My orthodontist as a teen had filed my central incisors, something I'd never been completely happy with. As someone who works in digital marketing for aesthetic practices, including cosmetic dentistry, I'm familiar with veneers and smile makeovers, but I wasn't looking for or able to invest in a full-mouth transformation. I simply wanted to feel confident again when I smiled. After several consultations with cosmetic dentists in Charlotte, I chose Dr. Wilson because his before-and-after gallery truly stood out, and his virtual consultation felt refreshingly honest. Some other dentists had recommended Invisalign followed by veneers or a full set of veneers, but Dr. Wilson listened carefully, offered thoughtful options, and never made me feel pressured. We decided on two porcelain veneers for my central incisors. My case wasn't an easy one, as Dr. Wilson had to precisely match the color and translucency of the veneers to the rest of my natural teeth, which is much more challenging than placing 20 veneers made at the same lab. He absolutely knocked it out of the park. The veneers are a perfect match, and my smile looks completely natural and beautifully balanced. Dr. Wilson was intelligent, approachable, and genuinely down to earth, qualities that instantly put me at ease. I finally feel confident smiling again, and it has made such a difference in how I carry myself. I'm so grateful to Dr. Wilson for his artistry, integrity, and care. After the brief niceties and introduction, I proceeded to get a 5 minute lecture about drinking diet soda and how it was "terribly for my teeth and kidneys", how I was "addicted to soda", and suggested that when I came back in I would not have reduced my soda intake because of this addiction (I put on the questionnaire that I drank roughly 3 cans a day). While there is truth that soda can harm your teeth (and I have no problem with my dentist giving me advice to better my health) I found the way she said these things very condescending and accusatory. I would prefer someone who is much more personable. To note the positives, the dental assistant that worked with me for a majority of the visit was very kind, helpful, and friendly. I only waited a minute or two before being called back and only spent a couple minutes by myself in the patient room. (I feel compelled to add that my wife went last week and waited over 45 minutes.) I have an appointment again soon to get some cleaning and cavities filled. If quality of dental work is good, I can put aside the personality issues. Here's hoping.

After posting, one friend informed me that she had made an appointment for the Thursday after New Year's, and i had two others ask me questions. not only do i have a great place to go for dentistry, but wow, i found ministers of Christ to our community, and that's exactly what Christ wants us to do! My FB post: I found my new dentist today! Hounshell Dentistry in Shelby is amazing! I went in for a crown after snapping my molar at dinner last night and I was in awe. I saw Dr. Paul this morning and did a "meet & greet" of sorts. When I went back this afternoon, he told me he had prayed for me during his lunchtime. :) (where do you ever find that?) We talked about his dental ministry, his family, my family, and random odds and ends. His staff is like no other and absolutely precious! What a super team. I would highly recommend this office! I was so at ease. I can't wait to take Autumn in for her next cleaning. (My daughter.)
