Katie has been found to have cardiomyopathy. She evidently has had this problem for a while. The sound of a heart murmur has been evident for a long time. It seems to me that it could have been found when Dr. Blanton saw her last year for her checkup and vaccinations. Her heart is now huge, and her quality of life is poor for the remaining short time she has left. If this had been caught last year, she could have been on medications that would have gone a long way to extending her life and giving her a better quality of life. I'm so disappointed that Dr. Blanton didn't have the time during his examination to listen to her heart. I won't be sending any more patients his way. I'm going to leave a very poor review on every website and explain why. A veterinarian that doesn't bother to listen to a pet's heart sounds during an examination is a veterinarian that is not competent. read more

You and your Pets deserve so much better!!! They will charge you fees for services declined and lie about them. I expressly stated I did not need an examination and was just there for the vaccinations. I was charged $12.00 for an annual examination that I had declined. I asked the the front desk at checkout what I was being billed for and she stated the vaccinations and heartgard medication. After getting home I discovered the additional charge. I cannot recommend another Veterinarian in this area but I will be looking for one! read more

i was transferred to good fellow afb. 2 years ago with my great friend pilot my labs name. i was happy with my choice with dr. blanton he has been wonderful. but things have changed and my choice has also. when a lady walked in with her small dog poodle who looked terrible and i asked her if she was ok? she had explained that her dog had been either bit or had some type of severe reaction to something. in 1 minute i could tell the dog was not in good shape eyes shut shaking, sweating,weezing face was swollen all the signs of a very serious something? she said she hoped dr. blanton was in that she had driven 50 miles and panic was setting in. the staff asked her if she had an appointment and she said no, she didnt have time her dog was obviously in not in good shape and herself crying. the staff asked her does she have the dogs rabies shot records and she said yes but not with her. she didnt have time to pick them up but will be in the system. they asked her if she can prove the records she said please look them up and now i even was upset and said let her go in front of me. my lab was there for a routine checkup. what happened next was uncalled for as i will put it clearly the lady said please just get her in i dont care how much it cost. 10 minutes went buy and the staff kept asking her questions like we where in a damn courtroom and clearly this was the interrogation of a poodle in need and a lady who seemed to know a few things about dates times and shots. the staff left and another 10 minutes gone by i even asked if the dr was in? they said yes and she the dr. came slamming things down and told the lady to leave ????...i said let her go they said she didn't have her rabies shots on hand and they cant find them in the system. the dr. then said she is having a severe reaction or allergy and to please come back when dr. blanton was available next week?? this is at 5 pm they turned this lady down told her to leave. i asked why i was curious..they said the dr. will not see any dog without having a rabies vac record..but you just told the lady you know she had one but you the dr office just couldn't pull it up. ??? so you kicked her out because she was crying and the dog was dying ?? well we do it our way or they can keep going? but you called her by her name when she walked in the door then you asked her to leave because her dog was not well. the lady was crying but calm and you people and the dr. i do not know her named laughed yes laughed and said great we got rid of her and her *%^$((& dog ??? i got up and said that i have seen things but yelling a at person clearly upset and you refused her just because why?? i guess ill find myself another vet as well.....!!!!!!! i pray the ladies dog made it.. and green meadows i hope you lose your damn license and you need to fire the entire staff including that b**** dr.. never seen anything like it...btw you have fleas and ticks and urine on your floor that looks like it had been there a year...nasty ass people and place .....never again .....i highly recommend take your business somewhere else...this place is trash and i wish i had recorded that...sad btw my name has dr. in front of it..not a vet but i am a dr. read more

I am unbelievably upset with this clinic. My dog was taken in on a Saturday morning. They did blood work and everything came back bad. They put her on an IV and fluids because that's all they could do. They were supposed to call Saturday evening to give an update...nothing. We got a call Sunday morning saying she had passed away...there was really nothing they could do for her. She had pancreatitis. The part that was awful is how they handled things afterwards. My dad went on Monday to pick our dog up. They handed her to him in a garbage bag frozen....no sorry for your loss or anything. My dad brought her to the house to bury her. When he got her out of the bag they didn't even bother to take the IV out. It was like they just threw her in the freezer when they saw she was dead.They also never gave us an idomized bill for the $404 of who knows what. The lack of professionalism and care we had is unbelievable. Pets are part of people's families and the last thing you want is to have to deal with is someone being insensitive to you and your pet when they pass away. read more

I will never go back to this veterinary clinic! I brought my 7 month old puppy in because I was concerned about some bloody stool and some very mild lethargic behavior. When I say mild I mean MILD. So parvo was never a concern for me because he has had all of his shots, and had been tested before for a previous visit. But they charged me an arm and a leg for nonsense medications and dog food!? My dog didn't need these extra things and on top of all of the charges, the Vet who saw my baby (Dr. Victor Schulze ) was rude, snooty, and basically called me a bad dog mom for not bringing him in sooner. (I took him in the second I found the bloody stool) He told me because I waited so long that the parvo tests will possibly be a false negative and that we won't know what's wrong with him for a week. So this man just gave me a bag full of nonsense meds and basically told me to "hope for the best". He also told me we needed to do a whole new round of Parvo shots! I asked around and found out that it's completely unnecessary. He had no concern for my pet's health, and didn't even do the examination himself. He did not touch my pet once, his staff on the other hand were compassionate and helpful and reassured me not to worry because he had all of his shots. But this man crossed his arms and acted like I was unfit to own a pet. I refuse to go back to this hospital because I do not want him to end up being the only vet I see. Dr. Blanton is the best vet you can get in west Texas. No questions asked. I learned about Dr. Blanton from my mom who adores him. She takes all of the family dogs there. I started taking my heeler/terrier mix in for his yearly shots after having horrible experiences with the vets in/around Snyder. When my husband and I bought our yorkie, there were no questions where we would take him. We live in Snyder, but we are more than willing to make the hour and a half drive just so they can see Dr. Blanton. We learned our yorkie was born with an awful disease when he was 8 months old that doesn't allow the leg/hip joints to properly grow and fuse together for optimal joint movement and Dr. Blanton has helped us every step of the way. Edmund takes pain medicine and vitamins every day and when we run out and can't make it to Angelo, Dr. Blanton calls our local vet to have it ready for pick up. Whenever we have questions and want to speak with him, he gets on the phone and talks to my husband like they've been friends for years. That is so comforting. Our pets are our family. If I'm going to spend money on my dogs health, I'm taking them to Dr. Blanton. read more
