Their Lower School principal also resigned recently to relocate (although many would say that was a good thing). The academics at Oak Hall are not great in my opinion and the favoritism, again in my opinion, is unlike anything I've ever seen. Unless you are a big donor or friends with an administrator please don't even consider Oak Hall. Over the last few years many of the best teachers and brightest students have left for Frazier or other private schools. I also know for a fact about behavior issues and racism that have occurred that would shock you. The fancy gates and prestigious price tag status entice many families until they actually get to know the school. Some of their buildings are around 50 years old and are in desperate need of work. After 'nationwide searches' they tend to hire parents or people that many teachers and parents don't even want.

The teachers challenge each child at their personal academic level, while providing a rigorous yet holistic approach to education. In addition to a sound academic curriculum, the children are exposed to both visual and performing arts, public speaking, a foreign language, physical education, with an emphasis on collaborative and interactive work and play. I actively educated both my children and grandchildren and that leaves me rarely impressed with traditional schools. My daughter loves going to school, and knows more at 2 than I did at 5 or 6. She knows her alphabet, can count to thirty, has begun to spell words, her vocabulary is off the charts, she comes home every day with interesting crafts, and singing Bible songs. While my wife and I try to create a learning environment in our home, I really think most of the credit should go to the school. It all starts with the principal Jan Banks. She makes a point of learning every child's name, and greeting them when they come through the doors every morning. Jan clearly loves her job, and creates a positive environment for the students, parents, and teachers. She often dresses up in crazy outfits on days when the school holds parties to celebrate holidays. The teachers and daycare teachers are nothing short of amazing. My wife and I adored my daughter's teachers, Sherry and Monica, and the daycare teachers Emily and Taylor. We trust them implicitly to keep our daughter safe while we are at work. They've done an amazing job of fostering her intellectual growth, and I suspect her next teachers will as well. There is a theme every year, and the school creates learning activities around that theme. This past year, the school brought in a school bus, fire engine, ambulance, a train of some sort, and several other vehicles to discuss transportation. Over the summer, they brought a dentist to school to discuss the importance of oral care, and my daughter came home with a toothbrush and toothpaste. The school uses all sorts of interactive experiences to help the kids learn. I've told my wife, my daughter's teachers, and Jan Banks that THE BEST DECISION I'VE MADE AS A PARENT THUS FAR HAS BEEN SENDING MY DAUGHTER TO THIS SCHOOL. I hope you will take my words to heart.

Our children attended JAB from…read moreSeptember'19- May'20 (while their father was in school) and I just have to say this is prob one of the most well organized daycares when it comes to food/ meals, potty training, discipline and learning critical skills. While there were some flaws, the good far outweighed them. I never got the opportunity to formally thank the teachers who I have to say looking back contributed to our children's growth significantly in such a short period of time. Our children were taught by Ms Liz and Ms Bre (3 year old classroom) who were excellent/ caring teachers- who our kids remember till today and ask if they are going to back! We also had a one year old at the time who they noticed was a little advanced and moved to the two year old class- which I think only further enhanced his fast pace growth. Thanks to them he was potty trained with dry nap-time/ night dippers before 3 years old. Thank you for all you have done, we truly appreciate our experience. Another big thank you to the Assistant Director Ms Breon who was always so helpful regarding administrative items. If you are in Gainesville and looking for a daycare give them a try!
