Dr. Probandt saved my dog's life. My 14 year old dog was not an established patient of hers, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I brought him in. He was very sick. From the moment I walked in with him, I felt her full attention and care for him. She ended up having to perform surgery to remove his kidney, which was something she had never done before. She told me on the phone, "we are going to do whatever we can to save this dog's life". The surgery was successful and I have never been so thankful. They were so understanding and sweet to me, and let me visit him a multiple times a day. Los Caballos had my dog for 3 nights, and everyone I came into contact with over there was just amazing. Dr. Probandt is extremely competent, caring, honest, and just a overall badass. Everything I could ever want in a vet. They definitely won me over, and I will forever trust my dogs in their care. read more

My parents have brought furry friends to Dr. Womack and team for years. I've since moved from San Angelo, but when my cat had some teeth issues on top of having issues finding a vet I trusted in my current area, we brought her in and they took excellent care of her - and are just as great to worried pet parents :) I'd recommended them again and again to anyone local! read more

The appointments were awesome. The Vets treated Sam great. They distracted her while giving her shots needed and she was great with them, too. The recordkeeping lacks experienced data entry clerks. Several times we asked about getting Sam spayed and the Vet would tell us either she's too young or too small. Now, we asked to get that in writing and there are no notes about it in the system and we are out more money. It's not our money. It's a kid's money that we would like to save, but nope they will not put anything in writing that was not noted. That, right there, is not professional. read more

I absolutely love this clinic, the care and compassion they all have for the animals that come into their office is top notch. We have 3 horses, goats, cats & dogs. They Have been our vet from the first time we we needed one when we moved to San Angelo in 2011. Dr Probandt is the sweetest vet and has been through the tough times in pet ownership with me and has always been very supportive. My husband and I take all of our pets (three cats and two dogs) to Los Caballos. It doesn't matter which Dr. sees you, everyone is always very kind and takes the time to explain everything to you. They aren't fancy and don't try to 'upsell' you. And their fees cannot be beat. They usually can schedule you the same week if not the same day, and for nail clippings (which are free) you don't even need an appointment..they just squeeze you in. The waiting room can get a little hectic and crowded, but the staff handles everything withouth breaking a sweat. I won't take my animals any place else as long as I live in San Angelo. read more

My dog got sick (again) while I was out of town over a weekend, and I took her to this vet clinic on the recommendation of a local. Even though it was a Saturday and they were very busy, I felt that the veterinarian took the time to explain what he had found, what he was proposing to do, and how he thought I should follow up after getting my dog back to Austin. I didn't feel rushed, or like I was being upsold on anything not necessary. I was very happy with this clinic and would recommend it to others! read more

I took my dog Buster in to be hospitalized after he'd been diagnosed with parvo. He was just under 4, so it was very unusual for him to have caught it in the first place.. Anyway, they told me to call when I got there so that they could send someone out to get him. The girl who came out had a sheet that she used to wrap him in, but when she started walking off with him, his back legs fell loose, and she just let him dangle around like a rag doll the rest of the way in, because she didn't want to get any of his fluids on her.. I understand, but still it made me worry about him, because he'd never been away from home without us before, and I knew being in a strange place and that ill must have been very distressful for him.. They asked me to check in at the front, which I did. After I was finished I wanted to say goodbye to him before I left because I wanted to comfort him a little and I wasn't sure if I was ever going to see him alive again.. They would not let me see him at all. They said it was because he was in quarantine, and didn't want anything he had to spread, but he was already all over me. I had carried him to my car to even get him there in the first place. He bled and drooled on me.. I don't see the logic behind them sending me to the waiting room, where there were other animals (including an elderly dog and puppy) when I had my dogs parvo fluids all over me, but then deny me the chance to say goodbye to him before I left.. It made no sense and was very cruel.. He died later that evening, and the last time I saw him, he was in pain and being carelessly slung around because the girl was grossed out by his blood, and not properly equipped to handle him appropriately. I didn't even get to love on him and say goodbye.. I am upset by the lack of common sense and compassion that the situation was handled with.. I am going to pick my poor boy up in the morning, (because they had just closed when I recieved the call that he'd died) and lay his body to rest properly.. even though he died scared and alone in a strange place..My summary of this experience is that I will not be taking anymore of my pets to this clinic in the future.. I hope this review will lead to a more logical and compassionate handling of situations like mine from here on out.. read more

I never would take my pets anywhere but Los Caballos Veterinary Clinic. All of the Veterinarians as well as the whole support staff are very friendly and genuinely care about your pets. Dr. Morris is exceptional and I drive from Corpus Christi just to bring my pets to see her. This is how wonderful and caring they are here. read more

Dr. Womack is fabulous and the receptionist is friendly. When my dog was sick a while back, Dr. Womack took the time to show me his x-rays and talk me through what was going on, and is always very gentle with my pets. read more

In the past, I would have given at least 4 stars. But, after the conversation I had today with Dr. Vretis, they are lucky to get 3 stars from me. I took my kitten in almost 2 weeks ago. He had runny eyes, congestion, and coughing. They sent him home with eye ointment, a syringe of medicine that I was suppose to give him in 10 days, and Metronidazole. The day I took him in I got a phone call telling me they were giving him something for his congestion and eye ointment. They said he did not have parasites or diarrhea but had a little blood in his stool. The next day I gave him his Metronidazole. I am suppose to give it to him once a day for 10 days. But, the second day I couldn't get any medicine out. I opened the bottle and it was empty. I took it in and the receptionist act like I was lying or didn't give it to him right. I worked in a shelter taking care of cats for 3 years. Plus, I take care of my mom. I know how to give medication. Well, he was not getting any better. He seemed to be getting worse. Today, I could not find him in my home. I found him in a bedroom gasping for air. My sister looked up Metronidazole. It is for diarrhea. All this time, I thought I was giving him something for his congestion. That's what I was told they were sending home with him. I called the vet and talked to Dr. Vretis. She kept telling me that he came in with diarrhea and that her notes had nothing about coughing or sneezing. I said that is what we took him in for. She asked if his diarrhea was better. I said that he did not have diarrhea. She said so, the medicine worked. I said that he never had diarrhea. She started explaining to me why they gave him eye ointment because he had runny eyes and eye boogers (her words). I said that I know that he needed the eye ointment. But, all this time I thought I was giving him medicine for congestion. And today he is gasping. She said oh but he just started gasping for air. I said no, he has been congested and coughing for over 2 weeks. She said well, I guess you could bring him in and we could try some antibiotics. I live 45 minutes away and paid $130 already. She doesn't listen and I am suppose to come back to her and try something else. I give him something that will help him but, I don't feel like she knows what she is doing. I told her that I don't think he will make it there. That is how bad he looks. She just said Well, I'm sorry! I told her well, you just lost a customer. I should have said that she lost alot of patients. I have a lot of cats and dogs. But, they will not be going back to her. If you go to Los Caballos Veterinary Clinic make sure you ask for Dr. Womack. He took care of a few of my cats before and they are healthy now. I would never recommend Dr. Vretis to anyone! read more
