I recently contracted with Patrick, the owner of Greentrees to clear out the wooded area at the back of my property. I had used them before for some large-scale landscaping. The current work included taking down a few small trees, grinding piles of limbs & a dozen stumps, moving boulders & fallen tree trunks to the back of the property, clearing out all the ground growth and transplanting five bushes. The last step I am waiting for is for Greentrees to put down wood chips to inhibit the return of the ground growth. I am very pleased with the results, a much cleaner looking area. Jason and the crew did an excellent job and the crew was great to work with. Their heavy equipment was designed to not leave tracks across the lawn, a big plus to me. Patrick was extremely flexible, allowing me to extend my payments out several months and the office staff was a dream to work with also. Over-all a great experience. I noticed, standing in my yard on a SUNDAY afternoon, that our Magnolia had some kind of infestation. I got on Yelp, found this arborist, called them and left a voicemail. First thing MONDAY MORNING, someone returned my call. WOW. What other companies are this responsive?! The office manager took my information and Patrick called me back just a little while later and offered to come by and look at my trees THAT EVENING! Double WOW. Patrick is obviously knowledgeable and personable, easy to talk to, doesn't sell you or make you uncomfortable in any way; straightforward but easy going. The price seemed very reasonable/fair. (We didnt get a second quote - why dork around for another couple weeks trying to get someone else to return my calls and come out? Besides, we really liked Patrick and also, we've had enough other tree/yard work done over the years to know that they were in the ballpark.) Our magnolia was treated twice over the following week or two and already i can tell it is getting better. We also had two old apple trees taken down, and like the other reviewer said, the clean up was excellent! You wouldnt know anything was done except that the trees had disappeared. :-) We were VERY pleased with Greentrees and plan to recommend them to our neighbors and definitely use them again! read more

Patrick is the salesperson - he is a degreed forester. It showed. He diagnosed some things about our trees that another tree service did not. Confirmed online via MSU, etc., so I know he wasn't blowing smoke. Hired them to remove a tree, grind a stump, and prune some trees. A crew of three came out and did all of that plus made sure the yard was clean of any debris once they were done. In fact, the yard was probably in better shape when they left than when they arrived. They were on time (if not early) and clearly communicated what they were going to do. They also checked in with me upon completion to ensure I was satisfied. It cost a lot of money, but I was pleased with their work. I don't know how their prices compare to others. My only small regret relates to my primary reason for pruning the trees... which was to make sure they are less likely to fall over and hit my house. One of the members of the crew told me as he was finishing up that "90% of pruning is for aesthetics and only 10% is for the health of the tree". read more

With the storms that passed through this summer, I'm seeing a lot of trees down, so I know this is the busy season for tree service. Let the buyer beware! Make sure that you go over your proposal with a fine tooth comb. Patrick has a lot of knowledge but don't let that cloud your judgement he uses that to sell you a bill of goods. My job was never completed and he will not call us back. We paid him a lot of money for an incomplete job. They also burned out my grass in the back with poison ivy spray. Never will I use this company again. I have to contact another company to finish the job. read more

Three years ago, as part of a massive landscaping effort, I had 2 crab apple trees, 3 river birch and 2 pagoda dogwoods planted. All of them have some infestation (either fungal or insect). The one dogwood looked very sad - although it bloomed nicely in the spring - it just didn't get leaves and what it did get were small. Most tree services with an "arborist" just wants to take trees out. I wanted to save the dogwood if at all possible so I went looking and found Greentrees after reading another review of someone that had magnolias. I called for an appointment. Patrick called the next day and came out. He wasn't sure that the dogwood could be saved but he doesn't like to take trees out if not necessary. He did recommend an initial trim on everything as the crab apples didn't have much shape (I agree and was just telling my neighbor the same thing), the river birches had a lot of dead twigs and crossed branches (I agree as I had been taking the lower ones out for 3 years), and the dogwoods had a lot of crossed branches. I also had a 50 year old Norwegian maple in the front yard that needed trimming and he recommended additional support be added. I agreed and the next day, someone came out to spray and injected something in the ground for the dogwoods. Five days later, the team came out to trim. The guy who worked on the maple said he had 16 years experience and didn't believe in using spikes to climb the tree (oddly enough, my neighbor was having a tree trimmed the same day and they were using spikes to climb the tree). Since there was nothing major that needed done in the maple, he used hand tools to remove the dead twigs and level out the profile. The other guy did most of the trees in the back yard. All trees look much better. And funny thing, I thought I was seeing things but the dogwood that was practically leafless had suddently got new, bright shiny leaves on some of the stems. It still is a long haul and will require more treatments. Cleanup was immaculate. I plan to have them back in the spring so they can address the issues before the trees fully leaf out. read more

Called to ask for a quote to have some work done and was told someone would be out in 2-3 days and would call me to discuss. Over a week later, no call so I called back and left a message. Another week went by and no call back. So I called again and left another message. Still no call back weeks later. Finally gave up trying to give them my business. read more
