Very good business ethic from Jay. ** Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE experience with Avanti this Sunday, July 20th 2025. My sister was getting married on Sunday, an 11:00AM ceremony. We made an appointment with Avanti (Corey specifically) for that morning. After some back and forth on timing we received confirmation that Corey would come in early for the service at 9:00AM. We were quoted a base fee of $150. (confirmation email attached) The morning of the wedding arrives and we take a cab across town to get the bride's hair done. We go up the four flights of stairs and arrive at a locked, dark salon. No one was there. No lights, nothing. We knocked, no one. We pulled up the email and confirmed again that Corey had promised to be here. We emailed them confirming we were waiting and to please get in touch (they never responded to that email - also attached.) We called the number listed and it was an automated message, no way to speak to a real person. The bride is obviously distraught, the ceremony starts in two hours and we have no one to do her hair. We waited around until around 9:30AM and finally couldn't wait any longer. We were beyond grateful to the outstanding salon next door, James Joseph Salon, for their extremely accommodating, empathetic, and beautiful work. They rushed us in the door immediately and had us BOTH walking out 45 minutes later with incredible style, at an unbeatable price. Halfway through my sister getting her hair rescued, we received a call from Avanti asking where we were. I stated that no one showed up, it was unacceptable behavior for ANY day let alone a wedding appointment. She said "Well, we're here now." No apologies, no empathy, nothing. She should be lucky I hung up before saying what I wanted to. DO NOT trust this salon with your time, your credit card information, or your hair - you'd be much better off heading next door to James Joseph Salon. They show up.

We are both "Alex B" which is pretty cool; and it was my understanding that Alex has a passion for short, fun hair- without sacrificing on the fundamentals of an even, well executed haircut. I booked an appointment online; it was super easy. The salon uses Vagaro for online appointments. The salon was comfortable and small, which is not a bad thing. I got a laid back vibe which I enjoyed. I noticed that Alex was a good listener! I showed Alex a picture, and Alex nailed it! Precise and tapered where I want it, but texturized and "fun" where I want it too. She made it seem easy (and you know if you have a pixie cut, it's not easy to find the right stylist) I love my haircut SO much! It's amazing how having the RIGHT haircut just elevates your mood and confidence! I also really enjoyed Alex's personality, I felt more like I was talking to an old friend as opposed to someone I just met. I'll definitely be back!

It's pricey and the fee structure is unusual--let's get that out of the way--but If you're looking for stylish LA loft vibes salon with talented, down to earth staff, and you're normal--I mean, you have realistic expectations about your hair, what it can/cannot do/become, and you understand 2025 salon prices--this is the jam. Sarah does my color. She really listens. She really cares. She's REALLY talented. She's done something I didn't think could be done: taken me from coloring my roots every month to gray blended so skillful and pretty that people think I'm naturally blonde. They don't really see the gray, which is insane. Now I get color every 3-4 months and could probably go longer. Bella cuts my hair. First of all, she's the coolest. 6 feet tall, can (and does) wear anything. Her blowouts are crazy good and have that indefinable perfectly imperfect quality. I'm heading down to the salon in a few minutes. It's been five months since she last cut it. I could go longer, but I'm entering my My Montecito Summer in MayWinter Boston phase and want the clavicut, whatever collarbone length bobs are called. I have (Sarah created) blonde hair--wavy, white lady. I see Bella doing cool cuts in people with textured hair, too. Grace also does epic blowouts and is the cutest. This review is long because it's easy to keep talking about a place you love, and because I see some Yelpers taking some truly bizarre shots at the salon. What a great experience top to bottom…read more I was in town for less than 24 hours for a wedding. I quickly and easily booked a hair and makeup appointment online two days before I arrived. First win. Then I woke up to an email from the airline saying the flight was delayed an hour. Then another two hours. I called and left a voicemail as soon as I could before they were open. I told them I would probably miss both appointments if they kept delaying my flight. When it was confirmed that we would indeed take off I called them back to let them know I could probably make the makeup appointment if they could push it back and find a friend from the wedding to take my hair appointment. The lady at the front desk was super understanding and happy to switch out another wedding guest to take my place for a blow out. I made it in time to get my makeup done by Liza. She was so sweet and so professional. I only wear foundation and have lash extensions. I don't know how to put on eye makeup. I had a bright blue dress and she put in pops of blue. It was so fun and I felt fabulous! The customer service, understanding of my travel delays and final product were all so amazing. I'd come back in a heartbeat next time I have a wedding in Boston!

I told him it had been over a year since I colored my hair and provided a list of products I use. He seemed to know what he was doing so we got started. After about three hours, he washes my hair and it is ORANGE. I mean deep burnt orange, I had never seen my hair like that. I tried not to be upset so I paid and I left. I was looking at it in the light as I walked home and started to cry. It was the most unnatural orange hair I've ever seen on anyone. I went back the next day to speak to them and the stylist proceeded to yell at me and yell it was part of the process. Actually it's not, I've been blonde before and never had an orange step. He is actually being rude to me while the owner was sitting there. Mind you I paid $354 for burnt orange hair. They agreed to fix it at their other soon with another stylist. She did what she could to save it, it was better but still a hint of orange. My hair was also so damaged. I paid over $400 with tip for orange damaged hair. I eventually had to chop my hair about 8 inches because of the damage. Six months later, a million treatments and being self conscious it's still not great. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. DO NOT SEE MICHAEL. DO NOT TRUST THE OWNERS TO DO THE RIGHT THING. just avoid at all costs, save your money and your hair.

It looks dilapidated at best. I was given an appointment with Audrey. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised by its wonderful appearance. During my short wait I saw happy clients with beautiful haircuts. I became increasingly excited about the prospects of an equally beautiful cut. I wear my hair short and have had some bad experiences. Either the hairdresser is worried about going too short or as my last one did, cut it like her own hair. Audrey did precisely as I requested along with using her own artistic intuition. I was very happy. Along with a great haircut, it was comparatively inexpensive. I will definitely be going back!
