I was searching for quality Grow Bags for my veggie patio garden, everywhere was back ordered online or poor quality at the common local garden shops. I was fearing failure before I could even plant! I came across Green Thumb Hydroponics via my online search, icing on the cake they were in my neighborhood and had them in-stock! I jumped in my car, and found their shop a bit off the beaten path at the back side of the Stones Gambling Hall shopping center. I was warmly greeted and helped by a very kind gentleman, who showed me where the Grow Bags were and helped me select what I needed. They are great quality with handles, I couldn't be more pleased! I was in and out of there in a jiffy with what I needed to get to planting! Thank YOU Green Thumb Hydroponics! I will definitely return again! P.S. I went to the Green Thumb store to buy a couple of things. The sales person said they were offering a discount on all of the items. On the receipt,they show the price of the item, the 20% discount and the total charged. The problem is there is nothing discounted from the total receipt, SMH what a way to do business. Example: Item Qty Price ext price Calimag 1 29.95 29.95 discount 20% Total due 29.95 + Tax So where is the 20% discount? It was he same on all 3 items I bought. at the bottom of the receipt it says I saved 20.55 But there is no discount on the items. I feel they are trying to mislead their customers. read more

Frequent here to buy various products including Harvest keeper vacuum seal bags . They were out of the normal ones I buy so an associate recommended for me to purchase the same bag in a foil option that they offered . Got home and had issue with the bags sealing and when I called in I was told it was a common issue. When asked if I could return or exchange the bags which were $20 more then the ones I normally purchase I was told no ! They would have to call the actual manufacturer and let them know of the issue first . Associate even said it was possibly because of my vacuum sealer I then offered to to purchase the one they sold and if issued continued would I be able to return them he said no again . Not very helpful at all . Very rude and short ! I mean I guess I could've been the one with the attitude because I basically just threw away $50 . However I'll just choose to never shop there again ! read more

I called looking for replacement filters for my hydrologic small boy water filter. The sales person was concise, knew exactly what I needed and kindly described what he had over the phone. They didn't have the carbon filter but he suggested an even better coconut fiber one. Now I have potable water for 1200 gallons. These guys are great and really know their stuff! read more

This place is legit. I went in to pick up something to put some seedlings in--they had four different starter mediums. Then, just for fun, I decided to ask how much the T5 lights are. I needed one, and wanted to know how much I would be saving by ordering it from Amazon. Amazon's price: $112 Green Thumb Hydro's price: $98 Well, that didn't work out quite the way I was expecting...so I get to save money AND support a local business? Works for me. My only complaint is that nothing seems to be labelled with a price. They have hundreds of different and awesome products...and no real way of knowing how much they cost without asking. Still, that's a pretty minor complaint, since everything I bought seemed to be cheaper than hardware stores, nurseries, and even the internet. I'm impressed. Quasi-update: Make sure to check their hours before you head out. I think they're closed on Sundays, and I know they close somewhat early during the week (I think 7pm). read more

Excellent service! The two male clerks working were very helpful and answered all my questions. They did not try and sell me the most expensive things they had, but instead worked around my budget to find something awesome. After I bought a setup, I came home to find that one of the cords did not fit. Called them immediately a little bit annoyed but when I went to pick up the adaptor, it was free of charge. When i first shop here i came out out of the store with 60 dollars worth of products. that included smart pots, soil, cal mag silica ph tester. About a month later i want back for more soil. Since when 22 dollars retail value equals 34 out the door. It like you see the price and youre like cool the. Get to the register youre adding everything up in your head like that dont even make sense. White flies trap was 450 i paid 750. I know the owner. Who also runs a shop on Fulton same items plus more except when retail is this price is not that price out the door including taxes. Not to mentions getting followed around the store and feeling like im being rush out as soon as i walk in to provide service. Everyone should receive the same service you cant be giving discounts to all your friends walking in to buy stuff then give randoms high ass taxes read more

Worst experience I can remember. I do not believe these other reviews. I researched and called many 'growshops' all over the Sacramento and Foothill area looking for a simple cloning machine. Called all three of the 'Thumb' stores and verified with 'Scoot' that this store had ONE 1 one in stock. Being the farthest possible drive I had 'Scoot' verify the prices...$100 out the door was the quote. I showed up the next day and non-Scoot raised the prices to $150+ BEFORE taxes. When I located Scoot he Floundered and Failed. So here is the updated latest review for BrownNose Hydro. THEY BLOW! Some of the employees need to lay off the flower, if you know what I mean. Having said that, there are others that are great to work with. It's closer to me than another business I've worked with (that has lower prices), so when it comes to convenience vs cost, I'll visit this spot. read more

To start it off they have great prices and discounts daily and the most helpful staff I've ever encountered through out all my life. The prices were low as I would expect living here in Sacramento and they have great selections on so many things you can think off for your plant purposes. The staff was helpful making recommendations and being nice and telling me everything about products there since I am new to hydroponics. Really great shop. No shady people hanging out and not a cover for illicit activities. I love the fact they have a used equipment are for poor bastards like me. They are really personable. The location and their hours aren't the greatest, but the store is well stocked with very competitive prices. I had very low expectations after my experience with the worthless mongoloids at the Green Thumb in Citrus Heights, but the guys at this south sac shop are pros. Dirty and under stocked. Employees information not correct. Location is hard to get too. This store is a fossil, used to be the place to spend your time and have a conversation. Now most of the time they are so stoned you get the feeling they just want you to hurry up and leave. Gave them a second shot because the are close and watched them with other customers and left.
