Your employees followed me and my disabled elderly mother around the store like we were going to steal, didn't say hello or welcome us or anything, and then the cashier was nasty beyond belief. I stopped off here the other night after work to grab some tea, bread, sprouts, PB and avocados- I wanted to grab dinner to go off the hot /cold table but, the food was already taken away, so that's on me for slackin'. I was so happy to see the they carry the acai push up frozen pops- they carry a couple of different flavors and they are delish and great for a 3p snack at work- but only (if you have a freezer and trusty co-workers) cuz they are very tasty treats. There wasn't much variety on self serve nuts, oats etc, in fact the area needed a good sweep to clean it up, but seeing that it is so late and close to closing, I'll let it slide, because this place is so busy during the day, it may just be hard to keep up. I was hoping to see a bigger selection on dates and dried fruits and just plain sprouts for my sandwiches, but the broccoli sprouts were a good sub in a pinch. There is something for everyone who wants to improve their health in this full service facility. All the aisles are meticulously stocked and sectored. This is as healthy as it comes in an all-purpose natural food store. Another plus is their fresh food section, which they prepare from scratch every morning. I bought a few items that I was looking for, specifically, the Health-Ade Kombucha probiotic tea. The staff was very helpful pointing me in the right direction. I am obsessed with Dean's food bar. As a mac & cheese aficionado, I really appreciate their vegan Mac recipe. I am also obsessed with BOTH of their kale salads, one is sweet with cranberries and the other is dressed with crushed garlic. In addition to my favorites, they have a long list of delicious ready-to-eat foods which make it easy to come here for a guilt-free lunch or dinner. I also like to come here if I'm in a funk. Virtually anything from their juice bar gets me in a better mood. I'm pretty sure they sell positivity in a cup. Also, I rarely give my number or email to places when they ask but I have been coming here for yearsssss and I really trust this place. INot to mention, their coupons are RIDICULOUSLY GREAT. I had to purchase an expensive Maca root powder it was initially $45 + and I received 50% off and was able to use the Maca powder's brand coupon that was displayed in the isle where it was located. Also, their staff always has positive energy. They are always extremely informative every time I approach them with my very specific questions. I genuinely love this place with all my heart. This place is small in size in comparison with other big box health food stores BUT this place is BIG in options. The vitamins, protein, natural oils, toiletries, Vegan Food, Non-Vegan Food, Vegan Desserts Ooh My.... The staff is extremely Friendly and Helpful, I am already known there by several of the staffers. They already know what I like and offer more suggestions at the juice bar especially as I LOVE the Sweet Greens and Liver Flush with a splash of Cayenne Pepper. This place make some of the BEST Vegan wraps. I enjoy the Cashew Collard Wrap and the Mediterranean Collard Wrap as well as the Vegan BLT and MORE. They have smoothies, sandwiches, wraps and more and more. I actually tried items off the Vegan Hot Food Bar, the Vegan Mac and Cheese was so yummy as well as the Spicy ToFu. This place is a must do and a regular place to shop, dine and chill. There are three tables past the register inside that seat 4 people each. One thing they don't have is WiFi which sucks but I have a HotSpot on my phone to connect my laptop while sipping my green juice. I just wanted to shout out to a few employees that always go up and above with service. Rose at the juice bar is always delivering quality smoothies (and bowls when i'm craving them). She's always in a pleasant attitude and she's quick and efficient. Selena who often checks me out on the register, is absolutely adorable. She's super polite, funny, and always helpful when i cannot find an item. She's also quick and always takes me if there's a backup. You lost my business today and in the future. I stopped in to get some groceries and on the way to the register saw your lunch special which was available until 2pm. A wrap, chips and a beverage for $8.99. Two employees confirmed the special and directed me to the chips and beverages after I picked up a wrap. At the register I was sure to tell the cashier that part of my purchase was the lunch special- she acknowledged that, however she rang each of the items in the special separately and when I questioned the over $14 for just those items she asked for my phone number saying I either needed to have a Deans card or apply for one. I informed her that I had no interest in a Deans card and that the sign by the sandwiches didn't say the offer was only for card holder and that neither employee mentioned that. She told me again she could only give me the special price if I applied for a card. With that I left the store and my entire grocery order. read more

Dean's Natural Food Market became Green's several years ago, and the change has not been for the best. Although Green's has two very helpful and pleasant cashiers and still carries organic produce and products its overall attitude toward customers does not inspire loyalty. In the past months I've had encounters with several cashiers who have been rude, disrespectful and even antagonistic. I discussed the issue of these types of attitudes with the store manager several months ago, but apparently Green's is more interested in its employees than it is in its customers as these attitudes have only gotten worse. I only ever had 1 issue and the staff addressed it immediately and apologized. My coconut milk had grown mold under the lid, I didn't see it when I bought it, luckily noticed it before opening it. I've been snubbed by the cashiers waiting in line too many times with their allowing people who just walk up to cut in front of me. It's a good drive for me to get to Deans. I love Dean's. They have things that you normally are not able to find at bigger grocery stores. They are a bit pricey, but pretty comparable to places like Wholefoods and Wegmans. Plus, it is way nicer to support a local business. Their juice bar is great. I love the hot shots during cold and flu season, and this is generally my one stop shop for organic Brazilian nuts. Their organic produce is fantastic. It also seems like they are pretty mindful of the brands and products that they carry. A great perk is their store member card. Every once in awhile I will receive something for $10 off. The only reason why I am giving them 4 stars instead of five, is because the last few times I have been in there the woman working the checkout wasn't all that pleasant. read more

I've been going to this store for quite a while.. I have a "Deans" card which I present and get 10% off. They actually looked it up and confirmed it. Today I went in and made a decent purchase, presented my card....NO 10% OFF! I was there 2 days ago and bought the same product and got the discount. Very poor way of keeping customers.. When a store changes their policy without telling about it, it makes me wonder..do they need my $3.80 so badly? Absolutely no store policy in my opinion. I asked for a manager but "one was not available". Buyer beware!! Check your receipts as the cashier told me I was getting the discount. Later I see NO discount. Just petty. Chunks of random pineapple in coconut water is what it tasted like. To finish it off.. 2 huge banana chunks at the bottom...how do you not notice pouring that into a cup?? The Shrewsbury Store staff is a huge disappointment. Clearly, they don't want their customers to use curbside pickup. I email my list each week and now, I need to call them and ask, "hello-did you see my grocery list for curbside pickup?" If I don't call, hours go by and you won't hear from them and they will NOT fill the order. So, when I call and ask them to go into their email to pull up the order the response I receive each week ranges from "the manager is not in yet so we can't get into the email" to the more common response, "oh, what's the name? Yes, it JUST came in." Today's response, "Really? I emailed it at 3am and it's now 10am." Listen, I didn't mind paying the elevated prices at Deans initially because the products were good and so was the service but now, clearly I need to look for an alternative which is too bad. I like to support my local businesses but I'm not going to be irritated every week when I'm paying a premium. Also- their website has a link to give feedback and when you click on it, the feedback link is disabled which says a lot, don't you think? You can't leave a comment or concern? Finally, the website says if you can't email your curbside order, you can call it in. Not true-my family was told to email only when we tried to call in an order. Also, if you email your order after 3pm-expect to receive it the next day-the website is incorrect. Twice now when I've sent an order at 3:30pm I've been told the manager is gone and no one else can get into the store email to get your order. I suspect now you have a fuller understanding of the service at Deans in Shrewsbury. I'm not sure the owner or manager have an understanding as to what's happening with this store. Deans is a clean, well maintained small neighborhood healthfood store. They have a great variety of vitamins, supplements, and homeopathic remedies. What you don't see their friendly staff will be more than willing to order. They carry in season organic produce and have a hot and cold food bar with fresh food options. The juice and smoothies are my personal favorite and made to order. They sell organic groceries and have a small meat selection. The only complaints I have are that it can get pricey, but they do have,weekly and monthly sales to stay competitive. It can also get crowded at certain times of day but they do offer a call ahead for the juice bar to help with the back up. read more

My very first trip to this store started off wonderfully so many vegan options for me to eat along with a good selection of pre made food to go out of the Deli case. Picked a few items one of them being a "seitan" Quesadilla, supposed to be Vegan (no meat or dairy) right? Got home. Put this thing in the oven for 16 minutes got myself super excited to try this. Take a bite... mouth full of Very Dry CHICKEN... this is not Seitan i thought, this tastes like chicken. I spit it out and had 2 other non vegans confirm that yes, this was Chicken in my Quesadilla, it isnt that hard to tell the difference it's 2 completely different textures. Super disgusting & to boot I just ate the "fakin bacon" vegan wrap for breakfast just now and I've never felt this nauseous after eating Tempeh. There has to be some kind of cross contamination mixed with lack of care for what label is getting put on these items in the deli. Spent almost 200$ and I don't think i'll ever return. I love the food and products at Dean's Market. The employees at juice bar are amazing and friendly. My issue with Dean's Market in Ocean Township is that EVERYTIME i shop there, they follow/shadow me. Last week two male employees "checked" on me, but never offered assistance. Its a very degrading feeling. I am a full time nurse (who happens to be black) and enjoys eating organic healthy food. After i finish shopping, i take my groceries up to check out and I PAY FOR MY ITEMS!!! I like to take my time. I like to look at items that i may want to use in the future. If i spend too much time in one aisle, someone will come and start randomly rearranging a perfectly stocked and organized shelf. I can only shake my head. Thats my cue to move on. I wont be giving them another dime. I spend a ton of money in Dean's only for them to treat me like a thief. Oh, and the old lady with the white hair was notorious for a good shadow. I always get the coffee crunch smoothie and love it! It's a little pricey but worth it for the coffee and smoothie combo. Unfortunately my friend and I both ordered one and couldn't even drink it. It was like chewing thick almond butter. I noticed the color was a little darker than usual but didn't think it would be undrinkable. I added some water and 3 ice cubes when I got home but now it's just gross unfortunately. A waste of money. read more
