**Review on event space**…read more I went to an event here this past weekend and it is a really interesting space. You walk in like you are entering a hotel, but the small walkway leads you into a large atrium area with a wide staircase that leads up to a second floor balcony that overlooks the bottom floor. The place is well lit, but has lots of reds and rich colors. There is a restaurant in here too, which I did not enter into, but I heard that it is a bit fancy and has lots of elephant decor. The restrooms and nice and off to the side. The space easily help 10 rounds of 10 plus a long table for about 20 kids and a long buffet table. They had space int he back for a coat check and behind that they had setup areas for the caterers. They do not have parking, but there is ample street parking and a parking garage down the street. We walked over from the Holiday Inn and it was not a problem at all. I am not sure who the caterer was but the food was good. They had a Caesar salad, white cheddar mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, green beans with shallots, and a beef carving station. For the kids, they had fries and chicken tenders. The chicken tenders looked great but were extremely dry and overcooked. We went to an event like this at the Big Sandy center, and this hotel was A LOT nicer! I would highly recommend it. Also, I am not sure who the DJ company was, but the DJ and his dancers were amazing too!

It's in between the river and a busy main road, so it's a bit noisy... And yet, so peaceful watching the sunset and the tugs go by. Two day limit in 15 days is fair enough. 3 spots. A friendly local also walking her dog wished me a pleasant stay. Many families enjoying the playground with their kids and couples enjoying the scenic view. I only wish there was some sort of crosswalk to the stores on the other side of the busy street.

This Huntington B&B is a bit misnamed. There are two rooms, a well appointed living room and a…read morebedroom with a queen size bed. There's a small kitchen and the bathroom is good. There is a view of the Ohio River from the couch (that becomes a bed) through a flood wall opening that provides a nice view over a static Pullman car that's part of the visitor center. The HVAC is quiet and efficient. The Chessie Room is on the second floor of an historic building and one must climb stairs to get there. The TV is awkwardly located in the bedroom but is offset by excellent WiFi. The breakfast part is a chit to Butter It Up! in the Market Square on 3rd Avenue, a 15 minute walk away but with a parking lot behind the building if you don't want to walk. If you do hike it you will pass Pullman Square and several restaurants that you may want to try later on. The menu is worth the walk. From the Chessie Room it's a ten minute drive to Ritter Park, as fine a city park as will be found anywhere. Value wise it's very good, in part due to the location, and in sort due to the comfort of the Chessie Room proper.

The response to my problem was, ( Everything will be fixed by the time you get back from work), and it was done 2 hrs later. I think the hotel was having issues w/ housekeeping on the day we checked in (a Monday); when we checked in there were 2 people who had just checked in that were coming back to the front desk to complain that they were given rooms that had not been cleaned. But the gentleman working at the front desk was very apologetic and attempted to move both parties to new rooms as quick as he could. Our room was clean; we ended up having an issue w/ the air conditioner and shower head not working, but the same gentleman quickly moved us to another room. This hotel looks to have been recently renovated, and I liked the wood/linoleum surface in the rooms (instead of carpet). The breakfast area was very clean and a decent area to set up to work remotely. The breakfast was standard, decent selection (waffles, bacon, yogurt, bagels, etc.) There was also a cute sitting area in the lobby which was nicely decorated.

Then a young lady sitting in the lobby with another lady got up and met me at the counter. Whilst checking in, I asked for a room with a good view and made mention the last place I asked for a good view, they put overlooking the parking garage. I then asked about snack machines and she informed the nook to the left was snacks for purchase and that there was free popcorn in the dining area. Asked about ice machines and was informed ice machines were on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. Was then that I realized I was assigned a 4th floor room (yep - no ice machine even close). Went to the room and my view was a rock side of the mountain approx. 30' from my room. yeah, disappointing. Outstanding room, but nothing indicating commerce in the area, especially local places to eat. Just turned around and left to go find some place for dinner. The breakfast offered the next morning was outstanding. Frankly, it was probably one of the best hotel breakfast that I have had in years. Went to the counter for check out with two lady's at the counter, but wasn't greeted our asked about my stay. Told the lady in front of me I was checking out, but she deferred to the lady beside her. Gave her my keys and she turned around, plucked my receipt and said here you go. That's it.. So - Be aware that this is an awesome hotel staffed by folks with zero people skills. If you are assigned a room facing the back, you will be looking at dirt and rocks. Not the worst, but just so you know.
