There is a nice mix of long and short holes. A decent amount of water as well as beach to keep you on your toes, as well as some wooded areas close enough to lose a couple balls if you are not careful and better skilled than I. I believe beginners as well as seasoned players can enjoy the challenges that this course brings. This 9-hole course would never be a PGA stop...of course, but it is a beautiful place to play this crazy and often frustrating game, or at least enjoy a day out in the fresh air!

But today I took my buddy (who is just learning golf) to this course, and he doesn't have any clubs yet so I let him use mine. Right when we were about to tee off, an old guy smoking a cigarette drove from the clubhouse to me and my friend on the first tee and scolded us about him not having a bag, saying "we clearly told you guys each golfer has to have his own bag, I'm going to let it go this time" in a very rude tone. Then he told us to keep the pace of play. I've been golfing for years, even with friends who don't have their own clubs, and me and my friends have never been scolded before for one of us not having a bag. Me and my friend were teeing off and he proceeded to hover around us on the tee, and we felt like we were being watched. Me and my friend got to the green on the first hole, and my friend accidentally pushed my push cart onto the green. Simple mistake from a first time golfer but not something anyone typically bats an eye to. But of course the same old man drove to us all the way from the clubhouse AGAIN, and when I noticed this I proceeded to move the cart off the green. Then the old man scolds us for the cart being on the green and lectures us about it not being "golf etiquette", and then he lectured us again how we need to keep up the pace of play even though we weren't going slow. I told him that my friend was a first time golfer and that he's still learning the game. Then he yells at me "TEACH HIM". Then these young 12 year old kids, probably from Hinsdale, were on our asses the whole round, making me and my friend feeling like we're in a rush. Later in the round we noticed they were actually hitting the ball when we were still on the green, even though this was clearly a par 3 course. That old guy didn't bat an eye. This is usually a great course to go to and I will be coming back, and it's usually good for beginners. BUT this is the worst course you can take a beginner golfer to IF that old guy is working that day. This was the worst customer service I've ever had at a golf course.

Then my friends mom came in the shop to help us pay for the round, remember this I gave the young guy at the register $5 to help pay for the round and she was going to pay $20 and me $5 the guy said I never gave him 5 dollars and continued to argue about the situation until I gave him ANOTHER $5. We had the bbq chicken nachos they came in a huge bucket they were just okay. I think they needed more cheese the bbq sauce was very strong. I had a expresso martini it was not all that great whatever cold brew they use is not the best. I also had a pomegranate cosmo which was delicious. The course is a par 3 course so it shouldn't be treated like a ultra competitive professional course. You should have fun with it, and my group definitely did. The course offered enough obstacles to make you think how you need to pay, and the greens were a fun challenge. On the downside, there were definitely some bad divits on the Fairway and some bad patches on the green that weren't that big a deal, but when putting and there is bald patch on your line, it makes it that much harder to hit your putt. Finally the markers for teeing off were definitely moved around and the range to green was definitely not right fortunately we had a range finder. Overall though great experience, and I will definitely be returning to practice my mid range game.

Lots of brown grass and bad/dead spots. The greens have so many bumps they are like little speed bumps. Food at the restaurant is hit or miss. They seem to be understaffed at the restaurant a lot. The guys in the shop - some fine, some jerks. Carts all work well but they added annoying governors yet the course is still not nice. Just not nearly as pleasant a place as it used to be.
