Russell, Mrs Alfreda and Todd are amazing care givers whom care beyond their titles. Even though my grandkids are no longer there, I will absolutely recommend small world as Gainesville Rated #1 Best childcare facilities!

I worked in afterschool at SWDC for nearly 3 years while going to nursing school about 18 years ago…read moreand it was an excellent place to work. I always felt like I was respected (even though I was young), supported, and given the supplies needed to teach the kids. The parents were awesome and til this day, I have a relationship with the now adult kids and their parents because of the environment and bond built within Small World Daycare. My daughter has been a child at the daycare since she was 6 weeks old! If I had to do it over again, I WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING! My daughter was ready from day 1 to start kindergarten. Ms. Heather teaches the kids Spanish, which still today she comes home trying to quiz me‍ and I love how the other teachers get involved in science (collecting bugs, frogs, growing beans), and helping the children with easy to do cooking activities! Speaking firsthand, it's been great for me and my child. No place is perfect, but if there is a problem, the front office staff is always willing to talk to ensure you have an understanding and get to a resolution.

Lakeisha Young has repeatedly denied my services for childcare based upon non legitimate cause. I…read morewas told during my last meeting with this person on 02/14/2018 that my care was denied based upon the fact that "I did not make enough money to receive assistance." I do not see how this statement can be viewed as orthodox to the process of determination. As clearly, a person who is applying for assistance, would have a reduced income, and need for this service offered. I was also told by Ms. Young that she believed my career was a hobby. I have went to school 4 years for a Bachelor of Science in Cyeberspace Security, and I file my taxes with the IRS as self employed. I take business ethics very seriously. I see Ms. Young as a very unprofessional person, who does not have the ability to hold her tongue on opinions, which are not needed for my service. In November of 2017, I had reported Ms. Young for lack of professional communication. We had been emailing back and forth about my daughter's transfer of care from a different county; at which point she refused to respond in a timely manner. The transfer process literally takes under an hour, and Ms. Young stretched it out for a month, leaving me to pay out of pocket for childcare and not be able to use their service. Once my transfer was finally processed, I was never allotted any back pay for their wrongful mistake pertaining to the paperwork. I also found out that Ms. Young was not reprimanded in any way shape or form for defaulting on her duties. Upon researching with the general public, I have found that Ms. Young has taken these actions with several other parents, with no reprimand of her actions. This is a federally funded program, and I am almost certain that I am not paying taxes for this woman to make adjustments whenever she feels ready to. If this person refuses to carry out their job in a professional manner, then I do not believe they meet the qualifications to handle the paperwork that is being appointed to their title.

I can't begin to express the disappointment I have had with this daycare and the owner. My child…read morerepeatedly was bitten, scratched to the point of scarring on his face and inconsistent behavior reports by the owner herself. One day it would be he was great and the next he's hugging the other children too much therefore was put into timeout. I would come in numerous mornings to a chaotic classroom where there was no teacher in the room while myself and another parent would wait for a teacher to come back in or get off the phone or computer to attend to the kids. The last straw was when the owner decided to tell me she needed to be "honest" that my child has been awful from day one! Granted he's a four yr old boy who's active but he listens has manners and any other place he attends has never had a problem ie church or even the other daycare teachers there. She really needs to regroup her people skills and if she had reached the age of where her patience is too short for small children then maybe she should retire. I can assure you my child has more incident reports and scars from that daycare and not one from him being the aggressor I was signing on my child's behalf. More concerning is where were the teachers when these incidents were happening ? With all this said... You get what you pay for.. Travel farther out of Newberry and pay the higher prices.
