This is more so a general review than a review about a recent experience…read more 1) Reception The receptionists are nice, but if you have a balance of any kind, just say you know and move on, because I asked one time and they let me know the total -- but they said it loudly enough that the rest of the waiting room could hear it too. Embarrassing to say the least. If you call them, they're nice too, but often they'll hang up immediately after you're done, no time for pleasantries. 2) Nurses The nurses here are and have always been phenomenal. Shoutout to Porsha especially, as she always greets us with a smile and takes great care of my partner and I's daughter. 3) Doctors We've met with a few of the pediatricians here, and our standard pediatrician, Dr. Brian Dudgeon, is the best out of all of them. He was actually my partner's pediatrician when she was born (his first patient) so having that level of connection is amazing. He'll take the time with you to explain what's going on, what he believes will fix it, and proceed cautiously through there. 4) Overall: I would highly recommend Greenvale Pediatrics - Hoover. The benefits fully outweigh the negatives of visiting, and if you can get seen by Dr. Dudgeon, I fully, fully recommend it!

If you're looking for a pediatrician I highly recommend Dr. Baxley. She's very patient, personable and thorough. Always willing to answer any questions you have, and she treats her patients as if they were her own children. Before having my daughter I did some much needed research on pediatrician and I'm glad I chose Dr. Baxley!

The decor is kid friendly and the whole place is spotless. It is very large and can be imposing but the volunteers stationed at the entrance as we walked across from the parking deck immediately came up and led the way to our clinic. Luckily we have been outpatient and not had to deal with any life threatening conditions, but I would not hesitate to come here if we did. The staff is very courteous and we did not wait long at all. We have adored our physicians and nurses, even the receptionist and assistants, at the dermatology clinic(s). Thankful we have Children's hospital here to take care of our precious little ones!

We had an appointment, they said his LIVER was not looking good they wanted Jacobi to come to the Hospital , stay one night to get a change in his TPN, milk, he would need to stay overnight to see if he would have a reaction. We went we stayed overnight . They never said his KIDNEYS were bad. We stayed overnight , the nurses on 9th floor read his charts which were wrong for some reason, gave him double the amount of medication 3 different times, we went home ,I didn't know til he was sleeping for hours. I went back to the ER the same night, the ER sent us home, every should be good. I talked to Linda for the whole week. That Saturday I took Jacobi back to Children's, and he was dying. He was put on Dialysis, never had Kidney issues, he was in so so much pain at the hospital for 2 months, they sent him home with a blood clot the size of a grape fruit and didn't tell me, I found that out when he went to UAB. He stayed there in ICU a month on a ventilator. Then from there he went to Palliative Care, to pass in peace. I begged them to let me bring Cobi home, we did he died in my arms on Nov- 3rd 2019. My son was happy , fine when we went for the over night stay and died in my arms months later. They never told me that he was dying, they never told me he had bad kidneys, He's been in their care for over 10 years, why not tell me he's dying, why not tell me his Kidneys are bad?why did he needed stay? What was the effect of the new TPN, what was the effect to the drug overdose? What was the effect of the 300 mg of new meds y'all gave him? What was the affect of the dye y'all put in his body the morning of his stay for a scan?How do a child go to an appointment, not sick in the last year? Been thru so many surgeries and came out Blessed, die after he's Overdosed, on his own meds? Oh why was this amount even in his chart? Why didn't the pharmacy and nurse see it's was a very high dose? The end result is my son is Gone and they say he was going to die anyway??? We all are going to die, but you didn't have to rush it he was a child, he is my child, my son and he's gone. They know when Jacobi came to the First appointment he was fine, the next appointment he was fine the 3rd ER VISIT HE WAS PUT IN ICU, and all they say is he's health was deteriorating, could you share that with his Mother, months ago?No they did not. They are smiling in your child's face acting like they care but they are just numbers to these Dr,'s. I live with, I never should have took him, but as a Mother, I had to do what was supposed to be best but what I thought would help him, took my Child from me, and my life will never be the same. I was supposed to protect him from the Dr.'s that was supposed to help him. I live with that, but not my Son. Children's Hospital, Birmingham Al. Anywho, I want to give the office(doctors, nurses, and front desk) a 5 star rating, but I can only give 4 because today I met the rudest person in that establishment(the office manager Tara Kimbrough). I got there for my kid's appt, where I was told I had a balance by the lady at the front desk. Which was fine because I was planning on paying it anyways, I just couldn't at the moment. Tara was summoned out of her cave to "reiterate" several times what the front desk already discussed. The balance would be paid in full tomorrow. She then continued saying the same thing to me as if I didn't hear her to first 10 times. Then said to me that healthcare isn't free. Not sure if Tara speaking to a black woman meant that in a racist way, by assuming all black women with babies are on some kinda low to no cost insurance. Whatever she meant it is not cool to try to shake someone down or reschedule them over a copay. I tried explaining that I had not long ago went back to work after being off for 3 months due to maternity leave. It's apparent that you're getting paid from my insurance because I would owe way more than what I do. On the way out I was told to schedule another appt, but was told by Tara that they wouldn't schedule it until my balance is paid in full. I will be paying the balance but no need to schedule me out because after the appts she already has we most likely won't be back. Thank you Tara Kimbrough, you're the worse person in that place.

But when you realize that the doctor is giving their 100% undivided attention with no need to rush through your child's health questions, you see why. Well worth it in my opinion. Dr. McCain is our primary doctor for our 1 year old twins. She is personable, caring, and shows nothing but guiding us in the right direction for medical care. To be perfectly honest, I don't know how we would know any milestone, dietary changes, health concerns, or basically raising our kids without her. We have seen a couple of other doctors when we needed to get in quick. And they have shown the same care and time for us. The front desk staff is always nice and any time we have called, the nurse has always been extremely helpful. Highly recommended group for anyone with kids or about to have kids.

Knowing your child's gender...after having stacks of paper work that show what his gender is, no one can get it right...I understand if its another establishment, but a doctors office that has seen him multiple times and specializes in the human body...I shouldn't have to correct 5 different people about this in a 10 minute period of time 2. "Show up at 6:30, it'll be a 10-15 minute procedure and you'll be on your way, super fast"....still waiting on a doctor 2 hours later...and by the way your toddler can't eat or drink anything since yesterday 3. As a parent, I expect to be briefed on the procedure, what to expect, what they will be doing with him...but no, not one explanation of what the procedure entails from anyone...the doctor pops in says a measly hey then leaves with no info... Nurse come in a takes him and also explains nothing... Very disappointing
