I love fire. I love building & maintaining fires. I love heating our home by means of fire verses the HVAC system we have & if you know what you're doing then your polluting the air less than the majority of vehicles driving around as your perfectly seasoned wood & built fire burns clean. I love recycling & re-purposing all things as often as possible & know that tree's go down & are sometimes taken down which makes me very sad inside due to their living creature status however it happens & I love knowing that the green matter that we burn to heat our home is being used & not dumped into an already overflowing landfill. I love supporting local businesses & particularly ones that work in green matter, are damn good at it & are personable, friendly, helpful & grateful for your business. We received all of this on our maiden voyage here. This business doesn't just sell wood but they are a full service tree company. I've been dreading finding a new wood supplier as so far our results here in Sac have returned less than favorable results. I took a chance & ordered wood from Tony's Firewood in Citrus Heights earlier this year & have only been more dissatisfied 1 other vendor in my lifetime of fire-starting to date than with Tony's firewood as well as their beyond lacking customer service. We still have a decent amount of Tony's wood left as it was too wet & hard to actually burn. Until that is, we got our first load of wood from Patrick & his side kick just over 2 weeks ago which has to date been the most amazing wood I have burned in decades & makes such red hot coals that the left over previously unusable wood from Tony's now finally catches due to the kick ass red hots from GreenTree's wood. Found GreenTree by means of searching craigslist for some firewood & was teetering between him & another CL poster but Patrick was available at the time we phoned verses the other supplier who would have us wait until later in the day. I'm so pleased that Patrick returned my call within the hour as we headed straight out to him and it was such a beautiful drive too as his business is located in a peaceful country setting in Orangevale full of quiet & nature & is neatly kept seeing's as how much wood they carry, split & chop onsite. Here's what we got and what I LOVE about this business AND we are heading back for our second load within the next week for round 2: $100 filled our long bed Toyota Tacoma pickup; not flat but slightly rounded load & full of an amazing selection of soft,semi-soft & hard woods which is exactly what you will need if you're going to be building fires. Soft gets it going, semi soft takes ya to the next level and once ya get that kick ass bed of red fire hot coals your hardwood is what slows down the burn while still burning clean & warms your house going the distance.. They loaded our wood for us & at no additional cost. SCORE!!!! I was wondering if we'd have to load it ourselves & was elated to see them both begin to load our pickup as loading & then unloading & re-stacking your own wood can be a rather exhaustive endeavor & lately I'm lacking in strength & vigor so this was much appreciated. ALSO: As they loaded our wood they described the types of wood including its density: soft, semi-soft & hard & as they loaded it they separated it out making it super easy once we returned home & began to unload it & re-stack it according to its density. Why does this rock? Well because as you build each fire you want to be able to immediately go to your soft wood to do so and move on down the line as your fire builds ending with the hard wood. If you don't separate as you stack it then you find yourself digging thru your wood making a mess, cussing & eventually dropping huge pieces on your feet. True story. Although we received several varieties & all of which are disease free & clean I'd have to say that I have the most fun with the light & airy redwood pieces as they start each fire nightly catching like no bodies business. The oak is my next in line & is so seasoned;all of the wood is actually and burns hot & clean. With the exception of some smaller branches all the wood is split which if your given a choice is the only way to go as even your bigger logs just burn better when split which is a time consumer if you're the one splitting them. I LOVE this wood... All of it & I've been burning it nightly for just over two weeks now &have used every variety we were given &am beyond satisfied with each &every stick of it. Patrick was fabulous to work with. He arrived on time to scope the work, provided a quote on the spot, was willing to negotiate on the price (and even came down a bit based on other quotes I received). He is very clearly an expert on the type of tree being discussed, it's growth patterns, issues and concerns, and the best way to deal with its removal. Of particular importance to me was the fact that Patrick has a license; many of the other contractors providing a quote did not. Patrick scheduled the work within days of my acceptance of his quote, arrived on time with the chipper and got to work almost immediately. Within hours the tree was gone and the yard cleaned up. Patrick did not mind my taking pictures and he ensured that the work was done to my satisfaction before asking for payment. I used love Patrick with Green Tree, but in recent years he's become very undependable and his work is not up to par. He shows up late, no shows without calls and I lost a tree to disease after he over pruned it. I wouldn't use him again. read more

I absolutely love Patrick. I initially contacted him to check out some redwoods on my property I was concerned I was going to have to remove. He brought his arborist with him and they looked at all the trees on my property. They were very thorough and thoughtful and gave us excellent advice. I did NOT have to take them down (my concern with hiring a tree removal company to evaluate is they would want to remove them just for the work, not for the need). I next hired Patrick to prune a large ornamental plum in my backyard. He did an excellent job! I was afraid it would be butchered, but, as with all "haircuts," it needs to be a little short at the beginning in order to look good later on. It was. It had a gorgeous umbrella canopy within a month. I absolutely trust Patrick with any of my trees. read more
