It is a peaceful place to hang out. :) I do have to comment on the negative review that was left in 2018. That is pure slander. Please notice that the person leaving the review is from Texas - not even from the area! He or she claims that their phone went off and made noise and then as they left, a police car drove by and the cop looked at them. And they speculate that maybe the librarian reported them. Maybe because they are black. Ridiculous. What this person failed to note was that there is a courthouse right beside the library, and there are a lot of cop cars in and out of the parking lot each day. It is unfortunate that this person took their paranoia and hurt a perfectly good library branch and unfortunate that Yelp could not even see through that.

And forget about asking for assistance, for anything, before they close. They are just waiting to close the door and shut off the lights. They will use the time before close to walk around asking each other, can we do this, do we have time before we close . . . as you stand there waiting for one of them to simply fill the request and assist. . . Then, OOPS, it is 6pm - nothing works now, sorry, time to go - and they walk away without concern . . .SMH. More customer service and staff training needed, for sure.

There's a part for the children, their books, computer games, even games (puzzles, checkers, etc) and close to the bathrooms and front entrance. The adult section has a few tables and very limited private room, and a conference room plus a meeting room. I had a conference call and fortunately was able to fill out the application form immediately for usage, but could use it for an hour since another person had it reserved afterwards. Free WiFi, copier machine if needed. There are public computers if you don't have your own. It IS crowded and the new one that opened up is a lot bigger and brighter due to windows. This is darker and not sure why, but libraries are no longer quiet so if you are easily distracted and don't want noise interrupting you, try to reserve the private room and/or bring headphones. Yet, great location as I was able to stop by on way home for work and join this meeting while looking at my laptop, etc. The staff is excited that they are slated to get a larger building in the future.

The Middle Tyger Library in Spartanburg county is overall a very nice library. The children's area…read moreis small but has some good toys and computers. They offer a good selection of books. The adult reading area overlooks a creek in the back. They have a good selection of computers and a decent movie section. Parking is good and overall, the library staff are very nice. My one qualm with this library is the over zealous security lady. As a homeschooler, we frequent many different libraries throughout Spartanburg and Greenville Counties. In addition, we frequented libraries in Florida where we moved from and in all my experiences, I have never had any problems or even noticed the library security officer at the library. In contrast, the security officer at the Middle Tyger library is very aggressive and actually walks around telling people that she is security and to be quiet. If her aggression had only been a one time deal, then I would not bother to include it in this review, but because it happens consistently and has continued over a period of many visits, I cannot give this library as high a rating as I would like too.

Nice tables for studying, but bring earplugs and hearing protection level headphones or white noise…read moreif you need quiet to concentrate. People frequently have full volume conversations and there is lots of yelling at or by kids. Note that the bathrooms are locked one hour before closing. It can be hard to muffle conversations and everything else is nice, so I rate it as a 2.
