We hiked the fern valley trail. It was pretty easy. Well suited for little ones and adults. There's a few spots near the lake where you might have to help smaller kids but our daughter and her friend managed well enough. Saw a lot of little toads on the trail. Lots of butterflies and squirrels. We managed to see a Heron fishing and flying. That made the trip in my opinion. We walked around the lodge. Not too much to see in there. Looks like a decent enough place to stay. Staff wasn't very friendly but I guess you can't expect much out of government employees having to work a holiday. read more

I've been going to Greenbo Lake since I was a kid. I've camped, boated, stayed in the lodge, ate at the restaurant, and this week, I went to the community pool for the first time. The lodge has several rooms available. Nothing fancy, but clean and affordable. The restaurant has never disappointed me. There used to be a pretty good buffet, but not sure if that is still available. It's been too long since I've camped, so I can't speak of the campgrounds. I enjoyed an afternoon at the community pool, $8, adult admission. The pool was clean and had plenty of lifeguards on duty. The water slide looked fun. There are several lockers if you want to store anything. On the road close to the pool, there are several picnic shelters you can reserve with grills, restrooms and a playground. There is also an outdoor pavilion where concerts are held. There is lots to do at Greenbo, and it is a gorgeous Kentucky State Park. read more

We had lunch at Anglers Cove today. The buffet was delicious and our waitress, Jayden, was wonderful!

First off, this area is beautiful. The drive up was so beautiful, seeing the lush green trees, the various animals around and the nice curves and turns of the road. The park is also huge, it has a lot going on and seems to have something happening nearly every day or at least every weekend. I arrived just shy of the 4th and they were packed with families ready to celebrate. They offer both camping and staying in the resort and I stayed in the resort. Now while this was a pleasent time, I had some cons. The door that lead to the semi private patio was nearly falling off the door frame. Opening and closing the door was a hassle and the frame was literally cracking each time. Everynow and again a creepy crawly friend popped up either walking around the floor or near the door that lead to the patio. Thankfully they kept to themselves, but it would have been better if they were not in the room to start with. They do offer a free breakfast which has the classic staples, sauage, bacon, eggs, ceral etc. Additionally, the area has a rich history, the artwork is amazing and they have a stuffed bear to be viewed. Added bonus, they allow dogs. Non added bonus, the pool is an additional fee to use, regardless if you are staying at the restort or not. read more

We spent a weekend in a room at the lodge during an October lull in the coronavirus pandemic, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was great to get out of the house after several months of quarantine, and we were able to stay safe during our trip. The lodge has been renovated fairly recently so it wasn't showing it's age. Our original reservations were for only Friday night, but the clerk at the desk (unfortunately we have forgotten her name) went out of her way to help us book a different room in order to extend our stay through Saturday night as well. The room looks out on the woods, so we had a better view than the parking lot, and we ate our to-go breakfast from the dining room on the balcony! The beds and pillows were comfortable and we had no complaints. The black "makeup remover" washcloths were a great idea! The weather was a bit rainy, and the fire in the lobby fireplace was welcome, but we have thought about returning during the summertime to broaden our experience. read more

We had a wonderful weekend trip at this State Resort Park! The lodge was gorgeous and complete with a library, gift shop, pool, fishing dock, and comfortable rooms. The restaurant at the lodge offered delicious foods with friendly staff. The trails offered a range of wildlife including White-tailed Deer, Wild Turkeys, Skinks, Tulip Poplars, fungi, and Luna Moths. We hiked to a beautiful cemetery and along the lake. We also kayaked for four hours in the lake and it was gorgeous with great views of Great Blue Herons and Kingfishers. I am anticipating my next visit to this gorgeous part of Kentucky! read more

Visited here from Thur-Sun for a crafting retreat. First the negative: Our room was on the second floor & there's only ice machines on the first & third floors so that was somewhat of an inconvenience. The rooms don't have refrigerators so we paid extra to have the luxury of a mini fridge in our room. There were no queen rooms available so hubby & I settled for a room with 2 double beds. No microwaves in the rooms but there's ONE small microwave located near the front lobby which is better than nothing. There's no indoor hallways so it was cold walking to and from the lobby & restaurant. Here's the positive: All rooms have balconies that overlook the lake & pool. The room was clean with shower gel, shampoo & conditioner provided in the tub/shower. The towels & washcloths were thick & luxurious. There's a screen door leading to your balcony so you can leave it open for fresh air in nice weather. The food in the restaurant was reasonably priced & delicious. We ate there Friday, Saturday & Sunday and everything was scrumptious. The hiking trails were great. Loved the roaring fire in the lobby fireplace. We made s'mores on Saturday night. It was peaceful, quiet & pitch dark at night. I slept better than I have in months. Last but not least, the staff was wonderful. read more

This is a small State Park operated lake. The marina is open Monday thru Thursday - 8:00am until 6:30pm; Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 8:00am until 9:00pm. I really wouldn't call it a marina though, it's more of a gift shop where you rent pontoons, rowboats, canoes, and motor boats. There's a portion of the lake that is a 10-acre scuba refuge April through October at designated times. You do have to have an open water certification or have an instructor with them that has an approved certification. Although it's one of the cleanest lakes that I've been to, I don't think that the visibilty is clear enough to dive. The lake is "idle speed only"... so, even though I wasn't there during peak season, I don't prospect it too get too loud or busy. There is a fishing dock walkable from the "marina" and they were even allowing people to fish from the marina too. I'm pretty sure that the state parks are stocked of fish every year. read more

SO sorry to see that out of the first 2 reviews, a Yelper gave this park a 1 star. We had a completely different experience. We do A LOT of camping; several trips a year---- all over. I LOVE visiting different parks; not a fan of going to the same places over and over. But this park- we will 100% be back. My regret about this park is that I live 2 1/2 hours away. Greenbo Lake Campground is very clean. Bathroom/shower house is well maintained. This is not a large park with many camping loops. You can def. walk the entire campground with no issue. Some of the sites are quite large; a couple even gigantic. There were many kiddos running around the park but that's ok. This is a park I would have turned my daughter loose in when she was younger. (Two playgrounds & putt-putt) The lake is gorgeous!! Next to the campground and easily accessible. We brought our kayaks but they offer kayak, paddle boats and Pontoon boat rental (Prices seemed resonable) Make sure you bring what you need because there is no Walmart around the corner) *Psssst campers.......this is a dry county. read more

This was the worst campgroung I have stayed in. Campers were letting off fireworks. Another campsite was blaring music at midnight. Kids running wild throwing large rocks at each other. Some were bouncing balls off peoples campers and cars. There is no one to enfoce rules. Its ok for kids to run around and have fun but these people need to have respect for other campers. Tried to talk to staff they told me that they have been having problems for a few weeks but there is nothing they can do about it. read more

So I simply can not say WHAT A GEM WE FOUND !!! We had some work to do in this area so I looked for a place to stay. I use hotel.com as well as Yelp both places showed this place being the closet. Good price to!!! I cant give type in words how AMAZING this place is. The winding road that ultimately leads to this 3 story hotel!!! When u check in it has a big BIG ! Movie perfect entrance. You first walk a cross this wood bridge and then you come up to a porch like I would have at a cabin and ther let are 6 wood rocking chairs!!! Tou open the doors and right in front all you see are Coaches and chairs, fireplace, rugs even a deer head mounted. A place u want to just sit (and I did) the customer service desk is right on the right side. They are ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC (per other post I never meet a rude person mater of fact I came back down wondering and stood and talked to the lady seemed like 4 ever at the front desk) As for the room u take hotels having a baby with a cabin. Front door entrance is out side no inner hallways, then the room was breath taking!!!! Then I seen a door on the other side if the room WTF !! I opened it and it has a screen door leading to the balcony with 2 lil chairs that I can just sit and look at the woods!!!! The only down fall in all of this AMAZINGNESS is on the site it says continental breakfast and I seen none. Wasnt to impressed with the restaurant breakfast for that kind of money i do and will expect more. But around that i am planning another trip to this place. Just gonna bring my own food read more

This park has done a great face lift over the past few years! We are so proud of the administration here. The restaurant at the lodge can be a little pricey for the quality but still a great place to go & spend the day hiking or at their water park. Also RV camping & boat rentals can make this a great family outing place to go. read more

They said there'd be wifi. Well, maybe it HAD wifi, but's broken and everyone at the hotel says, "Whuh - I don't know about that. Nobody told me." They suggest I call the ISP who tell me how unfortunate the whole situation is. This is ridiculous! read more
