I buy from GVT and install sod myself. Super quick turnaround and they carry varieties that are pretty perfect for the Colorado Climate. The Tahoma 31 turned out surprisingly well on a shady patch of my lawn on the north side of my house. Went dormant around October. However by mid-May it was only just then starting to sprout some new greens, so hopefully their RTF blend will be a perfect combo of doing well in a cool shaded area and enough rooting the withstand traffic and my dog. read more

Went in to the office to get a quote for sod and installation, gave square footage and was quoted $1,700 was told an estimator would come out and look and give an exact quote. Mike the estimator called gave him the same numbers for square footage as I did the lady in office and he quoted $2,700 plus tax. He didn't even come out and look. When I asked why it was so much higher he said it was higher in my area. Don't know why he would say that when I gave the lady in the office my address and zip code. When I called the main office to talk to someone about it they asked me what they could help me with then when I started talking she rudely said I have 4 people in front of you you need to hold. Obviously something shady is going on in this company and I will be taking my business elsewhere. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Purposely went to them because they are close to my house but now supposedly according to Mike it's $1,000 more for my area, so if I lived further away it would be less? No thanks. read more

Purchased RTF sod that GVT sales person said would grow in shade. 3 times she was asked if it would grow in shade. All 3 times the answer was "yes". Well it didn't grow in shade. I was then told to purchase fertilizer, Revive, water certain amounts and it would grow back. It didn't grow back. Was told it needed sun. Sun was never mentioned when I decided to purchase it. Was told the tree in the area needed to be cut back. Then holes could be poked into the ground....not aeration...but holes poked...with ski poles if I had them. This would make the sod grow back. Was also told that not all of the fertilizer was dissolving because it too needed sun. Then communication with company customer service representatives occurred. Phone calls were not returned when they were stated they would be. Not once did anyone acknowledge that the sales information and advice given was false. I advise you to purchase sod from a different company. Do not trust the information and advice given by the individuals at Green Valley Turf. After writing this review GVT called and said they would refund the cost of the sod. read more

Five superstars for this company. We got 17,000 sq ft of sod at our new building site. (see split screen pictures) We figured out that we could save a lot of money by going through Green Valley Turf, instead of a (middle man) landscaping company. The whole team at GVT did an outstanding job on our property. Bruce and Mike were very good with communication on getting things organized, making great suggestions, and checking up on their crew. The crew that they hired were fantastic. They were all very polite, easy to communicate with, and worked very quickly. I've been working with contractors for two years while building a 13,000 square foot house. I have to say it's very hard to find workers that show up exactly when expected, and work as hard as these guys did. We have another part of our yard that will need sod soon, and we will definitely be calling them back. read more

Yay for green sod at an affordable price! I have a tiny space that I wanted to resod ... other stores were out of my price range. Went to Green Valley on South Santa Fe Drive and 40 strips were loaded into my car. Less than two hours later - I had a gorgeous, green, cool grassy area all watered in. I recently had my Kentucky Bluegrass front lawn replaced with RT Fescue grass. This is a grass more suited to the climate of Denver and needs 30% less water than the bluegrass. Great quality sod, reasonably priced delivery, arrived on time, very competitively priced. The lady who took the order by phone was super helpful and patient with my ignorance when it comes to grass species/breeds/types. Able to deliver next-day! We did EVERYTHING wrong when putting in the sod (according to the instruction sheet that came with the delivery which I didn't see until AFTER we had put in the grass because my husband put it in a drawer at delivery time) and our new sod still looks AMAZING! It has been over 100 degrees for the past four or five days and the new sod has been in for just over a week. In fact, the new sod looks better than our established lawn. My lawn was terrible after years of neglect. Fast forward 15 years and my lawn needed to be replaced and after checking a few places on yelp I went with Green Valley. They had the best price quote and their estimator appeared to be the most knowledgeable. One of the other places wouldn't even bother with my lawn because it was under 2500 sq ft and too small for them to even bother with. The GVT crew finished my re-sod in an hour and a half! Although we did go to a different company for our lawn services, I spoke with Greg from Green Valley Turf. He did assure me that he had spoken with Mike, and he apologized for the service I received. After years of working in public service industries, I can say that Greg handled the situation very well. A family member, who owns a large landscaping business, has been using Green Valley Turf since the 1980's and recommended we them when we were landscaping our back yard. Green Valley Turf guided us through the process of preparing the soil, using their Screened Topsoil and BOSS Five compost products. My wife and I had the sod delivered to our home where we installed the GVT Colorado BlueTM Sod product. A few months after installation, we experienced an issue related to the substantial amount of rain we had in the spring. We immediately contacted Green Valley Turf and they came out to our home, assessed the problem and helped us fix it. Ordered some sod, compost and fertilizer to be delivered. I've been on both ends of business to know that many factors come into play when delivering anything. So even though the first delivery attempt didn't go as planned, Operations Manager Greg Cogdal took ownership of the situation and made it right. I think the true test of a business is how they respond to a mistake. So, GVT won me over with Greg's actions. And driver Jorge was amazing! He was able to drop the sod and the compost in the exact spots we wanted them, backing his huge truck between literally only an inch of clearance between the fence and our garden supports! Backed right in like he had all the room in the world! What a pro. And the quality of the products was maybe the best part. Definitely worth the investment. Real compost-rich and 'aromatic' as it should be-- and fresh-cut beautiful sod! It measured absolutely perfectly into the space we planned for it. I told my wife as I laid in the last row that I felt like I was on one of those landscape shows where everything fits perfectly the first time! do not like these guys. Was forced to use them again, "geographic reasons applied". Charged me 16 cents more than their competitors. Sod was so thin that so much fell apart that we ended up 90 ft2 short on a 1200 ft2 job? that is ridiculous. Tried to discuss w a manger why they were charging us so much, she had no interest in talking to me. Shame on me, i have notified them in the past that my employees were not allowed to buy from them, if they were to try. Then i went ahead, lifted the ban, got screwed again and have been forced to spend my evening writing a negative review. BTW this is the 1st time i've ever reviewed anyone..... ever. I went to green valley turf company today and I am not in the lawn service so I asked for help in how much sod I should get when he told me I thought I think that is to much but I am not the expert so I go home lay the sod and have to much so I thought oh I Will take the extra back wrong. They don't refund sod!!!! I also called them and of course I was told no!!!! So needless to say they do not have good customer service for a do it yourself kind of person!!! Green Valley was recommended to me by a professional landscaper. GVT provided a reasonable estimate, and their customer service was great - before, during, and after install. Everyone I talked to was incredibly and nice and helpful. I had to delay my installation two different times due to issues with my sprinkler system, and they were great in working with me through that. read more

Avoid this place. If you need sod i would recommend going to your local nursery where they take care of thier customers. Bought a plat of sod and it died less than 2 months. They had fun giving me the run around, try fertilizing, try watering it more, etc. They said that they dont help compensate in anyway because if they did they would be out of business. I called on Aug. 23, 2018 to have sod installed on half of a back yard (580 sq. ft.). I was told they were booking 3 to 4 weeks out. I was given an estimate on Aug. 24th. In the next week and a half, I called the scheduler (Bruce) 3 times and left messages and called the company 2 times, trying to get the work scheduled. I was told both times that Bruce would call me that day (which he didn't). I finally called and left a message on Saturday, Sept. 8th on Bruce's number, saying I would probably be cancelling the work order since no one was calling me back to schedule the job. Monday morning, Sept. 10th, Bruce called and asked if I wanted the work done. I asked if it had been scheduled yet and he said no, not yet. I asked when it would be scheduled for and he said "October 4th". I said when I made the appointment, I was told it would be done in 3-4 weeks and now the time I was being told was 6 weeks later. He had no answer to this so I cancelled the entire job as who knows if anyone would actually show up in 3 1/2 weeks and I had specifically told the company I wanted the sod put in before October (they had told me it was best to get it done no later than end of September)! I guess I will now order from another company and do the job myself! read more

I grabbed a pallet worth of bluegrass, the top 6 or so pieces were great. After that they were really dry and old. A lot of yellow mixed in, a lot. some of the pieces I had to toss out because they ripped as I carried them. If you buy from here I would recommend giving yourself enough time to go through each piece first. It may be time consuming, but worth it. read more
