Now called The Green Muse, this cannabis dispensary is black owned and smack dab in Portland. I called a few times before stopping in and the young man was so helpful answering my hundreds of questions! Only one party is allowed inside at a time, but there's a spacious porch with seating for you to wait. It's cash only, but there is an ATM on site. Green Muse sells everything from pre rolls ($5-$20), gummies, edibles, bongs, flower, and concentrate. They also have a bomb playlist, which I didn't know before going, but they blend hip hop + cannabis. read more

I didn't want to give three stars in hopes of further supporting the community, but this place is overpriced, offering nothing under $10 for a gram and they do not take my recommendations of what I need in my flower. With so much competition near by, it's hard to compete wider with cheaper product or a bigger selection. The man at the front was very nice but I told him I needed a mid range indica and he showed me a top shelf sativa. I love the vibe but the music is also too loud. I stopped in about 4 months back and had the same experience ‍ I will keep stopping in periodically to see if anything has changed. The external obstacles are rarely the problem, rather-how we choose our response. Good luck in your business-I wish for growth and increased revenue for you! The Good: Though not our usual dispensary, we dropped in while having brunch in the neighborhood. Great music. Really super friendly people. I love seeing African Americans proudly behind the counter selling weed. Fun Decor. I like that the weed is named after great hip hop performers, since I always struggle with the weird mishmash of varieties that plague the market. We ordered an eighth of the "Frank Ocean", and an eighth of the "Jungle Pussy". I knew that if we liked them, I'd be able to find those names again. :) The Bad: Disgusting prices. When I looked at the pricing, I was stunned. For one thing, there wasn't much of a range of pricing. No shake. Nothing for the low grade poor buyer. While the seller measured out weed for the customer in front of us, I even held up the menu to hide my mouth and suggested to my friend that we head elsewhere. Without doing the math, she waved me off saying, "It's fine. It's probably just high quality weed." We spent $100 on the 2 eights. We're both regular 420 smokers, and we've both smoked all sorts of weed, of high and low quality. We found both strains we purchased were very disappointing. The quality of the product and its effects were modest, at best. One of them tasted a little too dirty. The other dense, but light on crystals, and made me cough more than I like. At that price, we certainly expected better. I went out the next day to one of my usual dispensaries, and bought the same amount of weed for less than $40, and we liked that weed better than EITHER of the two strains we bought from the Green Hop dispensary. The Ugly: I can't comment on the actual appearance of the woman who was served that day, because she wore a mask over her mouth and nose while she portioned out my weed. I know a surgical mask isn't required to handle weed in Oregon so I suspect it was just for show, but this was the first time I'd seen the practice in Portland, and it ended up raising more questions than it did ease my fears. Had there been some issue prior? Was she sick? I didn't feel comfortable asking. However, I will certainly condemn the casual speed with which she worked. By insisting on moving buds from the large jar to my tiny "film canister" one at a time, she made the process slower than necessary. But by checking the weight of the individual buds each time she put them into the canister, she made the process painfully mired. This was made even worse by the way that she stopped moving whenever she began talking. She pitched their punch card and began talking about "frequent buyer" deal benefits. Normally, I wouldn't mind, I could see that there was a lobby full of people who'd come in after me, waiting for their turn. She turned a 1/4 ounce interaction into a 3-hip-hop-song-long exchange. I feel that I really need to write a review for a dispensary since my state just recently opened 2 of them this last week. Although Massachusetts is far more reserved and provincial than my old home of Portland Oregon. I want my new neighbors to know there is nothing to fear. I have to admit that although I have nothing against weed, I am not allowed to partake-my job doesn't allow it and does random testing. But curiosity made me check it out. 1. The place is clean and professional. You check in at a front desk and show ID. 2. There are very educated "bud tenders" to help you with your purchase. (This was so cool. Super friendly and knowledgeable.) 3. They package up purchases and seal it for travel. (No smoking in cars/parking lot) 4. Cash only as this still isn't nationally legal. I wish I knew more about the pricing. But couldn't really tell you that. Was blown away by the amount of product that is available. Definitely worth a visit to check out whether you imbibe or not. Dispels a lot of fears. Very professional and everyone super nice. read more

The place has fun decor with graf work on the walls, and old record player along with vinyl you can buy, rap snacks with different flavors for each wrapper, a cool boombox framed to the wall& more! They even sell stickers & each of their buds are named after rappers too. Very chill & different vibe then most dispensaries even compared to out in San Diego where I'm from. Let's get down to it. Needed a different dispensary after KOC was closed. First, nice people. The dj thing is cool, and believe me I love it loud. However this ain't a dance club. I want to hear! Their flower is pricy but not past what I've seen elsewhere. My beef is that I buy pre rolls. I got a pretty hard sell on packs of joints. Didn't want to drop so much dough. There's this little shelf box behind him with some masking tape. That's where the cheap pre rolls are. Kinda behind the guy, not really in sight. They were not labeled and not priced. Holmes acted like he didn't know anything about those and really didn't want to give me much info. I caved in on the hard sell and dropped 30 bucks on a 3 preroll pack. A 30$ lesson. Again.. Nice folks, cool tunes, but last night due to the power outage, I walked my butt down to the Collective instead. Like KOC, prices all out, even the cheap stuff, easy to read and see.
